Stayed at Malcolm for 2 nights in November, enroute to Lake Kariba. Malcolm and Paulette arranged the airport transfers and all went clockwise. The rooms are tastefully decorated, with large beds, walk-in showers, Wi-Fi and DSTV. Dinner can be taken at the lodge upon pre booking and breakfast is included in the daily rate. I compared a few lodges/rates for Harare and Malcolms offered the best rates and fastest replies. I can highly recommend them and would stay there again.

We went to Malcolm Lodge for enforced coronavirus quarantine on returning from the UK so we were a bit worried about how things would go. However from the warm email exchanges with Paulette, and then Malcolm personally picking us up at the airport we felt safe and thoroughly welcome. I really can't overstate how wonderfully Paulette, Malcolm, Betty and everyone else on the staff treated us. Given how hard it is to operate in Zim at the moment they did an incredible job of keeping everything running smoothly and professionally and struck a perfect balance between taking proper precautions and helping us feel that we were not 'trapped'. The rooms were comfortable, the garden was a nice place to sit and relax, despite the cold weather and the food was great as well, tasty, healthy and hearty (and lovely biscuits!). We were so comfortable that, even though we were leaving to go home for the first time in 4 months, we were sad to leave and felt like we had made some real friends.I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

This was my first time staying at Malcolm Lodge in Harare. All of the usual accommodation options closer to the center of town were fully booked due to a large conference taking place in the city. I was glad for stumbling across this warm and welcoming lodge and will definitely return there in the future. The rooms are comfortable and adequately sized with all the necessary amenities. The pedestal fan in the room was most welcome to break the heat of the day. The pool in the garden area was also a wonderful option for cooling off.
The home cooked dinners were wonderful - nice to have a hearty meal rather than the usual take aways. The location of Malcolm Lodge was also great with Borrowdale Shopping Centre close buy if you are looking for many other restaurant options and shopping.

We were at Malcolm Lodge as a mandatory quarantine requirement. There was refurbishment taking place at the time so not all facilities were available to us. Daily room service was not available due to quarantine conditions.
Paulette and Malcolm were very welcoming, friendly, perfect hosts. The room was adequate with an extremely comfortable king sized bed. The veranda/pool area was pleasant overlooking a large garden.
The three meals a day were simple but adequate - not haute cuisine
Had we been there for pleasure and not quarantine then the overall rating may have been different

Hi there John - am so glad that you are both home again - what a long trip for you and thanks so much for staying with us. Thankfully the refurb has been completed inside - we took advantage of this quarantine situation to do so now as it is Ministry regulation that NO guests are allowed on the inner side of the Lodge - still out of bounds even though completed. So difficult for us as I agree with you totally - cuts back our true capability for sure - and we absolutely feel dreadful not cleaning rooms and servicing as is our normal standard. Again - this is against all Ministry regulation. Hopefully one day you will visit us when we are operating to our full standard and capability - meals are THREE course and most definitely not served on a tray but for dinners tables set up beautifully. Very often with candlelight too! SO LOVED HAVING YOU AND HELEN HERE - take care and keep yourselves safe. Thanks so much for your honest review - gives us a chance to respond for others to see. Love to you both - Paulette

I don't think it is possible to meet a nicer couple than Paulette and Malcom Jarvis.
The accommodation was fantastic, very hands on and nothing was to much trouble. Great breakfast.
Very central to all in the Harare area. Very quite area. Evening meals also supplied which was a bonus during lockdown

Wow wow wow- this lodge is absolutely beautiful along with the owners Paulette and Malcolm. They are the kindest and most helpful people ever and will make your stay as special as they can. We booked the whole lodge out for our wedding party on 2 different days, hosting 40 people in total. Every single guest that stayed absolutely loved it and said the atmosphere was beautiful. They lit a fire and cooked a Zimbabwean dinner for us in the evening which was a perfect start to our wedding. The rooms were super awesome and the beds were the so comfy! Breakfast was wonderful the next day, and they’re so accommodating to whatever need you have. If you want an Airbnb in Harare, this is your place. Thank you again from the Kidson Wedding 🤍

I stayed only one night at the Malcolm lodge, waiting for my flight the following day. The lodge is situated in a quiet area in the outskirts of Harare, at a comfortable distance from the airport. The room was lovely, as was the garden. Dinner in the evening was great, one of the best meals during my Zimbabwe visit. The only thing I would like to question... My room was at the ground floor, and I was suddenly accompnied by a cat, wiggling itself through the window irons and making a place for himself at my bed, as close to me as possible. I like cats and quite enjoyed it, but if you were allergic, this would be a catastrophy. Also, one of the guests left the TV on in the sitting room, which disturbed my sleep for the better part of the night.

Hi there Cecelia - thanks so very much your kind comments - I felt so dreadful after you left it was so unnecessary for him to have his TV blaring whilst he slept on!! Doesn't happen as a rule as we pride ourselves with peace and quiet and on occasion have asked guests to turn volumes down but he'd arrived back after midnight and and we were unaware. Cannot apologise enough - Now that we have moved into our cottage and separated our living arrangements from the lodge we are enticing Missey away gradually (our little feline friend) - she does love cuddles but you are so right if allergic could be a problem. This is one of the reasons our IT chap said we must make clear on our website our love for animals - so glad that you yourself did enjoy her company! Take care out there please - keep safe and sound and hopefully we will see you again one day. THANKS AGAIN Paulette

We stayed at Malcolm lodge for 3 nights on our arrival in Zimbabwe. It was absolutely fantastic. It is located in borrowdale a lovely suburb of Harare with a number of restaurants nearby. A car is advisable for getting around. Malcolm lodge is lovely with all rooms having a little terrace and all having access to the large living room area. The rooms were lovely and clean with a large bed and a fantastic hot shower. Breakfast was served each morning overlooking the swimming pool. The staff particularly Tracey were great. Nothing was too much trouble. One of our group had to return to Harare earlier than planned and Malcolm lodge organised a room for him and arranged a pickup at the airport. Fantastic service. Highly recommend Malcolm lodge as a place to stay when visiting Harare.

The rooms were pleasant and comfortable as well as spotlessly clean. The breakfast was great and the hospitality excellent. Above all our hosts went the extra mile in seeing to it that all our needs were taken care of including things outside of their area of concern. Great hosts and we will be back.
