Detailed Reviews
I have stayed over several times and have grown quite fond of the place. The food, rooms and grounds are just lovely. Ideal for business stays and conveniently located in an area where one can also safely do early morning or evening walk/run exercises around the neighborhood.

We had a fantastic stay at Wavell House. The premises are gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed and the gardens are stunning.
Ros was very responsive and helped us with airport pick up and transfer. Chef Steven was such a great cook, we really enjoyed trying local dishes.
We would definitely come back here next time we visit Zimbabwe. Thank you Ros and team!

Wavell House must be Harare’s best kept secret. It is a beautiful peaceful place to spend a few days or as we did a week . Ros and Nick provide excellent accommodation choices. We stayed in apartment 1 with a generous bed/ living space, a great kitchen and a spacious bathroom. Everything is done to a high standard. The garden is gorgeous with shady trees and a terrific pool. We self catered most of the time but had dinner prepared by their chef Steven which was very good.

Gorgeous gardens, delicious dinners on request, very comfortable accommodations with everything you might need. Definitely recommend a room with a separate entrance--have stayed in both and these are preferable. It's an oasis in the heart of harare. Highly recommend.

Lovely feel, comfy rooms, delicious food, and a great sense of warm and friendliness. Oh and in a stunning location! Nothing beats waking up and having a fresh, delicious breakfast looking over a few acres of grass as the sun comes up or coming back from the office and taking a stroll bare foot through the grass, drinking a beer and reading a book around the many trees.
I travel back and forth to Zimbabwe on a fairly regular basis (every 6 weeks or so) to support a charity. When I first started making this journey I stayed in all the major central hotels which are less that forgiving on ones body (and soul). I had the great fortune when a exacerbating twist of fate (the Chinese president visiting and local HIV/AIDS conference) meant every hotel was completely booked up. Wavell House was the last B&B that I rang and got their last room. Lest to say I have now never stayed anywhere else. Everyone who goes to Harare I recommend Wavell and have never had more positive responses.

We were booked into the guest house by our company in Harare as it is close by. As a rule I dont like guest houses / B&Bs as they are often nothing more than a converted garge or granny flat. Whata pleasant surprise it was, large well appointed rooms, lovely garden and helpful staff. We did not make arrangements for dinner but Michelle offered to order in for us or drive us in her car to a local restaurant.
A good value for money stay and will use again when in Harare

Once in a while you come across an owner run and managed establishment that has all the normal things we expect like clean well kept buildings, sparkling pool, manicured gardens, comfortable rooms, well presented food, but, then on top of that is a hidden extra that is hard to define... it's that tingle in the air, a heightening of senses that leaves you feeling pampered, some would call it atmosphere, whatever way you want to put it, Wavell House has it.
The place is very tastefully appointed with art, fabrics and furniture that come from Wavell House's sister companies owned and operated by Ros Byrne. So if you are taken with the feel of the place and you want to know more, studio tours can be arranged. You may want to bring an extra suitcase...
Wavell House, worth a visit but be warned you would do well to plan for a day or two extra because I dare say you will not want to leave.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Wavell House. Your comments are very welcome and we are pleased that the lodge, our service and premises met your expectations. It is also most useful to know that guests may appreciate other businesses and products affiliated with the lodge, which are of local interest. We are always happy to advise guests of our retail shop, located next to The Shop Cafe for a fine lunch.
