Mr Eisenhower Matope coordinated my visit superbly. May I congratulate Mr Ali Albwardy on his investment in this world-class hotel. Mr Admore managed all my admin issues with efficiency and professionalism Mr Collins was outstanding in the Club Lounge and arranged the Boardroom for my meetings with Government Ministers. Mr Again was in control of all my F&B arrangements and the Grilled Tilapia Kariba Bream was outstanding. Sincerely Martin Benkenstein
The best stay I have ever had with my family in hotel. This entailed the stay right from booking the room the quick check in process and the option to choose room service and above all the quality of good served just the taste and appearance
It’s fine for a 1-night stopover (we were only staying there so we could get a PCR test before travelling home) but I wouldn’t stay longer. Definitely not 5-star. It’s very clean but very tired overall. Shower in our room sprayed water horizontally rather than downwards as it was so gummed up with limescale. Lacking basic maintenance? They tried to add $68 to our final bill for 4 Cokes they accused us of taking from the minibar. Only problem was we hadn’t taken anything from the minibar and even if we had, 4 Cokes don’t add up to $68?! I see mistakes on the bill have been experienced by other guests so definitely something to be wary of. Also they have a system whereby foreigners have to pay in USD which would be fine except it’s obvious they just make up the exchange rate on the day - we were charged more than double the price we would have paid if we had paid in Zim dollars (which we tried to do but weren’t allowed to). The menus don’t state the USD rate, only the Zim dollar rate so you’ve no idea how much you’ll end up paying for anything. Food was just okay (had 3 meals there). Fairly standard menu trying to appeal to all sorts of travellers; lots of dishes came with chips. Everything including cutlery and bread rolls came wrapped in cling film which was strange and unnecessary. Air conditioning stopped working in the middle of the night due to a power cut. They got the room power back on fairly quickly via a generator but this was not sufficient to allow the air con back on so had to sleep with windows open as it was very warm. Room overlooked the street which was very noisy with music and cars backfiring during the night. Overall not a winner and a bit of a downer after an amazing trip in Zimbabwe.…
The rooms are nice, but the rest of the hotel services has seen better times (I hope): food took endlessly to arrive, reception made quite a few mistakes (check your final bill!). There was no cola light throughout my stay, or it was onlny available at the pool desk, but not at the restaurant. Room temperature could not be changed. Staff did not go the extra mile etc etc
The Meikles definitely lives up to its legendary status. I believe they are continualy upgrading the Hotel to stay with the modern times without losing its over a century of historical essence. I will rate it a bussiness class hotel despite the economic challenges it has to face.
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel,so peaceful with warm and cheerful staff I loved the garden,so beautiful from my window view, would have loved a tour though I never got the chance due to work load, the meals were finger leaking good
During my stay at Meikles, I experienced world class quality and standards, the best honeymoon experience, excellent service and ever-smiling staff. This is one of the best hotels in Zimbabwe, boasting of modern amenities with a sustained vintage touch.
The rooms where clean and sanitized. It was extremely hot however the rooms where very cool and the selection of TV channels expansive. Room Service was swift and always on time and the breakfast chef excellent.
The place is already beautiful especially the garden ( one of its kind) The rooms are spacious and well ventilated, with crisp clean linen daily. The food is fresh though this time around there were no green vegetables
The staff seemed sincere in their interactions with me. The check in was quick and efficient. The room was very interesting in that it was quite dated but everything worked perfectly and was very well maintained. I was most impressed by the breakfast buffet
