This is a good hotel that is unfortunately in an area littered with prostitution in the local surrounds.

The accommodation is fair and comfortable but could certainly do with an injection of capital to spruce up the dated furnishings. It also needs a fair bit of maintenance to improve overall feel as well as improved staff awareness as the hotel staff are not the best in customer care and general service. I found the hotel staff a bit slow an unmotivated.

However it was a different tune from the restaurant the meal (lunch - dinner) was very good with reasonable pricing although the bar could do with attention. Local beverages were plentiful but lacks a selection of wines, whiskeys etc - be sure to try the fish I found this to be excellent!!

I wasn't a guest that checked in but i had just dropped off from a bus which boards and drops passengers by that hotel..bookings are done at that hotel as well..so i dropped off and i went by the reception to ask if i can wait for the person picking me up cause they were almost here anyway..receptionist bluntly said i couldn't this place is reserved for guests and nwei they want to clean the area.i was soo perplexed, i asked where she did her training and i as a hotelier i knoe thats no way to treat a guest..im not staying at the hotel but i dont treat someone like rubbish who could be a future client or refer people to the hotel. Very disappointed in her conduct dark stout like lady..

Reasonably priced for affordable accommodation. Courteous staff and easy access from any place in Harare. Noisy environment and commercial sex workers in the area at night is the downside to this otherwise good hotel. Snacks and platter available.

On 26 June 2014, my brother and I checked into Courteney Hotel in the afternoon. We paid $120 for two nights and requested the receptionist if we were to be refunded if we found a habitable option. She said she would take 50% off for cancellation. To us, that was cheaper than spending the night in a dirty place with dirty wash basins, toilets and ancient bedding linen. Beig tourists, we located the Holiday Inn and got escorted by them to fetch our luggage. We found the manager who pretended not to know their hotel, what was she managing? She charged us $10 for cancelling from their filth, she had a nerve. Selous Hotel, around the corner, was cheaper but better than Courteney. Thank God we were to able to walk, look around for an alternate and got to enjoy our first Zimbabwe visit.

We found ourselves in Harare with nowhere to go for christmas lunch. Someone suggested the Courteney which had been a very prestigious hotel in days gone by. We booked lunch on 25th. It was still lovely. Red festive tablecloths, crackers and balloons greeted us . Menu was $15 each and whilst we had originally thought it ,was a choice of starters mains and puddings, it was actually the whole 9 course menu. What great value and what lovely food. We had to turn down the beef and just had the turkey main course as were getting too full. My auntie is allergic to onion so they swapped her minestrone soup for garlic mushrooms and wow did she enjoy them Loved the xmas pud ! . Very reasonably priced wine and exemplary service.

Thanks to the Courteney. Made a sad visit to Harare over christmas to visit a very sick loved one all the more bearable on christmas day !
