Located in South Central Serengeti, within the Moru Kopjes area, Serengeti Pioneer Camp is ideally situated to offer superlative access to the annual migration and the ‘Big 5’ with sweeping views overlooking Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi and the endless plains. Paying homage to the mobile camps of the 1930’s, a time when an African safari was truly a journey into the unknown, Serengeti Pioneer Camp’s ‘zero footprint’ and close proximity to nature combines to make an unmistakably distinctive and truly individual offering. Comprising of twelve-tented rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities including a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and showers, the tent interiors are designed to evoke the very best of an era long-gone but certainly not forgotten.

If you want to go "glamping" or high-end "camping" consider going to Pioneer Camp in Serengeti. This is a small camp of only 6-8 tents so it is exclusive, but because of this you can be assured of a very personal and immaculate experience in which you can really savor the camp, its location, the magnificent views of the plains and the hills, and enjoy the gracious friendly staff. Alan Root was the original owner of this camp. It has been upgraded to boast top-class large tents with "Out of Africa" furnishings providing luxurious accommodations, and with a hilltop lounge in which you can spend time at sunset/sunup marveling at the view. The cuisine is outstanding, made more so by the service and personal attention of the staff. There is a herd of impala that lives in the camp, you see them all the time. You might also see lions, buffalo, wildebeest, rock hyrax, vervet monkeys and baboons, and many birds. We loved this camp and we would return to it immediately, over all of the other options we have experienced in Serengeti.

We stayed 4 nights over Christmas 2020 and never wanted to leave! The tents and facilities are very comfortable, spacious, and clean - you really feel special enjoying that kind of luxury in the middle of the Serengeti! However what makes this camp so special is the amazing staff! They are super professional, friendly, and will make sure you have the most fantastic time in Tanzania! Special mention to Elimo, who took take of us 4 during our time there and made sure we had everything we needed! We keep talking about how much we miss him! Thank you also to Baraka, our unforgettable guide, who taught us so much during our Game Drives, not only about the animals and nature but about the Tanzanian culture and current events! Thank you as well to Juma, Justin, Rodger, Alex, the Chef, and everyone else! You made our Christmas Vacation truly special! We will be back! And in the meantime, we'll tell everyone we know to visit! :)

Stayed 2 nights during our first Safari experience. The view from this location was amazing and very beautiful. The room was TENT type, but surprisingly they put hot water in the bag and left in the bed. By doing this, even we slept very close to the ground, we could sleep very nicely. All the staffs were very friendly with good smiles. Especially Juma at the Restaurant was very helpful. Others like, Rodger (General Manager, i guess?) , Alex (housekeeper) and Chef were all helpful and very friendly. If we could, we should return to this place for a longer period!

I went on a Kenya and Tanzania safari from 9 to 20 September 2020, I stayed at the Serengeti Pioneer on the 16th and 17th, it is a superb Camp overlooking the Serengeti Park, perfectly framed in the environment, with a spectacular view, the tents they are reminiscent of the years of exploration in Africa, furniture is still from that time, properly adapted to comfort, it is like traveling in time, very attentive staff, it is worth going even in these pandemic times, very safe. We travel from Portugal

Having stayed at most camps and lodges in Serengeti we feel that Elewana Pioneer Camp is a special and outstanding one. This already starts with the arrival inside a formation of rocks that could have been used for the Lion King movie. After we got out of our safari vehicle we were guided up a walkway to the bar and lounge area where we were blown away by the views over the Serengeti. Our tent gave us an explorer feeling, as a lot of attention to detail was spent on the interior design. The bed was extremely comfortable, only the shower was a little small but absolutely sufficient for a shower after a game drive. For dinner we were spoiled with a romantic private dinner at the remote location a little bit away from the main dining area. The service and food we enjoyed was among the best we have ever received! We highly recommend to stay here!
