What an incredible time we had at Elewana Pioneer Camp, From the moment we were collected at the airport (and an impromptu game drive where we saw lions, elephants and giraffes) we were treated like royalty. Incredible service, with a personal butler for every meal - Titus was so thoughful and helpful, remembering all our preferences and making sure even the kids loved everything. Our driver Bless was an incredible guide, spotting animals and making sure we all saw Leopards on this trip! The tents are very comfortable, and it was great to have a few shared areas like the lodge and pool for relaxation after each safari. The food was top notch - some of the best we have had on any trip. A truly unforgettable experience.
Our three day stay at this spectacular place was the highlight of our recent fabulous, once-in-a-lifetime Safari trip. The camp evokes a by-gone day but with all the modern luxuries of chic and well equipped bathrooms, comfortable well appointed rooms, WIFI, and delicious food and drinks. The lodge is gorgeous with an incredible view over the Serengeti and family of Rock Hydrax for company. The food was some of the best we had on the trip - and that's saying alot! But what really made the camp was the staff - Elimo, our waiter, was a smiling, kind presence at all our meals, Raphael, the manager, was warm, welcoming, and attentive to all of our needs without ever being intrusive, and the rest of the smiling staff are incredible. A special shout out to our guide Wilson. He was THE highlight of our 9 day safari. Warm, funny, great company and really good at his job. We saw tons of animals -- several large prides of lions (one we were able to watch all by ourselves as the only truck), leopards, cheetahs, SO MANY zebras, baboons, hyenas . . . . Wilson was smart and knowledgeable and soon picked up on family favorites and made sure we saw them. He scouted out many special sights for us and made our trip really spectacular. We missed him at our next (and last) stop.…
We stayed at the pioneer camp for 3 nights. The tents were very well equipped. The staff were fantastic and could not do enough for us. The attention to detail was fantastic. The food was definitely 5* al a crate. The game drives were fantastic and our guide Bless was amazing ensuring we had the best time. We have done many 5*safari stays but this one tops them all. Our Masai warrior that walked us to our tent at night was great and to lay in bed and hear Lions roaring made it that much better. Special thanks to Frank for making us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the whole team
A couple of weeks ago our extended family of nine had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Pioneer camp for three nights. It is a gorgeous setting! The bar area is especially inviting with a beautiful view. The tents are well appointed with everything you could possibly need. Wifi was very strong throughout the entire camp. We enjoyed late afternoons relaxing at the pool before drinks/appetizers and card games in the bar area while we watched the sunset. The dining tent and outside eating area are lovely. The food was absolutely delicious! The chef was not only accommodating to the vegan and the vegetarian in our group but went even further to provide them both their own menus at each meal with several options. There sounds of animals close by "Serengeti concert" but we all felt safe with the Maasai escorting us and guarding the camp all night. Even more notable than all these wonderful perks of the camp, is the incredible staff! We were blown away by the warmth, friendliness, fun , and attentiveness of each staff member, We highly recommend the Pioneer Camp!…
I will not camp!!! but this was luxury from the moment we were greeted at reception by all the team and a hot towel... i was HAPPY, the staff cannot do enough for you and smile at all hours! The rooms / tents are magnificent and when the elephants are near it is exhilarating! the whole camp is magical and the views are breathtaking, the team and the food were 1st Class and they will go above and beyond to ensure you are happy and accommodated in every way! The guide and the safaris did not disappoint we saw everything and then had magnificent lunches out in the field! The Hot air balloon sun rise was breathtaking. and will be dreamt about for a long time. Elimo / Godbless / Rphael / Rodgers & Mali Mali were outstanding. HAPPY HOLIDAY
We just left Pioneer Camp after a three night stop on our honeymoon. The camp was absolutely incredible and satisfied everything I ever imagined for our safari honeymoon. Aside from the gorgeous aesthetic, the food was totally on point, but neither compares to the warmth of the staff. Jumo in particular was consistently on, even when setting up a 400AM coffee sit down for us before a balloon ride. Every dinner had a special message for us written out on the table Our guide Wilson, had an answer (and a smile!) for every little question we had for him. Everyone made us feel welcome and happy to return back to camp after the long days. I only hope we can go again.
Experienced a secluded tented 4 nts amongst the kopje rocks, splendidly serene views, attentive staff and quiet moments. Wait and support staff always nearby wanting to serve was an added bonus. The chef creates beautiful arrays and listens to allergies/dislikes for meal preps. Highly recommend. Thank you Said (manager) for running a smooth and hospitable operation.
We stayed at Pioneer Camp in early 2021 and we chose to return for a longer stay this year, based on our wonderful experience last time. This year's stay was just as memorable. The camp is situated quite centrally in Serengeti, accessible to many of the most visited sites in the park. The main building sits atop a large koppie, and the tents, pool, and dining tent are adjacent to the koppie. The views of the plains are truly spectacular. Sunrise just after 6am is something never forgotten. The tents are luxuriously furnished, but in "mobile tented camp" fashion that is very pleasing as well as comfortable. Sundowners, early morning coffee or breakfasts, and quiet time in the lounge atop the koppie are central to the enjoyable experience here. The staff are wonderful: efficient, attentive and professional but friendly. There is a central tent with facility for charging laptops, cell phones, etc. The camp and vicinity are alive with birdlife, and also with various other forms of wildlife: lions, hyenas, antelopes, baboons, and vervet monkeys. Hyrax live in the rocks of the koppie. A guard will accompany you to your tent for security. It is a lovely peaceful, welcoming place, this camp. We will return again for more. Try it: you will love it too and you will enjoy the staff as well.…
We stayed at the Pioneer Camp from March 17th through March 20th, 2022. It was a great experience and a great base to see all that the legendary Serengeti has to offer. John was our guide and lead us on the game drives all over. We saw many elephants, lions, hippos, baboons, giraffe, and many grazing animals. We got to see a pride of lions relaxing on the top of a large boulder and several sleeping comfortably in a tree. In the park, they did have to stay on the roads which were quite rough in places especially after rains. Also being March several areas had pretty tall grass especially near the lodge which limited what could be seen. Even large animals can disappear just two or three steps into the grass. The lodge and staff were wonderful. Benjamin and Juma were fantastic where Benjamin made sure we didn't want for anything and Juma would say almost anything to put a smile on our face. One night we were the only couple in camp and they set up the most amazing dinner just for the two of us. Rodgers and Raphael both made sure we were having a great time and had anything we needed. They even ran electricity to our tent which was very much appreciated. Marcel was great at maintaining our tent and turning over laundry to keep us fresh and ready for the next drive. The food and beverage felt quite elevated and yet was also plentiful and delicious. Recommend heading up to the lodge in the early evening to watch the Rock Hyrax on the top of the rocks watching them watch you.…
Wow what a fanatastic place complete with a local pride of lions nearby. We had two nights here and stayed in Tent 12 in front of the rocks. On our first afternoon we arrived- we were in the tent but 10 minutes when all of a sudden from behind the tent came rushing a herd of wildebeest who had come down from the rocks and ran straight in front of our tent! Amazing ! The staff were very friendly and welcoming- Clay, Raphael, Titus our waiter and all the other staff. The food was superb and the views from the main lodge breathtaking. The safaris we did were brilliant and our guide who had been with us since we enetered Tazanaia certainly knew his stuff. We saw our Third Leopard here, a charging Hippo, and so much more. This was probably one of my favourite camps, and the atmosphere around the place was fantastic- including the lions that were around and roared during the night- and they were not that far away! The tent itself had all the comforts you needed- luxery indeed. What a fantastic place this is- wish we had longer here.…
