Ubuntu Migration Camp stops at three spectacular locations across the north, west and south of the Serengeti, following in the tracks of massive herds of wildebeest as they cross the vast plains of the Serengeti in an ancient migration cycle. Shadowing the wildebeest's every move, Ubuntu Camp uncovers fascinating and unexplored corners of this great wilderness, ensuring that first-class game viewing is never far away. With their unwavering focus on keeping pace with the migration, Ubuntu's guides have an enviable reputation for bringing this remarkable natural phenomenon to life. The camp itself is intimate and personal, and the seven spacious tented suites epitomise traditional East African safari charm.

Our 4-day, 3-night stay at Ubuntu Camp, Asilia Africa in July/August 2023 was an absolute dream come true. From the very first day of our safari adventure, we were treated to an unforgettable experience that surpassed all expectations.

Our safari guide, the incredible kaka Rasul, was undeniably the shining star of our trip. A seasoned professional with a seemingly innate sense for wildlife, he made us feel safe and in awe throughout our adventure. Rasul's expert knowledge, combined with his fantastic sense of humor, turned every game drive into an unforgettable experience. He not only managed to spot nearly every animal on our wish-list but also made our time together incredibly enjoyable. We couldn't have asked for a better guide, and we felt safe and well-cared-for every step of the way with Rasul by our side.

The camp itself was a haven of comfort and cleanliness, just as I had envisioned. What left us truly puzzled (in the best possible way) was how our rooms were always tidied up to perfection while we were out exploring. It felt like magic, and we were constantly impressed.

Paul, the camp manager, deserves a special mention for his warm and welcoming demeanor. His personal greetings as we embarked on our daily adventures and returned from them made us feel like cherished guests. Paul's sense of humor, like the memorable "no dinner, just BBQ wildebeests" joke, created great memories.

Evenings spent by the campfire were a highlight, where we shared our safari stories with other guests and the camp's wonderful staff (another kaka Issa!). Their attentiveness and ever-present smiles created a warm and friendly atmosphere that made us feel right at home.

And then there's the food – oh, the food! Each meal was a culinary masterpiece, and the wine pairings were absolutely divine. We were so impressed that we never had to dip into the snacks we'd brought from home as a backup plan.

Our time at Ubuntu Camp, Asilia Africa, has etched unforgettable memories in our hearts. Saying goodbye to this incredible place and its extraordinary individuals is never easy. I can't recommend this camp enough to all my friends and fellow adventurers. A heartfelt thank you to Asilia and every exceptional person we had the pleasure of meeting at Ubuntu Camp, Asilia Africa!

Upon arriving at the beautiful and luxurious Migration camp, we were greeted by song and dance, every single camp employee was there to introduce themselves and make us feel at home. They made us feel that way every minute of our stay in the migration camp that felt more permanent than temporary! Everything from the running water, light fixtures/overall decor, to the delicious food, excellent service, and comfortable beds, we give Ubuntu our highest recommendation for those looking for a luxury migration camp in the Serengeti.
Thank you to the entire staff for making our trip so memorable. From Daniel, the head waiter always having a joke to share or a trick to play, there were constantly smiles around the fine dining tables. Truly a professional, always looking to please!
Alphonse, the head bartender or “Dr. Cocktail” as us guests quickly nicknamed him. Was great! He’s able to make the beautiful Serengeti sunsets or “Bush TV” even more special by crafting any cocktail your heart desires.
Joseph our room attendant, was a lifesaver. Hand delivering us coffee and cookies right when our wake up call was requested and ensuring we had a nice warm shower after a game drive. He truly made sure each day started with a smile and ended safely by escorting us to our turn-downed room after sharing laughs around the dinner tables.
Saed is so helpful and calming! He was always there to walk us through our experience, send us off with a smile for each game drive, and offer us peppermint washcloths as we returned.
The food prepared by Emmanuel, the head chef is out of this world good. Here you are in the middle of the Serengeti surrounded by natural beauty, and come lunchtime, with elephants and giraffes browsing an arms throw away, all you can do is look at (and devour) the beautiful meal that’s been placed in front of you.
Lastly, our trip would not have been the same without Sebastian, our game driver. With his unwavering optimism and skillful driving, we were able to see everything we had imagined the Serengeti could offer and more!
We can’t thank the entire staff enough for their attention to detail and amazing level of service. We can’t wait to recommend all of our friends to visit and share in such an amazing experience at Ubuntu Migration camp.

This tented camp was situated in the Southern Serengeti. From the moment we arrived when all the staff sang a greeting to the moment we left 3 days later we have never had better service at any resort or hotel (and we have travelled all 7 continents). Although the Serengeti is vast our guide Alehayo was able to show us an amazing range of animals and birds including; a pride of Lions, a clan of Hyenas and a Tower of Giraffes. We also saw a double Cheetah kill and a rare Caracal. As for the camp itself; the food was exceptional and all the drinks were included. Every evening we sat around a camp fire and were served with cocktails and canapés before dinner. The tent was spacious and amazingly well appointed considering we were in the bush, including flushing toilets and a hot shower on request. We cannot recommend this camp highly enough.. With a special thank you to Samual and his team and our fabulous guide Alphayo.

This is a luxury camp that migrates to accommodate the great migration, this is to most, a once in a lifetime moment.

The tents contain a comfortable clean bed, with a 2 piece bathroom, one side contains the shower and sink area with a closet area and spacious place to put your belongings and they other side a private bathroom with a western toilet (with or without a view, your choice)

In the morning after you have an amazing breakfast, you set off to do a safari, when you get back, you get served a beautiful lunch while sitting on the Serengeti watching all the activity around you, whether it’s a group of zebras or buffaloes that walk through or a giraffe, its amazing!

Following lunch, depending on your wants, your particular guide will take you out to see more safari or you can enjoy the grounds and relax. Our guide was with Leopard tours.

George is incredibly knowledgeable and knows so much about the animals and Serengeti, he will make sure that you and your group have the best time.

In the evening, prior to dinner, there is a happy hour around the camp fire, the staff will sing songs, perform traditional dance and engage in conversations so that you can learn more about their tribes, culture, food, traditions and much more. The group sang a song about me, it was so special, they included my Swahili name Malika in the song. The staff do their very best to make every guest feel special, and they are great with children, accommodating food and activities.

By the time my husband and I left, the group taught us how to say all the names of the animal’s we were seeing in Swahili (one of the many local languages) J

We are so grateful to the staff at Ubuntu Camp,
If you are looking for a true Serengeti experience, we encourage you to stay here on safari.

My husband and I would like to thank each and every person at Camp Ubuntu that worked with the group and those that worked behind the scenes. Our time spent at the Ubuntu Camp was absolutely spectacular because of each and everyone of you, we appreciate all of your time and the work put in.

Each of you are gifted and talented, and it is because of your teamwork and passion that makes the customer experience spectacular.

What an amazing vacation! Fabulous tented camp with large, spacious tents with en suite bathroom, warm showers and flushing toilet. Comfortable bed (with turn down service with hot water bottle!), beautiful outlook - supported by great team of friendly attentive staff; delicious meals and inclusive wine and other drinks. Special should out for guides Emmanuel and Keko - very knowledgable, able to spot animals at vast distance and safely get us close to them - VERY close. Would love to return!!

If you are looking for a high end Safari location, this is the place. Everything about our experience was phenomenal and the three days we spent at camp flew by. The staff were all so kind and knowledgeable. The room was excellent: we had two single beds that fit under a bug net, a desk which included several charging ports that accepted most types of plugs + USB ports, a separate washroom area with dual sinks and a room for the toilet and room for the shower + the outdoor shower area. The safaris themselves were even better than I could have hoped. Our guide, Michael, was able to set up a plan so that we could see all of the animals we were hoping to see including a Leopard, lions (including some that had killed and were eating a wildebeest!), elephants, hippos, giraffes, a cheetah, etc. We were in the open version of the car which is a must if you want to really feel a part of the environment. It was fully stocked with drinks and had comfortable seats and great views. Overall, I would definitely come back to this camp again!

We stayed in the family tent at Ubuntu for 3 nights in late December as the first stop on our 9 day safari. The camp location is spectacular with every tent having unobstructed views onto a beautiful open valley. During our visit, the camp was in the southern serengeti, which was really nice because it was removed from the heavy vehicle traffic of the seronera region where our next camp was. Our excellent guide Sabai took us on some amazing game drives where we saw a lot of lions, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, etc. Sabai worked hard to find great sightings for us and was extremely knowledgable about all the animals. He even took us on a detour one day to find a rare Serval cat which had been seen nearby, which was super cool.

At the camp, I cant say enough about the staff who really made us feel special during our stay there. Everything about the camp was perfect - refreshing towels after the game drives, beautiful tents and morning wake-up-call coffee service, laundry service, sunset cocktails, and delicious meals. This was our first safari experience and everything about Ubuntu exceeded our high expectations.

After 2 years of postponements due to Covid we finally arrived at our Serengeti trip organised by Lankaster White. My wife and I (from South Africa) met our UK friends in Nairobi and travelled together to Ubuntu for 2 nights. On the way to camp after being picked up from the airport, our fantastic guide Festo informed us that the 1st Wildebeest crossing could be happening and should we go and try and see it???

What a question, that is why we there there!!! Off we went on and waited for about 30 minutes before they crossed. During the crossisng a croc took a wildebeest and right next to us a leopard also managed to get one. All this before we had even arrived at camp!!

At camp the tented rooms with bucket showers were brilliant and added to the experience of being right next to the Mara River at the start of the migration. Lions and Hyenas fighting over a kill next to camp on the 2nd night completed it.

The service and food was excellent and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating.

It was everything I had hoped for and more!!

(We stayed the at Northern Ubuntu Camp at the beginning of July. From here you are right next to the Mara River and have Serengeti plains behing you. At the river you get the crossings and at the plains you can se the big cats.)

Ubuntu migration camp was an amazing experience. Let me start off with setting expectations that this is not a lodge, it is a mobile camp in the middle of the bush. It is 5 star service. From when you pull into the camp, the food, service, and rangers are top notch. The team is so attentive and pays attention to the smallest details. My children had a blast (8 and 10 years old) and the team was so family friendly. Some in my party had special dietary preferences (vegetarian) and staff was so accommodating and the food was SO good.

I don’t want to give away the secrets, but be ready for first class treatment. It’s amazing how they are able to pull off all they do logistically not being a permanent lodge.

Remember, this is a mobile camp, so expect bugs, flies, and occasional unexpected critters in your tent and in the evening.

The “tents” are superb with bedroom and bathroom (running water, toilet, hot bucket shower). We had a family of four and stayed in the family tent which even had a living room with couches!

The entire team is top notch, and would like to give special thanks to our rangers (Emmanuel and Sabaya), the chef (Thomas), waiter (Frank), room attendant (Andrew), and manager (Dickson).

I would recommend Ubuntu to anyone that wants a unique Safari experience, and open to a “luxury camp” environment.

We had the most amazing time during our 3 night stay at Ubuntu. The location was perfect, close to the river (north side, I understand it has moved location slightly post-covid) to help with river crossing sightings, and right in the thick of the action. Hippos grunting and hyenas laughing during the night, but we always felt safe with the staff close by. The drives were incredible and we experienced everything we hoped to and more, not least because of Festo our guide - who was exceptional. Food was great and the vibe in the evenings was very familial, catching up with all of the guests on the day’s events. Samuel and the team made us feel very welcome from the start and went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect stay. Thanks again!

Hi jaimesteffen24, it is approximately 1hour 30 min - 2hours drive from Ubuntu Camp (West) to Dunia Camp.
