Our experience at Embalakai was phenomenal. We have continued to talk about how this is one of the coolest places we've stayed on any of our trips and my fiance and I are both avid travelers!

Staff were helpful, always friendly, and very knowledgable. Food was delicious (and when there was a soup or an appetizer I didn't want to eat because of my diabetes, they were always so flexible in bringing me an alt option!), our tent was very comfortable. We traveled across Tanzania for 2.5 weeks and this shower was one of our best in the entire country - both in consistent hot water and water pressure. We could always charge our phones and our cameras at night, and the wifi was reliable in our tent.

We saw a family of monkeys, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, hyena, buffalo, and antelope at camp in our 2 days there, and we heard lions at night! A great launching point for being able to have all-day game drives in the Serengeti.

We always felt safe and protected - the Massai warriors walk you to your room and the main tent at night, and our room was very secure.

Rooms are tented walls with a screen layer and a layer like a blackout curtain, and we slept incredibly well in our king bed. Would absolutely return to Embalakai Camps!!

We have spent 2 nights at the Embalakai Camp with my boyfriend and we simply loved so much the staff, the tent, the food, the services they provide… everything was simply perfect.
In the tent there is a shower, toilet, new towels everyday, the food is really good and different all the time, employees always have the smile and are always helpful and happy to see new guests.

My boyfriend asked the staff to help him to organize for a proposal and they simply did their best for this occasion (special romantic dinner and setting, provided all the equipment to make a romantic set up at the location requested by my fiancé, romantic set up in the tent on the bed…).

I highly recommend this accommodation. You’ll never be disappointed!

An amazing tented lodge in the middle of the Serengeti. This truly is a magical setting with the birds singing, the baboons playing in the trees, the elephant walking on by, giraffes grazing and the occasional roar of the passing lions.

The accommodation is quite beautiful and very cosy which is the perfect way to unwind at the end of a long day on safari. The tents are perfectly equipped and even have hot water, plug sockets, WiFi and even a radio to call through if you need anything or for when you need the maasai warrior to escort you over to he evening meal. The food was fabulous and what a way to end the day...sat by a roaring fire with nature all around with a nice cup of hot chocolate.

The staff couldn't have done more and were super friendly and helpful. This place is a must of you want to experience a true slice of Tanzania.

Wow, what a place! We could not believe when we literally were watching herds of zebra and giraffe and then turn down one tiny dirt road and arrived at the camp! Expect some wildlife noises at night!

On our five day tour of Tanzania we stayed at hotels and luxury lodges but the food at the camp was better than anything else hands down! How they managed to pull that off I have no idea but hats off to the chefs! A little tip, just keep an eye on your water at this point of your trip. You cannot drink any of the tap water of course, so the bottles you have brought with you are basically everything you have and bottles at the camp are not unlimited. My advice is to buy extra water each day of your stay to ensure you do not run out.

The rooms were absolutely lovely, the beds were clean and neat and mosquito nets were on everything. My only little grumble there was a hole in ours, but a quick knot sealed it up. As in all camps, keep your luggage zipped and off the floor. The showers were great and warm and yes my fellow western tourists there were western toilets throughout!

Embalakai does a brilliant job of brining some luxuries while getting you right into the heart of things. Putting your feet up around a camp fire with a G&T in hand with baboons squabbling in the trees is something special. Make sure you have some single dollars on you for tips, everyone is so keen for you to be happy and comfortable it is hard not to want to tip these lovely people.

The one thing that did spoil the experience a bit was checking out at the end of the stay. We were told card payments were perfectly fine but then at the end the card reader was not working. So there was a rather awkward end to our stay were we needed to cough up cash (basically every penny we had) for all the drinks and extras we had paid for expecting to be able to pay on card at the end. If we had simply been told its cash only we would have watched what we spent more closely and not had an issue. So lesson learned, have cash to cover everything you spend at this point of your tour.

Overall a brilliant experience, book here and have a wonderful time with these special people and stunning scenery!

Dear,Charlesgrey89. We would like to begin by thanking you for the time you have taken to share your experience with us as well as for your preference in selecting embalakai camp. We glad to hear that the food and the staff is appreciated as well as our facilities and amazing view, with wild animals surrounding the camp. However we truly regret that your stay at Embalakai did not fully meet your expectations regarding water experience we would like to inform you that the camp offer safe and clean water for drinking on refilled jugs that are placed in every room,we do this because we try to avoid the use of plastic bottles as much as we can to preserve the environment. We are also sorry that you experience problem while trying to make payments,we accept online payments such as pesapal but due to the remoteness of the area the camp is located some few times we do experience network problem. Thank you for your important feedback that will help us to make any necessary actions to keep improving day by day. We are looking forward to having the opportunity to welcome you back soon. Kind regards The Embalakai camp Team.

We spent 2 nights in Embalakai Authentic Camps during our trip to the Serengeti. It was an experience not to be missed. The location itself was so serene, the sunrise was breathtaking and it was a great way to experience the Serengeti. The tents were very comfortable and had more than just your basic necessities. It was equipped with 2 beds with a mosquito net, a bathroom and even a 2 seater sofa. It was very spacious.
They provided drinking water in each tent, as well as towels, robes, toothbrushes and soaps. It was equipped with most items you would find in a hotel room.

The staff members, Filomena, Brian, Augustas, Sarah and Musa made our stay exceptionally comfortable. They were so accommodating and always greeted us warmly. They were all very friendly! Filomena and Sarah made sure we were taken care of during meal times and Brian took great care to explain to us about the accommodation during check-in. Augustas was always there to help us when we needed anything no matter what time it was.
We were so close to wildlife but were always kept safe thanks to Musa, who accompanied us whenever we were outside our tent and was always friendly!

A highly recommended accommodation in the Serengeti!

Embalakai is a unique, authentic way to experience the Serengeti. There's nothing like hearing lions & hyenas at night. I spent two nights here and felt safe the entire time. The staff are also great. The rooms are kept very clean. The water is not potable, but you're provided with a bottle of water every day. The water in the shower heats up within a few minutes & water pressure is good. Towels are provided. The tent is spacious, very comfortable, and has all the amenities that you'd expect to find in a hotel room. There' plenty of room for luggage. Internet is available in the room and common area, but was slow for me (other guests I talked to didn't have issues though). There's a nice fire pit outside the fire pit to socialize around. I was really impressed with the quality of the food considering we were in the Serengeti. Power is provided from generators. There are no restrictions on when power is available. No issues charging device like phones & laptops, but you can't use high powered items like blow dryers. I really enjoyed my stay here and highly recommend it.

Thank you John for your lovely feedback,It is true at night you can always hear hyenas and lions and sometimes during evening when sitting at our fire place you might even see them a bit close to the camp. The rooms are really specious with WiFi all the time but since it is in the middle of the bush sometimes may have low signal in some rooms. We do have a very strong solar system to supply power at our camp thats why we do have power 24/7,we use generator only when it is raining season and our solars have no enough energy to run the camp. We hope that you will plan again your trip back to Serengeti. Thank you and KARIBU TENA. Best Regards, Embalakai Team

We weren't sure what to expect from a tented lodge, but when we stepped over the threshold we were amazed at the quality provided. We received a warm welcome from the staff, and were presented with a well needed welcome drink of fresh juice.

We were escorted to our tent and were overwhelmed. It was absolutely huge and consisted of a living area, large bed, dressing area (with robes and slippers), shower and toilet. There was filtered water provided, hardwood floors, ample sockets and even WiFi. The decor was beautiful.

The tent even had its own balcony so we could sit out and watch the baboons play, and listen to the sounds of nature.

The food and hospitality were wonderful. The staff sang and danced for us, and we shared cake.

We felt so welcomed here and the location was great - plenty of nature around (which is why you're not allowed out without an escort after sunset!). I would definitely recommend staying here.

Dear Rosie_firefly, We are thankful for this amazing and detailed review of our camp, in particular the camp facilities, the care, food and the services from our staff. Our entire team works very hard, in a spectacular but remote setting, and nothing makes us happier than to know that guests have gone away with fantastic memories such as yours. And it truly seems you enjoyed so much of what Embalakai Camps and the Serengeti has to offer. We thank you and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you all back soon. My husband and I stayed at Embalakai for 3 nights while on a week safari. This was by far our favorite place that we stayed. It’s in the wilderness so you can hear buffalo and lions walk by your tent at night! We loved the room. The tent is spacious, bed is comfy, and the overall condition is fairly new. The shower pressure and temperature were actually the best we have had in Tanzania so far. Food was delicious - best boxed lunches. Our drinks were included so it was fun to relax with wine and popcorn by the campfire (bush TV). The staff are true professionals when it comes to customer service. Massai guards escort us to our tent, and helped chase away buffalo. They even took the time to show us how to light a fire using sticks, and taught us about Massai culture. The staff wear masks and sanitize all your bags when you arrive. There’s a hand sanitizer and hand washing station outside the main dining tent. You’re equipped with a radio to contact staff at any time. If you’re staying in Central Serengeti, don’t miss an opportunity to experience this place.

We were a family of 4 with 2 teens and spent 2 nights in the camp. The hospitality of the staff was very cordial , Julius was very friendly and hilarious when introducing anything, like dinner menu or so. The tent are well equipped with furniture , toilets, showers and more importantly with excellent Wifi connection :). They were very flexible to add a 4th bed in our tent in no time. The food was amazing and Halal!! The food quality was even better than in other lodgers we've ben in. honestly we loved it there more than in more luxurious lodge. The only improvement , I will suggest is to dust better the tents , especially under mats and beds. it is still our best camp in Serengeti.

Yes. You pay for all drinks. It starts in USD$2/bottle for sprite. $6 for Kilimanjaro beer and goes with type, brand and age! Avid offering local currency, unless you are into capturing sad faces in your memory banks.
