Property's Favourite Review
We have just spent two nights at the Melia Serengeti hotel and had the most incredible experience. Upon arrival at the Seronara airstrip our safari guide, Vincent, collected us and took us straight for a picnic at a campsite in the Serengeti. From there we set off for a 4 hour safari on the way back to the hotel. Upon checking into the hotel the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and had kindly upgraded us to the Savanah View room. The hotel lobby is beautiful, open and light with lovely wood decor. Our room was lovely and spacious with a shower, bathroom, kitchenette with mini bar and kettle, wardrobe, ironing board and iron and a lovely four poster bed with a draped mosquito net. We also had a lovely terrace with cushioned seating area and it had amazing views at sunset. As the hotel was quiet (sadly as a result of covid) the staff treated us and the other guests to a complimentary dining experience at the Boma restaurant around the fire pit. The food was delightful and we had a lovely choice on the set menu option. For security, the hotel employs members of the Masai Tribe who would escort us back to our room each night for safety. The breakfast was incredible with a wide selection of pastries, fruit, eggs, waffles, juices and coffee which tasted even better whilst looking over the views of the Serengeti. We had the choice of which safari we wanted for our second day so we opted for a morning safari so we could arrive back to the hotel for lunch - we also had the option of a full day safari but we wanted to spend the afternoon enjoying the hotel facilities. That afternoon I treated myself to a massage at the spa which was perfect after a hectic day safari. The following morning we were up early again and had breakfast before checking out and setting off early for the airport as we were hoping incase we saw anything on the way... and did we see some sights!! We first came across a pride of 9 lions with 4 small Cubs! We sat watching them for a while and moved on. About 5 minutes up the road were two males on the road side following a scent. We were so close to them! The strolled in front of our car and carried on into the bushes. We then saw them stalking another female with 6-7 young cubs! The Cubs ran off to the right whilst the mum walked to the left. The largest male began to track her and it turned into a chase as the male started running after the female!! We followed parallel to them and realized behind us on the left side of the road was a family of giraffes who also started running as they had spotted the lions as well! Overall our stay at Melia was absolutely perfect from start to finish and we would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

I was staying in Gran Meliá Arusha for a week whilst waiting for my boyfriend to complete the Kilimanjaro climb and I had a whole weekend to myself where I felt I wanted to do something. Gran Meliá Arusha helped me with all travel arrangement to Meliá Serengeti - and because the hotel arranged everything I felt very safe (as a solo female traveller). I took the small plane to get to Serengeti (and almost freaked out as I was the only passenger 😱). When I landed at Serengeti, the hotel / safari pick up car was waiting there for me - Joshua was the kindest ever!!! I did a 2 night package including safari so I didn’t have to do everything extra and this was the perfect package for me. The safari drive started from airport (I landed early morning) and we drove the entire day (got to hotel for sunset). I literally didn’t expect anything - I was just happy to be out in nature after going through lockdown in UK. I was the only passenger in the safari drive and Joshua made sure I was comfortable, had a lot the water I need, got plenty of photo opportunity. But what I experience was literally out of this world!!! I saw hippos, blue-ball monkeys, alligators, two leopards sleeping in a tree, lions, migration, a huge heard of elephants .... literally I could not believe my eyes!!!!! I was simply in awe! It was an experience I hadn’t event dream of. Even more, because of the pandemic, most of the time we were the only car around!!! A surreal moment was when the car was surrounded by the migration .... it was like being in a movie!!!!! So after a whole day safari, I literally arrived at the hotel in complete disbelief of my experience. But what awaited me was the most stunning property ..... as you walk down the stairs to the dining and pool area you are greeted with this spectacular vista of the Serengeti and if you’re as lucky as me, see the heard of elephants just strolling pass. The rooms are very comfortable but the views from the rooms are heavenly. I did not want to miss a single moment so I left curtains open all night. I woke up early morning and saw gazelles grazing from my window!!!! Dinners were simply spectacular! As I took the package the meals were included and they are not at all shy with their portions!!!! Everting was prepared to excellence, delicious and with the warmest of service. As a solo female diner I did not feel awkward for a single second - instead I felt very much at home and was looked after very well. The surprise was when the GM Cesar came over to greet me personally - totally unexpected for me! He knew from my profile that I have been to a few Melia property and that I do use the Reward points :). He made sure I was well looked after which I was indeed! I had the pleasure to meet Cesar again at Gran Meliá Arusha and again, he made sure that I was also well looked after there ;). The highlight however was when I met Cesar yet again (what a small world!) in ME Dubai .... he still recognised me! One never forgets people who are very hospitable and welcoming and it is always an immense pleasure to meet Cesar again because it always reminded me of my amazing time in Serengeti. It was the first time that I travelled alone in Africa, in a country that I had never been, and I was somewhat apprehensive but everyone in the hotel has made it impossible for me to feel anything but comfortable, cosy and at home - and for that I shall always be grateful and will forever remember that trip! Thank you Meliá Serengeti, you are amazing! Cesar, I hope to see you again. And next I will have to take my boyfriend there!!!!! :)
