I stayed at the Hyatt for one night before flying back to the US. I booked it because it’s supposed to be one of the nicest hotels in Dar and I didn’t want to have to worry about anything in my way out of Tanzania. Immediately however I had tons of trouble getting straight answers from the staff by email about Covid testing options to fly back to the US. After I got to the hotel, the front desk also gave me faulty information about exit requirements - they said a rapid test is mandatory to leave Tanzania but it is not, which meant I got to the airport 2 hours earlier than I actually needed to. There were also issues with the bar staff being very inattentive, and the pool table not working. The Asian restaurant on site is also wildly overpriced for what it is. On the positive side, many of the staff members were very friendly and helpful. The massage was the highlight of my stay and the spa facilities were very nice. I also enjoyed using the gym.

The Hyatt is one of two 5 star hotels in Dar es Salaam and the only one in the city centre. It’s primarily a business hotel but is also good for other travellers. It has a nice pool, a great rooftop bar and in general good facilities. If you have the opportunity I would definitely recommend going to Sunday brunch, the food is great and there is live entertainment. In general the dining options are very good at this hotel. I think the one down side to our stay (was there with my girlfriend) was when we booked a photo shoot session (you need permission from the hotel if you are doing a professional photo shoot) the photographer was not allowed to take pictures neither in the back room garden nor the pool area. Given that this was Monday morning and not a busy time this was unfortunate since the other areas to take photos are not really unique (at least if you are looking for unique shoots with a professional model). However, this is not a major thing for most people. Would recommend the hotel.

Dear icecool81 I would like to thank you for sharing your great review of our hotel! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your experience and the hotel facilities, particularly the pool and rooftop bar, as well as the food and the live entertainment during Sunday brunch. Thank you for recommending our Sunday brunch and our hotel to other travelers and the community. We really appreciate it! Also, we acknowledge your comment about the challenges you faced during your photo shoot session. May I ask if you mentioned bringing a professional photographer to any of our staff members during the process? Please be advised that a photo-shoot application form is required and need to engage the staff for more cooperation. Regardless of that, we are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectation in this area. We hope you will visit again soon and allow us to exceed your expectations. Thank you sincerely and regards, Garry Friend

Wow Hyatt Regency as the name embodies "The Kilimanjaro" surely boasts the home of true hospitality. We visited on a business trip and our stay is entirely summarized as "elegant excellent experience" from the Airport we were warmly received by Essa who patiently waited for us for close to 3 hours despite the flight delay and airport delays due to covid checks on arrival. He took us to the hotel roughly 15 minutes drive from the airport orienting us about the hotel and the city as it was our first time visiting Dar es Salaam. On arrival the entire team was very welcoming from security to entire front office team and checkin was smooth and fast. The hotel is very beautiful, sparkling clean and observing covid protocols throughout in Rooms and Restaurants this was very impressive, we applaud Mr. Garry (The GM) and his entire team. The rooms were very clean throughout our stay and covid fumigation schedules observed and communicated prior in case you have allergies there was ample time to notify for a special arrangement. In dining experience was great with amazing ambience and scrumptious meals with a fusion menu to cater for different international races: from Indian to Chinese and variety of traditional, western, oriental and seafood dishes too. We had a combination of Ala carte and buffets during our stay and all was on-point. The highlight was the Bento Box for lunches and Swahili night serving traditional cuisine every Friday do try it out when you visit. Unfortunately we missed the Sunday brunches served every Sunday as it always clashed with our itinerary. There are plenty of amenities: Swimming pool facing the ocean, Spa facilities, Gym, Sauna, Bank, Travel agent, curio shop, etc. The hotel is centrally located making it ideal and convenient to most attractions and services: its a 5 minutes walk to Zanzibar Ferry Port (do schedule a trip to Zanzibar before you leave its just 1hr 30mins cruise from Dar es Salaam great experience you can't afford to miss), it has stunning coastal and city views which you can experience from the Roof Top Level 8 bar whilst enjoying the breeze and remember to order the Kilimanjaro, Serengeti and mouth watering Mocktails or cocktails... It's positioning makes it perfect to take a sunset jog to refresh along the coast after a long busy day of meetings, emails and calls... Remember to take your camera with you to capture the lifetime sunset and Indian Ocean scenic views. The city never sleeps and is very safe hence you can do your shopping at night though some shops close to the hotel close earlier around 8pm but you can order an Uber to drive you down town. I could go on and on... Hope this is helpful, feel free to inbox or drop a comment for further info... Enjoy your stay at Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam (The Kilimanjaro), I look forward to my next trip 😁😁😁

It is a great place to stay while in Dar-es-Salaam. Highly recommendable hotel. Rooms are excellent. Improvement could be made on breakfast. Menu doesn't change much, same food served everyday at breakfast.
