Peninsula Hotel Dar Es Salaam is highly regarded for its comprehensive amenities and the warm, attentive service provided by its staff. Nestled in a convenient location, the hotel is a favorite for its accessibility to local attractions and safety. The peninsula hotel is excellent. In particular, the staff is amazing. Everyone is friendly and smiling — real, genuine smiles…. They take a real interest in ensuring that each guest is having a great experience.

When a bottled beverage fell out of my refrigerator and shattered, housekeeping was there within three minutes and the maintenance person was there one minute later to adjust the appliance so that it wouldn’t happen again.

The staff at the front desk are happy to arrange a driver when needed, the bartender is great, and the porters are always cheery…. I look forward to returning

My husband and I have stayed in the Peninsula Hotel in Dar es Salaam for about a week now and it is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The rooms are large with many mirrors, recessed lighting, comfortable beds, storage space, a seating area, beautiful views, a small refrigerator, air conditioning, a large private bathroom with international-level features, and a flat-screen television with international programming. Everything is clean and the cleaning staff do a great job every day. The hallways even shine.

There is a complimentary breakfast included and other meals available for purchase (I believe some room combos include more meals). The food is very tasty and the customer service is impeccable both at the restaurant and at the front desk and all of the employees are very friendly and courteous. The managers are always solicitous of our well-being as well. I am from the USA and I have had a better experience here at the Peninsula than I have had in most, if not all, hotels where I have stayed in the US.

On the plus side, I thought the staff here were excellent, all super friendly and genuine. The online booking system was straightforward and the price was fair. On the downside, breakfast had not been included (maybe my mistake, but I thought I checked) so I had to pay $10/day extra on arrival. Overall, the hotel is a bit of a 1990s throwback. Huge lobby, huge rooms, clunky dark brown finishings, all quite ostentatious, and feels about 200% larger in all dimensions than strictly necessary! Everything is in good working order and it was clean and well looked after. The wifi worked fine, as did the AC, the showers, etc etc. But it honestly felt tired, with minor repairs and fills to floors, worktops, sink surrounds, tiling, etc. The hotel has been around for several decades and gone through a number of makeovers, and in my view it's time for some upgrades and a modern spruce-up, especially to move away from the heavy dark brown to something lighter and more modern. Maybe it's just personal taste. But the price was great for this part of Dar, there are loads of great places to eat within walking distance or a short taxi ride, and I slept well in quiet surroundings in a comfortable bed. So no real issues that affected the actual quality of the stay, just that I think they could pull themselves up to date with a targeted makeover. Last point on breakfast - the coffee machine needs a fix! Very weak and not actually sure if it was dispensing coffee or some other milky drink!

We had booked two rooms for two nights and had a pleasant stay. The rooms are large and updated and the bathroom was huge and clean. Check in was a breeze and although the elevator was broken, the porter was very helpful in assisting us up the stairs with our luggage. The front desk staff was also great with organizing Uber rides etc.

I assume that the hotel caters mostly to business travels because the staff was on the A game on weekdays. It started to go downhill on the weekend. We had a flight to catch at 9am on Saturday morning and arrived at the restaurant for breakfast. It was supposed to start at 6:30 am but there was nobody there until 6:45. There was one server and we had to ask her to turn the AC on. The only thing ready was dry cereals but there was no milk, juices, tea etc. We waited till 7am and then left because it was taking too long. Check out was awful - the reservation manager who had made the booking hadn’t done it properly and was unavailable. The receptionist on duty didn’t know what to do and there was confusion and delays. Not the type of experience you want while you’re trying to rush.

If it wasn’t for the last morning’s clueless delays, this would have been a good stay.

Everyone at the peninsula hotel was really friendly and helpful. They really made us feel at home. The room itself was spacious, clean, and we loved having a balcony. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The only thing was the water pressure for the overhead shower wasn’t strong enough so we used the tap in the shower and it was fine.

Absolutely enjoyed our stay and would stay again! Thank you everyone

Dear Jockamo. In my experience, the hotel's reception desk is open 24/7 hence can check in upon your arrival, henceforth no need to book the room on 8th Dec while arriving on 9th Dec. However, to avoid any suprises, I urge you book online ( for a room for 9th Dec)prior to your arrival.
