The hotel is really good if you want to be close to the Zanzibar Ferry (it is only a five minute walk). The room itself is basic but does have air conditioning which is very important considering the humidity. However, the best part of the hotel is the staff. They are very friendly and were always willing to help and offer assistance.

This is a budget hotel with best advantage of its location. Ferry to go to Zanzibar is a 5 minutes walk. Banks, restaurants, essential shops, super market stores are all within walking distance. Uber and other taxi options are available in plenty. Hotel offers a basic breakfast, rooms are clean, with laundry and air conditioning available. I had some issues with the wifi connection after three days. Front desk is responsive and I got an early check in for which I am grateful.

Pleasantly surprised as had read some bad reviews. We ended up staying twice on our journey through Tanzania. Room was clean, we had good Wifi, plenty hot water for showers, aircon worked, good breakfast, friendly helpful staff. Central location close to the ferry, with good food options nearby. You can leave your luggage too if you have a late flight. Any problems/requests were dealt with quickly. Great views of the city from higher floors. Felt safe out at night. No complaints on our part.

The Rainbow Hotel is a fantastic place to stay. We had a great experience here. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, the room was affordable and very comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and the location can't be beat! After the Airbnb we booked fell through, we wandered into the Rainbow Hotel and they gave us a nice deal. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it!

We slept there for 1 night, paid 60USD and would never sleep there again. The bathrooms are bad. The rooms smell stuffed and like they haven’t been used in forever. I was afraid we’d get flu from the smell and you know how bad it can be to get glue while on vacation in this covid era. The door to the balcony wouldn’t lock so we had to put a chair against it for safety. We barely slept that night and we couldn’t wait to leave and were out of there by 5:30am. The room we slept in was so unhygienic we couldn’t bear to take a bath there or eat breakfast. The only good thing with the hotel is that it’s a walking distance to the dock where you take ferries. We moved to another hotel that was cheaper but better in every way. We saw nice reviews for the hotel so our only conclusion was that the reviews were too old. The hotel needs some renovation and cleaning

This is perhaps the best hotel you can choose in case you are in Dar es Salaam to catch the ferry to Zanzibar. It is only 7 min walk to the port. Very convinient! The hotel itself is very nice. The staff was helpful and the room was clean. The TV in the room has many channels and both the AC and the ceiling fan cooled pretty well (although the AC was a bit noisy). The breakfast buffet was worth the price paid for the room and the overall value for this hotel is excellent. A big plus is the convinient store located just across the street from the hotel. Great!

The price looks attractive but they are very dirty. The rooms are smelling and stinking, I found the bedsheets not washed and I had to change rooms the room I changed to was worse. I had to stand the filth smell for the night. The breakfast is ordinary nothing special. The rooms and facilities are old and not well maintained , floors not well cleaned . If you want a clean stay. Don't bother. I regret my time and money I paid

This hotel is very, very central. It is a short walk towards the ferries to Zanzibar. It is also close to very good street food and good restaurants. The fish market, the national museum and other interesting places are also within walking range. The hotel’s staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
