I booked Riad Kniza after reading the positive reviews here on Tripadvisor and it lived up to the hype! The Riad is very easy to locate from the gates. I booked a taxi through the hotel from the airport and someone from the hotel met me to walk me and my baggage to the Riad. Some people have mentioned that the location is a bit dodgy however I do not agree with this and never felt unsafe as a single female traveller. It’s just local people going about their daily lives in the area and not harassing you like in the souk. The Riad is opulent and my arrival was met with a fantastic greeting with mint tea and pastries. I stayed in the standard room which had a massive comfy bed and a good sized bathroom. The tv and decor were a bit dated however this did not affect my stay. On the first morning I had breakfast in one of the rooms due to rain therefore not being able to eat up on the roof. I had a beautiful dining room to myself with a crackling fire with a breakfast fit to feed a small army. I had to request a smaller breakfast for the following 2 days :) I did make use of the roof, when the weather improved, and enjoyed the views of the medina over breakfast and an afternoon wine (very reasonable prices). I also dined in the riad one evening and my tagine was very tasty. What makes Riad Kniza so special is it’s staff. The service from reception to cleaning staff is second to none. They make you feel like royalty without being intrusive. I also had the pleasure of visiting the owner’s (Mohamed’s) museum opposite the Riad. I loved hearing how passionate Mohamed is about his project as well as the Moroccan culture - the view from the roof is amazing too. In terms of location the riad is easily accessible and you can walk to the main squares and other places such as the marjorelle gardens (all in about 15-20 slow stroll). If you don’t fancy the walk there are many cabs seconds away from the Riad. I had a magical stay here and have already recommended this Riad to my friends and family. I would 100% stay here again and look forward to another trip.…
Tucked away down a small side street just a few minutes away from Bab Doukkala and inside the Medina walls hides a secret paradise. Behind the sturdy wooden door, you will be welcomed into beautiful Riad Kniza with its indoor pool, maze of beautifully decorated rooms and relaxing roof top terrace. It’s a perfect haven away from the hussle and bustle of the medina and is perfectly situated to reach most of the main sites by foot (nowhere takes more than 20 minutes). I had researched so many Riads for this special 4 night stay and although Covid delayed our visit by 2 years, our original booking was honoured and all communication was efficient, polite and relaxed. On arrival, we were shown to a calm seating area and offered aromatic mint tea and tasty snacks. Our gorgeous room, a senior suite, was situated up a winding flight of stairs on the second floor and is 1 of 11 rooms that Kniza has to offer. It did not disappoint. We had requested dinner here for our first night as we arrived quite late. Salma suggested the set menu. It was delicious but SO filling. We had appetisers, bread, chicken pastillas, a selection of salads, a tagline each and then dessert! Make sure you are REALLY hungry if you choose this option! We had asked the staff to organise a couple of trips for us rather than book them ourselves as we would normally do …a full day’s Medina tour and a trip into the Atlas Mountains (go on a Saturday if you want to see a Berber market in full swing), and at our request they also booked dinner for us at Al Fassia restaurant and lunch at Kasbah Tamadot. It was all seamless, relaxed and both our guide for the tour and our driver to the mountains were lovely men (and both called Ali😀) Breakfast at Riad Kniza is included. There isn’t a menu but each morning you are served bread, egg, yoghurt, bran flakes and a selection of pastries/crepes along with various jams and honey. The coffee is delicious as is the fresh orange. We chose to eat on the roof terrace but you can eat inside or in your room and they only ask for 15 minutes notice. A couple of small suggestions for Kniza (only my personal opinion) would be that they include a little folder of information in the room and a bottle of water as standard each day. On a final note, a big thank you to all the staff who helped make our stay so pleasant and relaxed. In particular, Salma on reception and the wonderful gentleman who brought us breakfast each morning (sounded like Bujama, meaning born on a Friday, though I have no idea how to spell it!) You will have a wonderful stay if you choose this lovely Riad. Enjoy 😊…
We had an amazing time at Riad Kniza. The staff were so welcoming and eager to satisfy our requests from the beginning to the end of our stay. We fell in love with the riad’s gorgeous architecture, our beautifully decorated room and its fantastic location. We loved having our breakfast served on the terrace. They even made a birthday cake for me. We’d like to thank you all again for your amazing hospitality, and can’t wait to see you again!
Tucked away in a small alley like many Riads, my mouth just dropped open when we were escorted inside and asked to sit in one of a few sitting rooms on the ground floor. I felt like I was in a sheik's inner courtyard. The artwork, artifacts, decorations alone are eye catching. The interior of the riad goes on forever with different hidden rooms, indoor pool, spa, and several different sets of stairs. The roof deck has several tented areas for enjoying meals as well as lounge chairs for just relaxing. The staff is warm and makes you feel instantly at ease. The food is delicious, abundant and excellently prepared. We have stayed in many wonderful riads on this trip but this one tops them all!
Absolutely stunning! We’ve stayed for 2 nights and the welcoming it has been superb , absolutely recommend . Especially I’ve been surprised by the structure, so sophisticated and warm . Thanks for the magnificent experience in this fabulous riad . Absolutely recommended
