We were received by Dominique & Gilles like family, and we really felt at home. Everything was great. The room was typical of Moroccan style, clean and comfortable, with an elegant French touch. We also enjoyed the tea/pastry, fruits and breakfast (Gilles' home-made sauces are the best). Transportation arranged by Dominique from the airport and to the train station was also efficient and affordable, which was a breeze and definitely help to reduce our stresses as first-timer in Morocco. They offered us many great tips about the city, places to visit and eat so that we made the best of our short stay at Marrakech. Thank you, Dominique and Gilles, love you guys.

Very good stay! The owners Gilles and Dominique are kind and thoughtful hosts. They give directions, help order taxis, helped us arrange a guide before arriving and provide emergency cell phones to guests, and make you feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this Riad, it is very clean, quiet, and has a nice rooftop patio to enjoy. The breakfast is very nice each morning and the Riad is located in a very good central location from where we walked everywhere.

We arrived fairly late on the evening of March 13th to a warm welcome from Dominique and Gilles, the plan being to stay one night before embarking on a 5 day birdwatching tour to the Atlas Mtns and Sahara, followed by a further 5 nights at this exquisitely furnished Riad. Owing to the unfolding World crisis however, we were only able to stay for one night after the tour, with Marrakech being completely 'shut down' and the requirement to leave Morocco immediately. Even though our stay was so very short we can only echo the favourable comments of other reviewers. Riad Abaca Badra has been decorated with impeccable taste, an Aladdin's cave of beautiful Morrocan artefacts and décor. Our own room was both quiet and very comfortable and the two breakfasts and one evening meal (meatball tagine) that we had were superb, with much of the food being genuinely homemade. With the developing situation in the City, Gilles went out of his way to provide help and reassurance, even offering to contact the British Embassy on our behalf! (Fortunately not necessary as things turned out.) We would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to anyone considering a visit to Marrakech and we intend to return when practicable. This is a little oasis set in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Marrekesh. The little family hotel is a gem. Run by the hosts, Gilles and Dominique. They are a mind of information and bend over backwards to assist you in your every needs. We stayed in the "Fez" room. It was full of surprises, with gowns, slippers, shampoo, body wash and beautiful argon oil, which you would not even get in a top hotel. They have fabulous morrocan staff that cook authentic meals, and their nibbles, bisquets, jams and yogurts are all home made.We will return, the sooner the better to experience the real Marrekesh.

All of the staff at Riad abaca dabra made us feel at home the minute we stepped through the charming door.
The Riad is more than just a beautiful place to stay but is a home in Marrakesh. From thoughtful touches such as fresh fruit in the room, free clean water and mint tea whenever requested to the delicious homemade breakfast every morning. There is a fantastic chef who made us a wonderful 3 course dinner. All staff are happy to accommodate your requests such as recommendations for food or advice on navigating the city. When we arrived we were given a mobile phone in case of emergencies and when we went to the desert, Dominique kindly provided blankets and a head torch for us to borrow.

We can’t recommend this Riad and Dominique and Gillies highly enough, they truly made our holiday one to remember.

We spent 8 nights staying in the Meknes room, located on the ground floor of this lovely riad. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Gilles, who after checking us in, gave us a detailed map and explained our location and recommended places to visit, as well as what to avoid. He even lent us a phone to use, whilst we sorted out a local Sim card.
The riad was clean, the staff friendly, and is in a perfect location to explore the surrounding area on foot, with most attractions being within a 30 minute walk. You will need google maps to help you get around as the area is made up of a myriad of allies as well as main roads.
We had breakfast daily at the riad which was all home made, including the jam and yogurt! As well as different breads and fruit, Gilles was happy to make eggs of your choice too. We also dined several nights at the riad, and there was a plentiful choice of home made traditional moroccan food. I would recommend the tasting menu for your first night, which gives you a flavour of what is on offer. Prices were also reasonable at 15 euro for 2 courses and 18 euro for 3 courses. Food is eaten in the courtyard, which is conveniently situated right outside your room (if on the ground floor).
A note about accessibility. I chose this riad as I use a wheelchair but can walk a little. If you are a permanent wheelchair user and cannot stand/walk, I would not recommend you stay here, only because there is not room for a wheelchair at the side of the bed to transfer on to. Also in the bathroom you cannot fit a wheelchair under the sink, or reach the shower head and the toilet would involve a head on transfer. There are also some steps and steep ramps to navigate to access the building. However, if you can mobilise a bit and maybe have some help, then you should be OK. There is a step down, at the entrance and then 3 tight, 45 degree turns to access the courtyard. Our room then had a small step into it. Once in the room though, it was flat access into the bathroom and had a walk in shower. Before my arrival I requested a seat to use in the shower and there was one ready for me when I arrived.
Gilles is incredibly helpful and accommodating, with a great sense of humour. He even helped us fix a puncture on our first night by lending us some tools!
In summary, this is a great little riad to stay in whilst exploring Marrakech and I would highly recommend it.

From the roof top terrace to the artistic front door, this is a place to call home in Marrakech. The staff and owners were so kind and helpful. The food awesome. Rose yogurt, lamb tagine, fresh fruit, delicious jams, one could not have asked for more or better. Giles can arrange any excursions and the transport to and from airport made the first and last days easy and unstressful. The rooms are nicely appointed with anything a traveler would want. Definitely a super star accommodation.

Typical Riad in design with wonderful Moroccan architecture, down a very safe street with security, next to two amazing spa's and the palace for good reference points for taxi's and tour guides! The whole team Ghizlane, Saïda, Soumia & Gilles were all fantastic, they kept the room and premises clean with a smile, were very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was local, fresh and delightful (the homemade jams were my favourite).
The room was plentiful big, with a good amount of outlets and a handy spot with USB chargers already in place. The room was equipped with both a fan and aircon unit, in the bathroom was an array. of local soaps and shower gels but most importantly a really great shower (good pressure) and well functioning toilet.
I'll be returning to Marrakech and to the Riad Abaca Badra.

On arrival at the riad we were immediately welcomed by Gilles and shown to our room.We stayed at the Zagora room for 6 nights and absolutely loved it! The riad is simply stunning and Gilles and his staff made us feel at home, they were always there wherever we needed anything. The room was spotless, cleaned daily, had air conditioning and another two separate heaters if we needed extra heat. Comfortable bedding and extra blanket if needed was provided to us. The slippers and dressing gowns were a treat. Fruit bowl and fresh water available daily as well as free mint tea and local biscuits. We didn't use the terrace as the weather wasn't warm enough yet but I can imagine is wonderful up there in the summer. We had a meal at the riad on arrival and it was amazing. The breakfast was WOW! Loved it,such a variety of sweet and savoury bakes, fresh fruits and yoghurt, fresh local bread, eggs and jams and preserves all presented in traditional little colourful pots. We loved everything about our stay, especially Gilles with his lovely sense of humour, friendliness and he gave us lots of tips about the places we were going to visit. We highly recommend this riad, it's in a very good location and plenty of shops and restaurants around. Thank you again Gilles and we will make a picture with the tajine you gave us as a gift. Best wishes, Dessislava.

What a fantastic Riad! The host Gilles was just incredible as were the lovely staff. If you’re looking for a traditional place to stay in the heart of the Medina, this is it! The place is walking distance to the Square and main Mouassine shopping streets as well as 25mm max in any direction to numerous major tourist attractions like the Saadian Tombs, Palaces and Jardin Majorelle. Across the road you have Fanous Rooftop, Zaman Food, and the Restaurant Pizzeria (Aux Portes du Desert), for great cheap local food. The Riad is beautifully furnished in authentic style with free toiletries and all mod cons, the shower is just wonderful, powerful and hot. Lovely fluffy towels and robes and slippers provided, they really have thought of everything. The daily cleaning and bed service was excellent. We did stay on the ground floor and you will therefore hear a little bit of noise as people eat dinner/breakfast on the patio outside, but for us it added to the charm of the place and no B&B would be completely quiet. Gilles provides an excellent breakfast in the morning of fruit, yoghurt, pancakes, eggs and cakes. Free tea anytime. The rooftop terrace is a fabulous suntrap with lots of comfy beds and hats to use, it was just a shame the hot tub wasn’t filled. The birds come in through the atrium and their song adds to the ambience. I bought some red olives from the market and Gilles was kind enough to vacuum pack them for me to take home. He even let us buy one of his teapots after we were conned into buying a cheap knock off at the markets! We used the driver arranged by the riad for our airport transfers and it was quick and cheap, the driver was very pleasant. Thanks Gilles and all the team for your excellent hospitality.
