This place will get in touch with nature. The rooms are clean, ac is available if that is what you want. The wify is fast. It is a beach front, with access to boat transportation. The food was fresh and flavorful. It is a gem without a doubt. We are planning to come back soon.
My shortest review. This place is a safe, healthy, almost cheap option. I have been there once. I was recommended by a student. There is nothing I would change or remark about. The room was clean and quiet. Food a surprising delight. Beach was perfect. They were a little confused about taking Dollars (US). but we got the bill paid. Go.
Nice bar and beach area just 35 minutes walk from Livingston. Easy to take a taxi back if you don't feel like walking. The entrance of the siete altaras starts here so that could be good alternative rather than taking a tour from town. Recommend it as it is a nice walk from town to this place. Recommend to do walk and have lunch at hotel Salvador gaviota and then further to the siete altaras for the springs and waterfall.
I came here to get away from the town for an afternoon and read by the beach. Did not swim. They let you use their hammocks, dock etc if you buy food/drink. Take a taxi here and back as it is a long hot walk otherwise. I paid 20q for a taxi there and 5q back!? The walk along the beach to get here is absolutely littered with plastic, so sad to see and half the reason why I didnt want to swim. Dont expect white sand and crystal waters
You cant have high expectations for a few dollars;) I traveled with my friend we stayed in a bungalow with a shared bathroom that quickly was very dirty and not cleaned everyday. Next time I would choose a private bathroom Place is nice, owner helpful, the prices in the restaurant are a bit too high, but well. You dont really have a choice. A remote place, if You want to hide from the drunk backpackers, choose this place, very local. But beware od rats / it is a problem in Livingstone because of the amount of litter everywhere, local people just throw out plastic on the beach and spoil nature, a true horror/
Though we did not stay in this hotel and only there for a lunch, our experience with them was good! Nice meal and fast service considering it was packed when we were there. Plus, the performance from the Garifunas was a treat for us while having lunch. Our good lunch experience by the beach was memorable, we will definitely go back and book a room.
Arrived in the dark and helpful staff helped me to the room. Had a 3 persons room for myself was great! Went for dinner and walked up the private beach and discovered the tower....Imagine how it would look like when the sun comes up..so I got up at 6.00 moved the tower and saw one of the most beautiful things..It was so quiet just me, the sea and the birds waking up....well worth the trip.. Hotel was good, price great and the food nice as well. Good thing is that you have everything in the hotel so you don't need to go to Livingston if you don't want. I recommend this place to everybody who likes nature, white beach and a very relaxed atmosphere..
Just surprised this hotel is not fully booked whole year. Best place in Guatemala I visited by far!! Great room, good food, private beach and everything you wish for...Where do you need a five star resort for?
I had one of the rooms with a private bath, they are upstairs, hammock and a chair with a table on the veranda. Yes, walls und ceiling are light materials and you hear your neighbour nextdoor, but that's how the air can go through. The best is, it is just on the only little beach, there are no real beaches around. So no long beach walks, because their beach is clean, the others are not! Nevertheless it is worth while to take the walk to the Seven Altars, a series of small waterfalls, not spectacular, but the guy, who sells the entrance tickets at his small restaurant is - a real Garifuna! Better eat at the Salvador Gaviota, their food is really good, especially their Tapado, a sort of Caribbean Bouillabaisse, even better than many I have eaten in France! WiFi works and the staff is very helpful, but should keep it up, because they forgot to make my room the day I was there. There is a nice wooden tower at the end of a long bridge into the sea, where you can dwell in your hammock upstairs and enjoy the look. A good place to relax if you can do without perfection! …
I stayed at this hotel with my family (husband and 2 kids, 12 & 9) in July and am finally getting around to writing a review (because I am also finally printing a photo album of the trip). The hotel was rustic, yes, but we loved our time there. A great location, right on a clean, pretty beach. Affordable. Out of town, so quiet, but easy enough to take a taxi to town. Decent food. But the main reason I'd recommend this hotel is because of the helpful owner/staff. They went above and beyond in many ways, but the nicest thing they did for us was to have one of the workers go to Puerto Barrios (almost an hour away by boat) for us to buy ear drops for my daughter's ear infection, after we found out the pharmacies in Livingston didn't have the medication. So kind and helpful.
