Made a last minute reservation at the Santander and was informed that all they had available was a Master Suite. As expected this was quite a bit more expensive then other rooms we had previously stated in. We needed a room so we took it. The flight was delayed and the hotel driver had given up on us and returned to the hotel without us. After several phone calls we were informed that the van would pick us up within 30 minutes. We got out Suite which was a rather nice room on the top floor and let the desk know that there was no water pressure. When we opened the faucet we could hear air being sucked into the pipes. When we returned from dinner the water would flow but at low pressure. We figured the pump would increase pressure over night. WRONG.. The pressure dropped and air would suck into the pipes when we opened the faucets. There was no water in the sinks, shower or toilet. The problem was not remedied by the time we checked out. When checking out the desk clerk took notes about the problem and said he was sorry but made no offer to compensate us at all.…
Hello everyone, We were invited to a wedding nearby and decided to stay in the city instead of driving a back home. We selected Plaza Santander. Unfortunately it seems we were welcome by a “I do not want to be here” host that was cold and unfriendly. When we went to bed, although our room was on the 5th floor, we could hear the street noises and parties and could not go to bed until 12:30 am! The complimentary breakfast was good, not great but good. Unfortunately for me, as I am T2 Diabetic, there was no juices without sugar nor whole wheat bread available. The parking lot is very small and when We went for our car, we were blocked by another car and we had to wait for the guest to come down and move his car. Although it is nice hotel, I do not consider I received the service I paid for. My recommendation would be: double check before selecting this hotel.…
Great access from the hotel but some of the pictures were clearly from an upgraded room that they did. It is comfortable, security is a little lax from a few other places I stayed in the area, but I never felt concerned. The service is good, but you can definitely get better priced hotels for better quality in comparison.
The hotel provides free shuttles to/from airport. Accommodations are clean, comfortable but show a bit of worn appearance. Room was larger than expected with a microwave and coffee set-up. Staff was helpful with directions to local restaurants and spoke English quite well.
My wife and I have stayed at this hotel several times, we absolutely recommend it. We choose this hotel because it offers excellent service, the breakfast is super delicious, the people are very friendly and it’s a cozy beautiful classic style hotel. We definitely recommend it for a trip to Guatemala.
Even though the hotel is outdated and has seen better days, is also a good option if your a business traveler on a tight budget. It is safe, clean, offers good breakfast (included in the rate) and great location (zona 10). It is at walking distance from Fontabella wich offers great restaurant options. They need to fix the shower´s water pressure
Guatemala has a horrible reputation left over from years of civil war. However, our stay at the Santander introduced us to the new Guate - beautiful staff, lovely accommodations, good food and access to all the city has to offer. A quick walk to two major shopping districts, easy transport via Uber to anywhere you want to go, and amazing views of the city. Stay here when you get here!
The site showed that the rooms have an attached kitchen. Well, they have a small microwave, a kettle, 2 cups, 2 glasses and a sink, that's their version of a kitchen, if you call that a kitchen at all. The rooms are fairly large with good bedding, a huge cupboard and a place to keep your luggage. Good rooms, I would say. Their breakfast is also very nice and adequate and the staff were fantastic. They would try to help you in every possible way. The wifi is good and the charging points are conveniently placed. I would recommend this place if you don't need a kitchen.
We stayed at the Santabeer for a week, with no regrets. The prearranged airport shuttle was seamless. After checking in, we became concerned about the loud music we were heariby (mid day) and asked the front desk if it would continue into the night. Some came to our room immediately, agreed it was too loud and we were moved to another room on the opposite side of the hotel. No more noise, and a lovely view of trees in bloom! The hotel is dated and worn. The carpeting is stretched and stained. Although we found it very clean, there is wear and tear throughout. HOWEVER, the price was great, the staff was friendly and professional, and the room was quite comfortable. The included breakfast was great! There was a good array of breakfast foods buffet style, as well as choices of personal orders like omelets made to taste. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was a little tricky and required a little fine tuning, but we got it figured out. It just took a while for the water to get pumped up several floors and reach pressure. It would drop off and on during showers, yet always return. Also the internet was a little weak, but that seemed typical of the country. The hotel is located in Zone 10...the safest zone in the city, and the only area recommended for walking at night. We felt safe. Overall, we were satisfied and pleased with the value for our money.…
Fantastic price value, you can't find this anywhere else. Yes, the hotel is a bit old and dated, and maintenance could be improved, but at less than 40 bucks a piece, this place is incredibly luxurious. Location is unbeatable, they offer free breakfast, and staff are super kind. I'd definitely recommend it and would come back. Best of all: it's a local-run hotel, not a big multinational corp!
