Wow, this place is really different. I walked from the bus stop with my suitcase and actually thought the locals were joking when they told me to keep walking down this road that seemingly leads towards a forest to find the hostel.. but it turns out they weren't! This place is super nice and hidden away so it's very peaceful and quiet. The sleeping pods are super cool and there was less than four of us staying in the whole room so I had a great sleep. They have the cutest parrot outside which was my favorite part! The owners are lovely and I had great chats with them. They also paid for my taxi to the Guatemala ferry which was the nicest touch. I would recommend this place to anyone who goes to Punta Gorda, it's a great experience :)

This city has everything! (unless you are looking for "beach time") If you are going to Belize Punta Gorda is a must, it has wonderful people, fantastic food, and a great place to stay at A Piece Of Ground! Owners were great in giving us ideas on parks to go to, waterfalls, Mayan cites, lookout points, and great food at a piece of chicken!

An excellent hostile with comfortable facilities. It utilizes the pod system so you have privacy even when sharing the room with other people. Unfortunately there isn't much going on in Punta Gorda itself and most people stay at this hostel in route to crossing the border into Honduras. We had a one night sleepover in this hotel to get on the boat to Guatemala. Expectations where high after the good reviews. First impressions; very nice place. We had a private room with private bathroom. The room is very neat and the bathroom is very crisp and looks new. One of the best hot showers we had during our trip. At the second floor is a nice restaurant (decent burgers and breakfast) with a pool table. Third floor is a bar. The view from the upper floors is awesome. There is a second building with dorms but we didn't go there. Both the buildings are separated by a courtyard and small pool (empty when we visited). Unfortunately we felt disappointed when we left the place. First the location is about 15 to 20 minutes walk from town. We had to walk to the ferry with our luggage because there where no taxi's on boxing day. I did read about a shuttle service to the boat but this was not offered to us. Second we think the beds are very uncomfortable. The mattress was very thin so it felt like laying on a wooden plank. Third we didn't feel very welcome at the place. They did offer a lunch and dinner and provided information when requested but no more than necessary. Just after dinner the bar closed and we could close the light when we where done. We understand that working with Chrismas isn't the favorite day but instead just close from businesses or communicate about changed service in advance. With a small change to the beds and customer service in order i imagine this is a great place but for us it was a little bit disappointing. …

The hostel has the most beautifully constructed sleeping pods, designed and built from hardwoods by the owner, a master carpenter. The dormitory has AC with hot water in the bathroom. A fridge and cooker are available if one doesn't want to use the restaurant on the top floor. Each pod has a secure locker under the bed. WiFi is available on both floors. There's a grocery shop and bakery within a five minute walk.

I recently traveled to Belize on an educational trip with a group of nursing students. We stayed here before going to our next destination in Belize and it was the GREAT! Jama and his family are so so nice. They are inviting, helpful, and just wonderful to be around. The breakfast is the best and I’m already missing it now! They have awesome choices for dinner as well. I love the hammocks, Phoenix the bird, and the views are amazing. You will not regret staying here for whatever reason! Thank you for being so nice and welcoming to our big group!!

I recently stayed here with a group of nursing students. The people that live here are extremely hospitable. They made us breakfast each morning of our stay which was very good. The dinner we had one evening was excellent I had the jalapeño cheddar burger and was not disappointed in the slightest. This is a very unique place to stay. I would highly recommend a visit here if you are in Punta Gorda.

I recently stayed at A Little piece of ground in PG. it was fabulously laid back and I was made to feel very welcome. Here you have a choice of dorm style (with air con) or a separate room with bathroom. I opted for the separate room. I was very pleased with my room. It was spotlessly clean and calmly and simply decorated. The shower after a full day of travelling on public buses was just sublime. The room had air con and a TV. I didn’t use either as I never do. But for those that do. I’m sure it would be welcome. This hostel has a bistro/bar on the roof giving you a view across the top of the tree line to the mountains and the sea. It also did great vegetarian food for which I was very grateful. I loved the tables and chairs which swing from the roof. The hostel is decorated with an undercurrent style art! And the fixtures and fittings reflect this. I particularly loved the style that the louvres were painted with local flowers. It’s this I think which gives All in all I recommend this please in the very quiet end of the sleepy town of Punta Gorda. It’s this aspect which brings me back to PG whenever I can make it! Thank you to those at A Piece of Ground that made my two day stay very relaxing and enjoyable. …

Probably the best you can get in Punta Gorda. Prices affordable, clean rooms, nicely furnished (great wood work!). There's bar & restaurant available and hammocks on the top floor. The hostel is walking distance from the town. PG is small so you don't need to worry to get lost.

Friendly welcome from female owner. The private double room was nice and clean. All the basics (hot shower, airco) were there and if you want there are hammocks downstairs and a pool table with a restaurant upstairs.
