We stayed here for one night before heading out to Glover's Reef. They picked us up from the airport and carried our bags to the room when we checked in. The room was clean with good air conditioning. Very quiet. We were exhausted and slept well. Two drawbacks: We arrived on a Tuesday at 3:30 PM and were informed that the onsite restaurant had closed for the day. This meant we needed to find somewhere else to eat (and like I said, we were exhausted after traveling for 30 hours with no sleep). Fortunately, they had a recommendation for a great local spot and called a reputable taxi for us who took us and then came back and picked us up later. Secondly, when it was time for checkout there was no one to help us with our bags and it was quite a trek back to the lobby across a tiny bumpy pathway through the grass in the heat. Overall, it was a nice place to stay for one night and we would stay here again if needed.…
After my mom and I realized we had miscalculated the bus schedules and had a few extra hours in Dangriga, we decided to head to Pelican Beach Resort for a drink. The staff went above an beyond, offering to store our luggage while we enjoyed happy hour from their bar and enjoyed the beautiful sea views. Although they didn't have an appetizer menu, our server, Alex, whipped up chips and salsa. So much better than waiting at the bus station! When it came time to leave, our taxi was a no show, but the front desk woman (I'm sorry, I didn't get your name!) saved the day and graciously called up another to take us. Thank you Pelican Beach for an enjoyable few hours🙂
This was our second stay at Pelican Beach Resort. The only thing that changed from 2 years ago was the price. It increased a lot. We had a room in the main building. No AC, 20 watt light bulbs, unconnected smoke detector. Dark and depressing. The 2 bright spots were screens and the staff. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Having a restaurant on the premises was good, too.
Just ending a lovely 2-week holiday at the Pelican Beach Resorts in Dangriga and on Southwater Caye. Pelican Beach Resort management did an excellent job ensuring our covid-related safety throughout, keeping occupancy to no more than 50% and allowing us to keep ourselves well-spaced from other guests as well as the staff. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable with views of the sea. Food is excellent, featuring several Belizean specialties. While staying at the Pelican Beach Resort in Dangriga (10 nights in all), we had a wonderful introduction to central Belize, with plenty of outdoor activities (on approved tours) and also time to relax, all within our quarantine. We hiked to Billy Barquedier State Park waterfall, made a day trip to the Xunantunich Mayan ruins, hiked to Tiger Fern Falls in the Cockscomb Wildlife Reserve and camped overnight at the campground on the ridge, and kayaked and swam along the shore in view of the mangroves. Manatees have been seen there, but we did not see any. At Pelican Beach Resort on Southwater Caye for 4 nights, we swam in the lovely warm lagoon, snorkeled everyday along the Belize barrier reef, watched the pelicans feed at dusk as we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and relaxed on the veranda with views of the reef. The food was excellent and staff friendly and accommodating making it a lovely experience. All in all, highly recommended.…
A great place for an overnight stay after a flight into the Dangriga airport which is just down the road. Our room was large and comfortable, with a lovely ocean-facing balcony. Air conditioning was a welcome treat considering the humidity of the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food at the restaurant was very good. The Pina Colada was fresh and delicious! With the addition of a large pool, this resort will only continue to expand its appeal to the traveler. We would happily return when traveling to Belize.
