I just returned home from a long weekend stay at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel and had a wonderful experience! After being picked up from the airport in Belize City, the concierge Onil immediately helped me set up some awesome activities to fill my days, including a visit to Xunantunich, exploring the ATM cave, and a birding tour. All of the staff were extremely friendly, and my guides were top-notch and knowledgable. Be sure to check out the resort's Iguana Project too! As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe in Belize and in the town of San Ignacio. It also felt very safe in the context of COVID--everyone always wore masks and all proper precautions were taken. The resort made it very easy for me to get my test to return home. The local health department staff even came to my room to set up a "clinic" and tested me on-site. I highly encourage people to visit Belize and check out San Ignacio Resort! I was sad to leave and can't wait to come back!

Hotel's Favourite
The food was amazing. I love their famous vanilla ice cream. It is very crispy and has a different, yet delicious taste. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They made sure you were greeted at all times. The pool area has a nice view. Our dinners were spent here after a long day of work. I would definitely recommend.

My boyfriend and I visited the San Ignacio area and stayed at this hotel. It exceeded our expectations on every level. The restuarant on site was spectacular. Absolutely delicious dishes and very large portion sizes. The meal plan is the way to go. We had steak from the ranch that is owned by the owner of the hotel, lobster, pasta, huevos rancheros, and red snapper. The staff was sensational and specifically our tour coordinator/guide Onil, he was extremely helpful, friendly, and very, very knowledgeable on mayan history and beliefs, as well as plant and animal life and other relative information on Belize. We had a great time at Lamanai and on the property jungle tour with him, and appreciate all of his help during our stay. Ranon for the ATM caves was a highly experienced, knowledgable, and friendly guide. Jason was a great guide for us at Xunantunich and Cahal Pech, we had a fun day with him, he is very nice and fun to hang out with. Tattiana, Jon, and the rest of the restaurant staff were outstanding as well. We highly recommend staying here. Downtown San Ignacio is just a small walk from the hotel so seeing others parts is very easy. Service was exceptional throughout our stay, and the rooms were very clean. We can't wait for our next opportunity to visit! Thank you everyone at San Ignacio Hotel, Jolene and Cole P.S. Thank you for the amazing piná coladas on arrival! Our special request was exceeded.

What I Liked: * It's a historic hotel and they have maintained a beautiful, "grand" feeling lobby and terrace. *I had a room facing the garden which was adorable, but that being said, I don't think the room choice matters a lot, because * TOUCANS! The terrace offers an almost guaranteed spotting of multiple toucans (and other birds) in the early morning hours. *The food is good - even with few customers due to the current situation, the menu is creative and the dishes fresh and nicely-presented. The dining service staff should be commended. * Besides the Toucans, there are gardens with herbs and flowers to explore as well as both the Iguana Project and nature walk which can be arranged on request. What Could Improve: - For me, the bed was not comfortable and the bedding is honestly too bulky and heavy for a tropical climate. I had to strip most of it off to get to sleep. The A/C unit runs about average as it is just a basic wall unit. - The plumbing was bad. I had to force flush the toilet everytime. The shower cartridge was in need of replacement, so just a lot of water spraying out of the faucet and limited pressure from the shower. The room was otherwise fine, maybe a little more economic than I expected for the hotel at this price. The amenities and service help balance it out, but the room/bathroom definitely needs a refresh down the road.

We booked our stay at the last minute and requested a slightly altered Mayan Expedition tour package to accompany our stay. Our concierge, Onil was quick to respond and set up our tours, and even lead us on some of them. We did the ATM cave, Laminai, Caracol, Xunantunich, and Cahal Pech and even worked in a nighttime critters "expedition". Onil was very knowledgeable and quick to make sure our days went smoothly. The hotel was extremely nice and the food was incredible. The town was quaint and comfortable, as well. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Belize!
