When my boyfriend and I arrived at Maya Mountain Lodge in San Ignacio, we were welcomed by Levi. He was very kind and helpful and helped us fix a tour to the ATM caves (recommended!). He also showed us a 20min-trail around the lodges and fixed a taxi to the center of San Ignacio. We relaxed and swam at the pool (see picture). We really loved our quiet stay at Maya Mountain Lodges.
We stayed here 3 nights with a party of 11 and it was great! The location is great for going to Tikkal and the ATM caves. They will set you up with great tour guides and arrange for pick-up and drop off. Our tours were great. The accommodation is clean and has such an adventurous appeal. Pool was small but perfect for a dip and relaxing. The restaurant was not open but we ate nearby at some great finds and it was so easy to navigate the town.
We arrived quite early after an early morning shuttle from Isla de Flores, hot and tired. Marco quickly took care of us, letting us check in early, before noon even. The room was Great!! Two air conditioners to keep the entire space cool. The kitchen was very well stocked, all that we needed and more. We took a short walk through the grounds and enjoyed all the labelled plants. The pool was perfect for cooling off and the nearby hammocks for a little nap. All in all a great place to stay.
Loved our stay here! Rooms were clean and staff was extremely friendly. The nature trail as fantastic and we liked ending our evenings by the pool. An easy 5 minute cab ride into San Ignacio. We tried all of the restaurant recommendations and thought they were great!
Everything on the property made very nice and with attention to detail. Plus you have everything that you need (fridge, small kitchen, toiletries, Wifi, private porch). The room was also very nice and clean. Nice sourroundings, out of town (not very far, but maybe too far to walk there many times, e.g. to just get something from the shop), you are basically in the jungle and can hear and see different animals (we saw toucans for example). If you are staying in San Ignacio, I recommend staying at Maya Lodge at least two days - we were here just for one night and wished we would have been at least one more (the other 3 nights we were in town, which is also OK, but not as nice as here). Nice that you can chill in the small pool in this beautiful setting. At the time of our visit it was also superb value for money - it was the nicest property we stayed at during our trip to Belize, but was at the same time one of the cheapest. Staff was also friendly.…
My son and I stayed in the Frangipani apartment for two nights. The staff was friendly and helpful and the accommodation was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The real jewel here is the location and grounds. It is close to town, 5 min drive, but feels as if it is in a jungle. We had a very large deck with hammocks and tables and chairs which overlooked the trees. We saw parrots, hummingbirds and iguanas. There are walks through the grounds and the trees and plants have identifying labels which added interest. We enjoyed the swimming pool. We did not eat there as the restaurant was closed. This is a perfect place for those wishing to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.
This fantastic accommodation is located close to San Ignacio, a quick cab ride or walk away. I was blown away by the fresh farm-to-table meals and drinks, the layout of the lodge within a broadleaf forest, the superb concierge and wait staff, the evening entertainment and,of course, the room itself. I HIGHLY recommend this place for solo travelers or groups, as they have huts and rooms that can accommodate both. I had a booking issue with a tour for the next morning and the staff worked overtime to find me a last minute alternative! I was extremely impressed! Note: There is no bar on site and they observe "Quiet hours" between 9pm and 7am.
We spent 3 nights here as a base camp as we explored the town and area around San Ignacio. It looked nice on the travel sites and was rated as a 3 star accommodation. It's a $5USD cab ride to/from town. The grounds were nice, but we were disappointed with our standard room. Pros: There was hot water, a fan, air conditioning (which we did not try), it was clean enough, and a nice shared deck space. The staff was also helpful with calling taxis or making dinner reservations. Cons: the room was more basic than expected, the walls were so thin we could hear our neighbors' normal conversations, and the room was slightly run down. Signs for quiet hours were posted, but no one was enforcing them as party-ers came back in the middle of the night and were very loud on several occasions. It was more of a "hostel" atmosphere, although the cabanas may have been nicer. We were on our honeymoon and wanted/expected something different based on reviews, descriptions, and pictures of the lodge. Our biggest complaint comes from the restaurant. The lodge advertises accommodating special dietary needs, which is very important to us. We ate there our first night. Prior to our arrival they asked us about our special needs, and we emailed them a list. We also discussed our needs upon our arrival and with the server (as we were instructed) when we ordered our meal. Despite our efforts, it seemed like little to no regard was paid to the needs that we had clearly communicated. Our plates contained items that we communicated we could not have. The snapper was just OK and my steak was under cooked. The meals were expensive for what you get. My wife was frustrated and left the restaurant as I waited at least 35 minutes to get the bill and run my card. The service was poor and we did not eat there again. If you have serious food sensitivities or allergies I would not trust this place to accommodate your needs. We booked our tours elsewhere. There are lots of choices for places to stay in the San Ignacio area. If we were to return we would look elsewhere.…
This lodge is phenomenal. The owners and staff are exceptional. The food was so fresh and flavorful. The accommodations were very comfortable and the grounds are breathtaking. I will be back soon and often! Thanks to all of you for the wonderful stay!!!
Stayed at this lodge on our visit to San Ignacio. The lodge is located in the mountains surrounded by a lot of vegetation grown and maintained by the owners. The food is fresh and vegetables mainly grown in their garden. They have a lot of veggie and vegan options. If you are looking for 5 star comforts then this place is not for you really blends in with nature. There is lot of information regarding the vegetation grown there.
