Front desk clerk was efficient, staff were polite, room was very clean. Nice sheets, thick towels, bottled water. Pickup from the airport was fast, driver polite, and the van was brand new and clean. Restaurant food was fresh, service is somewhat slow paced (for Americans; we're always in a hurry). Free breakfast is fruit, toast and cereal; you can order from a menu as well.
This is a beautiful hotel with awesome service from the front desk staff, Orlando, Maria, to the restaurant staff, Chris took amazing care of us. This was our 3rd stay here and they have been consistent. A must stay! Great store on site!
4/6 When we arrived at the front desk to check out, Orlando was on the phone talking to the house-keeper who was already in our room cleaning it. Orlando explained house-keeping noticed a red stain on the pillow case (Hair dye) Orlando ended the call and told me not to worry about it Upon arriving at San Pedro I immediately realized I had left my towel at GB. My room-mate confirmed she noticed it was hanging in the closet when she left. I forgot to grab it 4/9 back at GB I was Greeted by Samantha and immediately informed her about my towel. She stated she would look into it- I never heard back from her I asked again the next morning and she brushed me off stating I had "NO PROOF" I left it there "How do you know you left it here?" she asked. She seemed less interested when I asked her to check with Orlando and ask him who was the housekeeper that entered our room before we had even checked out. This towel was expensive and sentimental. This review is not about the "towel" but the way the situation was handled. Unprofessionally! MR HE your guests should not be told "We have cameras, no one could have taken anything from the room" Seriously? Are all trash bags checked? I will not stay in this hotel again or recommend them to any of my travel clients. No apology, only rude and accusatory statements by Samatha "You're the one that left it there" Wow!Toto our driver was amazing Orlando was great assisting with reservations Dane at the Vino Tinto offered top notch customer service…
Great hotel overlooking the water, close to the water taxi to /from the islands and the municipal airports for Mayan and Tropic Air flights from their airstrip. Booked through Expedia and got a welcome drink and 20% discount at their excellent rooftop restaurant…fantastic drinks and food and “Dane” the waiter was so nice and helpful with all our questions. It’s a great hotel if you need to spend a night in Belize City coming or going …. Very Happy we chose it,
I highly recommend this boutique hotel before or after taking a ferry to the cayes. I know with many flight times, you will need to stay the night in town. The rooms are very clean and spacious. I love that there is a great rooftop restaurant with a nice view and amazing food and cocktails. Breakfast is included too. There is also a big store next door with the best souvenir prices in town. This is the best place to stay in Belize City!
Fabulous hotel. We thought it was brand new, but has been open 3 yrs. Great place to stay on arrival day, or night before departure if you arrive late in day/depart early morning, and don’t want to fly or take water taxi to islands in the dark, and miss the scenery. Short walk to water taxi & several restaurants/bars. Staff was superb. They even arranged transportation from the airport. Free breakfast was amazing as well.
The hotel is new and is very clean and modern inside. The rooms are large and spacious, but ours needed some furniture....we had a bed and a built in wardrobe...that's it! The room was massive, but looked empty. The room isn't serviced unless you leave the 'service my room' card on the door when you go out. Problem is they didn't have a card on our door! The shower is very tricky, we had to get someone up to show us how it worked. The continental breakfast included in the room rate is a waste of time. The hot buffet food is always cold and on one day it was all gone by 9am! We've stayed in many hotels in Belize City (Fort George, Princess Ramada, Biltmore Plaza) and Golden Bay is definitely the cleanest and most modern. Not sure why they charge in US$ however? Belize isn't in the US and not all tourists are from the USA!…
We enjoyed our stay at the Golden Belize. Harold, the manager, was exceptional. He was very helpful and made us feel right at home. The rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the rooftop restaurant overlooking the bay and were quite surprised to find a department store connected to the hotel that had many souvenirs, groceries, household items, and much more! We would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Belize City.
Golden Bay Hotel is an Oasis Belize City isn’t a classic “walking around” tourist destination where you can go anywhere and find something to do. If you stay in the city, Golden Bay Hotel is a phenomenal choice for a base of operations. The rooms are clean and modern, and everything in the property is well-maintained. Beautiful paintings adorn the hallways. You could spend your entire trip in your room flipping through the TV stations: there are over 100 available, and Netflix is included. Of course, this is not why you came to Belize, but it’s a nice way to unwind after a day of adventure. A very impressive continental breakfast is provided free of charge as part of your stay. Breakfast runs from 7 AM to 10 AM. We showed up shortly before 10 AM one day, not expecting to be seated, but we were anyway. Very cool. Besides breakfast, the restaurant has excellent selections. The prices are reasonable for what you get. Where are you at self is an interesting blend of regional foods and Asian foods. There is a large store connected to the hotel that sells everything from souvenirs to groceries to electronics to furniture. The grocery items are mainly the kind you would find at an Asian market, such as candied ginger and huge bags of corn starch. Snack items are almost all imported Asian grocery items, but there are a few western items, such as Pringles. There is also a decent selection of wine and soft drinks. The service here is also top-notch everywhere you go. If you need something, you can quickly find someone who will help you. As I mentioned at the beginning, this is not a location where you can walk outside the door of the hotel and easily find things to do. Along the waterfront, there are restaurants if you don’t mind walking. The inland area surrounding the hotel is largely residential. But, the hotel clerk will be happy to call a taxi for you. Taxi drivers are all knowledgeable regarding places to go in the city. And, above all, everyone is friendly: this seems genuine, and not at all as if they’re putting on an act to get a tip. This is a terrific base of operations when you come to visit Belize City.…
I have been visiting Belize for business during the past 8 years and so far I haven’t stayed at a hotel this new and clean, nice with a decent restaurant with a rooftop view and a bar, other options in the area are either too expensive for what you get or not too clean or new like this one. Definitely exceeded my expectations , nice staff willing to help you and make you feel comfortable. The quality of the food was good, had continental breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel, is a good option for a couple of days as a strategic stop before you head to the keys or if you’re around for business.
