Best resort the this type fishing. Was able to rent golf cart on site and was able to head north to find a secluded spot to fish. First day drove to the end of the trai took about 2 hours. Found several awesome spots to wade into the water. First day caught three bone fish next

We stayed at the Sapphire Beach Resort in December 2018 for our 25th Anniversary. It is absolutely a beautiful resort. Everyone we encountered was friendly and accommodating. It starts with Geo at the front desk. He knew our itinerary better than I did! I would recommend having h

I have tried to break things out in the review below. The only things that approach 'negatives' about this resort are just fully honest disclosure items about things - not intended to be anything other than know that you are picking 'this' when you stay here.

Can you please let me know what is current situation with the sargassum debris on the beach and around the island. Thanks!
It’s pretty bad, and smells of sulfur at night. The best place to go that doesn’t have it is Sapphire Beach. Your gonna need a golf cart to get there but it is definitely worth it. Hope this helped- Andrew

I understand the resort in located approx 9 miles from town. My question is this: what options lie between the resort and San Pedro for drinks, dinner, etc? We’d like to experience different beach bars and restaurants and I’m thinking surely there are hotels / properties etc closer than San Pedro. Is there anything down the beach within walking / biking distance? We plan on eating at the resort some, but will be there for a week and prob won’t want to eat there every single day.
Secret Beach is before San Pedro another must stop. They have a small restaurant/bar .. and of course the Truckstop has options on food. Love that Island !!

Heading out in 2 weeks and would like to get an idea of things to do. Looking to do the cave tubing, some diving, horse back / ruins. A little tourist stuff in San Pedro too. Just looking to plan some day trips and a little adventure.
Cave tubing and ruins are a great combo. Can be done in a day by most companies. If you are going to San Pedro, guided snorkeling at Hol Chan is worth it. No Worries Yours was fantastic on and off the island.

We don't intend to hire a car, so how far are the nearest shops and restaurants?
The island is beautiful up north but it is 9 miles from San Pedro which is the only town on the island. But north has the betrer beaches and the resort works very hard keeping them clean because certain times of the year a lot of seagrassum wash in. But staff are out early and cleaning it all up. It all depends what kind of vactioneer you are, if you want to relax and enjoy life eat and drink, do some great tours, snorkel, kayak, paddle board and enjoy the outdoors it is great. If you want to go to different bars and restaurants at night it may be a bit far for you. The water taxi runs early and reasonably late and yes the roads are bumpy but so much fun to explore the island in a golf cart. Belize in general is not like Cancun or Costa Rica it is less developed but makes it less spoilt. That is a bonus it my book. I think some people are expecting something else but you need to read about it and know your own comfort limits.

Can you snorkel right off the beach?
You can snorkel off the beach and see some great fish. But it is shallow and along the coast there is seagrass that is the fishes habitat. The re sort have free of use snorkel gears, as well as kayaks, paddle boards, bikes and fishing gears. The onsite tour shop do some amazing snorkle tours, you cannot miss snarky ray alley.
