I've stayed in too many DC and DC-area hotels to count. After a while the experience doesn't vary. Only the neighborhood changes. This time was different though. I chose the Washington Plaza because it was within walking distance to my client's offices and it had a great

I came to this hotel because I was originally scheduled to stay at the Marriott but they were oversold and relocated me here which was a bit stressful since I arrived late. With that said, this hotel is older. However, the owners appear to have made efforts to update it. What

Great location. Clean nice rooms. Staff was wonderful. Came into town for about 24 hrs for an NBA game. Front desk helped us navigate how to sightsee and guide us on some good places to eat along the way. Very personable. Reasonable price considering the location. We did

Bob, As others have noted, the hotel itself can best help on this specific. But to help you with general background - in the DC area anyone with an outdoor pool will have opening and closing dates. Most buildings, swim clubs and even private homes with outdoor pools will close their pools this weekend - Labor Day weekend. Also, the DC area is hot at the moment and does't start to cool down until later in September or into October. That could be why the hotel is keeping its pool open longer than most in this region.

It depends on your child. My son is now 12, and he had more resistance to walking around this year than when he was 8. If your child likes to walk, I'd recommend walking to the Mall. You will be nearest the art museum. There are so many museums and things to see I would make a day or two of it. All three times we've been, my son has enjoyed playing with a new toy on the mall, generally a frisbee or a rubber band launched toy from a museum. The large grassy areas provide a great outlet for their energy even though some of the museums have hands on exhibits or are just great for kids, I never know what he will find fascinating - always Air & Space, often the Natural History Museum. One year it was the Star-Spangled Banner that really got to him along with a ship in a different floor. The Spy Museum was great at 8 or 9 but the second visit a few years later, he liked it less.
