My friends and I were treated very badly during our stay on August 14-15th. Around 1am on the 15th, a couple of my friends including me decided to go back to the hotel room while a few others went to the store while it was pouring down rain. When we got back to the hotel, we forgot to get the room key from our friend. So we waited until someone came out and we went upstairs to our room, and sat outside for a few minutes waiting for our friends. One of your workers, (I do not know his name, but he was African American, and had dreads styled in an updo) approached us very rudely saying we have to leave the hotel. We asked why, and he stated for loitering and using an outlet. We explained to him that our friends with the keycard went to the store and were on their way back now. He told us he wanted us out the hotel still. As he walked us down, our friends with the key were walking upstairs. So we all grouped up. The one with the key told him that we have a room, and everyone is fine. The worker still was telling us he wants us out, even though we told him our room number and the name booked under the room. He then stated only 6 people can be in a room, and we had 8. We stated that not everyone was staying the night, and that they just want to get their bags and leave. The worker stated that he is going to check the room. 5 minutes later, he knocks on the door checking, and holds the room door open till they leave. Which is a complete evasion of privacy. The people who weren't staying the night got their belongings and left the room. 5 minutes later, our friends come back to the room and told us that the worker told them to go back to the room because they are minors and he cannot kick minors out. This whole situation was very upsetting because we were being treated poorly. Also, if by the rules if the hotel cannot kick minors out, maybe the first thing the worker should have asked was our age. I am not planning to come back, and I hope you do something about that worker.

Dear anonymoussssssssss4, The safety, comfort, and wellbeing of our guests and colleagues are always a top priority at Cambria Hotel Washington D.C. Convention Center. I hope you can appreciate that security awareness is heightened during these challenging times and other guests may not be comfortable with people hanging out in the hallways after 1:00 AM. I assure you that your review will be addressed with the entire staff to make sure that, while we are upholding hotel policies, we are interacting with kindness and empathy. Thank you for your business and for sharing your feedback. Sincerely, Aaron Caple General Manager

We stayed with a friend of ours for Otakon 2021, and we were extremely disappointed and even enraged at times by not only the room but by some of the staff. Upon check in, our friend, who was the room host, was treated like a second class citizen, being talked down to like she was a child and lying to her face about things that had been promised. That was not a good sign, but we would have been forgiving if everything else had been ok. It was not. Not by a long shot. The room was dirty, we found someone else's comb in the room, and the smell of stale leaves and smoke was so strong that it actually followed us home in our clean clothes, and we only stayed three nights. The bathroom faucet was so loose that I was scared to touch it for fear of it coming all the way off and flooding us. It wasn't even remotely secured to the counter, and the cold water came out at a trickle. The body wash was completely empty and the toilet seat was cracked visibly. Another severe problem was with the climate control. There was a visible wall thermostat, like there usually is in hotel rooms, but it was disconnected and slightly damaged to boot. I tried calling down to the front desk to inquire about that, and was told to manually adjust the radiator-style unit in the room, which due to the layout was only good enough to remotely cool half the room. This would have been ok, except that the temperature gauge on the cooling unit kept changing randomly, sometimes minutes after it was set on a temp. One time, I set it on 68, cool, and running, which is reasonable in the summer months, and after using the unsafe bathroom I went to go check on it and it had randomly reset to 74 and warming, with no one else in the room. Either it is remotely controlled, there is some seriously faulty wiring, or there is a poltergeist. We were told by the front desk that things like this just happen. We tried asking for a box fan to help, which numerous hotels have, but they were "out". Yet another problem was with the bait and switch nature of the hotel itself. Our room host was promised access to the pool, fire pits, and breakfast when she made the reservation, and was reassured when it was confirmed later, but found out that none of these things were open or offered, and there was no communication to any of the guests. We talked with other guests and they all reported problems similar to ours. Also, they talked it up as if it was just a few steps to the Convention Center, when in fact the entrance was 5 blocks away, which considering our room host had mobility issues was a massive error in judgment. I have gone to many conventions, traveled across the country, traveled internationally, and stayed in many, many hotels, and I can honestly say that in my 30 plus years of traveling, this is easily the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I've stayed in hostels. I've stayed in questionable AirBnBs. I've stayed in side of the road motels. I would gladly stay in any of those again, or even throw up a tent and camp out if the only option was a stay at the Cambria Suites DC. I would not stay here again even if I was paid to do so.

We had a pretty good trip. The rooms seemed a bit neglected. It is easy to say that it is because of COVID and fewer people staying but there were lightbulbs out in our room and that takes away from the experience. As others have mentioned, suites are really just rooms with a partition. It was also a bit of a hike. Nothing was BAD, it was just kind of 'eh' all around.

The gents at the front desk were very polite and accommodating. A little more info about self parking would have been helpful. Their directions on the parking were way off, but certainly not intentional. Nice fellows. The room was ok. Not as nice as the other Ascend hotels I have stayed in. I think it may be the pandemic. However the price was excellent and the location was awesome. After my meeting, DD#2 and I had a wonderful time hitting the Van Gogh exhibit at the National Museum of Art. It takes 2 days to see it all. Nice restaurants around the hotel and a decent grocery store was nearby as well.
