Me & my fiancee stayed at the Hotel Washington in DC for her big birthday surprise. And what a big surprise it was! I cannot begin to express what an incredibly extraordinary experience we had thanks to the wonderful, one of a kind, amazing, above & beyond, memorable staff we had. I mean literally from the moment we stepped in through the door we felt warmth & geniuene kindness. The hotel itself was mind-blowingly beautiful. All the great details of architect & decor. But in order for a hotel to truly be successful, enjoyed, & remembered - the hotel's staff is definitely the heart of the experience. And with that being said, these special members of the staff - whom I am so happy & honored to have met & to be able to give a special thanks to each & every person that was exceptionally unique, above & beyond, & truly made the greatest difference in my fiancee's birthday & our stay at the Hotel Washington so perfectly perfect. - Alec : Was my very first moment with the Hotel Washington via phone. The first friendly voice I heard over the phone when setting up & asking different questions about the hotel & our room. I expressed what I was trying to create. And he helped me make the room perfect & very romantic like I was aiming for, for my fiancee's birthday. When she walked into the room it was priceless(!). His brilliant personality & great help was an excellent start to auspicious time. Thank you again Alec! - Lashawndra : She worked the front desk & helped me check in & descretely let me know when room was ready to go check into (so my fiancee didn't know what I was up to) & made sure that my chocolate covered strawberries & champagne was all set up before we first went to our room. She let us know different things there was to do in the meantime nearby & in the Hotel. She was very personable, kind, helpful, motivated, professional, insightful, informative & completely committed to her customer's & job. Thank you again Lashawndra! - Brandole : Was the first person we met when we arrived & set this extraordinary happy upbeat tone for the whole stay (from check in - to - check out). We had so many great conversations together all throughout our stay. He is very smart, talented, insightful, & has a golden great attitude (which is rare to come by!). He is an incredibly hard worker. Extremely personable, kind, reliable, courteous, committed, consistent, humble, passionate & an absolutely great person that you could tell truly loves his job & enjoys making other's happy in the most geniuene way. Thank you again Brandole! - Youssef : He served us our first drinks at the bar when we were waiting for our room to get ready. Had great conversation about the hotel & it's history & different celebrities that had came to the Hotel Washington throughout time. He had extremely great energy, incredibly personable, entertaining, throughness, knowledgement, listening skills, & wonderful professionalism. Thank you again Youssef! - Phil from security : He helped save the day & made our stay so incredibly special by allowing us to get up to the rooftop when we were stuck on the elevator for a long time due to it being our first time at the hotel & not knowing how it worked completely. One of the main reasons we booked at the Hotel Washington was for the rooftop bar & view of the city. And he not only made sure to go through the proper channels to get us up there but also went above & beyond to help us enjoy ourselves & offered to take pictures of me & my fiancee together with the gorgeous back drop of the Washington monument & city view behind us. He is incredibly real, humble, kind, curteous, professional, dedicated, creative, confident, honest, unique, highly motivated, sincere, optimistic, dependable, action oriented & unimaginably passionate about his job. Thank you again Phil! - Brad Joseph from security : He had also helped us make sure that me & my fiancee got to see the amazing rooftop bar & view. He made sure we were taken care of completely. We couldn't have been happier by how geniuenely kind & humble he was that night. We truly couldn't have asked for more. He has great communication skills, flexibility, loyalty, positive attitude, conflict resolution, helpfulness, drive, & extreme impact (in the greatest way!). Thank you again Brad Joseph! A special thanks again & again to you all for helping make the greatest difference in our special time for her special day. Thanks to you all she (we) had a tremendously unforgettable beautiful birthday this year! And all we ask in return from the higher management who are reading this is - is to please make sure that you take care of each & every person in the highest regards possible. They all truly deserve it more than words could ever express. Oh & I believe there were some name's that were not included because I was writing them down throughout our stay (so I have to find the few other name's). So lookout for the rest of the people I unfortunately didn't get to mention in this review. Thank you for your time! And THANK YOU ALEC, LASHAWNDRA, BRANDOLE, YOUSSEF, PHIL (from security), BRAD JOSEPH (from security) & the few other's (you know who you are! I will do my very best to try to get your special thanks as well for all you did & all your help & kindness (!!). :) Sincerely, Marjan Rafik & Katie Bethel

A friend and I stayed here recently over the weekend, hoping to enjoy a prime downtown area of DC next to so many sights. And while we both felt we were right in the heart of everything, very easy to walk to all restaurants and attractions we wanted to see, the stay at Hotel Washington was very overwhelming let down as the priciest point of our stay. We had made a reservation for the King Deluxe room and were immediately disappointed. I went back to confirm this was the room we reserved to which they assured me it was a King Deluxe and my heart sank. It was in no way what was imaged while we were reserving, and were subject to hardly any space as per the bedroom (the bed itself occupying the room and not much else), a tiny shower and toilet, the area outside the entry door which also included the other half/sink of the bathroom. It's really sad regarding the misrepresentations for the room, especially when what you originally picture is what you think you're paying an exorbitant amount for. I would overall pass on this hotel and look for the many other options where hopefully you're paying for what's advertised when you imagine deluxe. I will say the only redeeming quality I found was the incredible front desk attendant I spoke with, Mary. She was genuine, helpful and honestly just refreshingly nice after speaking about what I had hoped for in the room and the long drive to stay there, she really put my anxiety at ease regarding parking there and I hope she is being valued at this establishment.

Everything exceeded our expectations for our entire stay. Tamika took care of our rooms and they were cleaner each day. Plus, the staff was awesome and location is great. I highly recommend considering this hotel as it is so well located. Not to mention the rooms are quiet.

I stayed at the W Washington, D.C. for my birthday in July 2021, only a month or so before the hotel dropped the W branding. I am extremely loyal to certain hotel brands that I have fallen in love with. W Hotels always exceeds my expectations. W’s vibe, style, and culture energize my stays with trendy and edgy experiences. W Washington, D.C. was no different. I was upgraded to a Fantastic Suite from a standard room and offered a free bottle of Champagne at check-in. The room was modern and playful but still tasteful. The bathroom especially wowed me with gorgeous finishes. We also had a direct view of the Washington Monument. That evening we got drinks at POV Rooftop. The drinks were absolutely delicious and creative. The bartenders were extremely professional and friendly. I left the W Washington, D.C. with a huge smile on my face vowing to return often, as it became one of my favorite W Hotels. Sadly, the owners of the building decided to break their franchise agreement with Marriott and drop the W brand. Not only has this hotel now lost all the sexiness that comes with the W brand, but it also doesn’t earn you Marriott points and benefits anymore. I will not be returning to stay at this hotel because of this. I would have given this hotel 5 stars had they not made the poor decision to leave the W portfolio. I am begging Marriott to please find a location for a new W Hotel in Washington, D.C., as the nation’s capital is left with zero of them at this point. That’s unacceptable. If cities like Nashville and Austin deserve to have a W, certainly Washington, D.C. does as well.

Attended a wedding in July, booked a king bed suite for the weekend. We were put the tiniest room with a regular bed. When we asked the front desk about it, they said you were with the wedding block of rooms and it is first come first served???? Our options for the wedding block of rooms was king bed or TWO doubles. There was no option for ONE double. And they wouldn't give me my Marriot points credit because I booked with the wedding party???? They also would not adjust the room price, they said all rooms were the same price??? Since when?? I purposely called the hotel to make the reservation and to talked to a HUMAN so there wouldn't be any mistake. I've also filed a dispute/complaint with the main Marriot website and they do not respond, just close my complaint. Refiled and again have heard NOTHING!!! Needless to say, I will never be booking with Marriot again.
