Traded points with RCI to stay at the Yotel during the 4th of July Weekend, arrived on the 1st and checked out on the 5th. The Yotel formerly the Liason was a 6 minute walk to the Captial building with that the Mall and Union Station( 3 block walk are nearby. This was a perfect spot to stay for the holiday.

The hotel was very clean and it had the theme of a spaceship( Mission Control was the Front Desk). Our room was everything we needed for the stay except there is no bureau to store clothes so you must live out of your suitcase. The only issue during our stay was the phones to the front desk were out then entire time so if we needed something we had to go down to the front desk to request it. Our baggage was handled with care and the valet's gave us great ideas on dining options. We were smart and brought our own water, soda, and snacks which saved us money. There is a nice breakfast spot that looks like a Panera Bread right around the corner. Breakfasts there were great and affordable. The meals in the hotel were typical D.C. on the expensive side. Parking was right under the Yotel and it was $50 a day with elevator access.

Overall I enjoyed our stay at the Yotel and I would not hesitate to stay there or at another location when travelling. The D.C. Yotel is an ideal location for a couple or family travelling to see the sights.

We came in early due to our flight and asked what time we could check in. I was told my room was ready but there was a $60 charge to get in my room that is empty and ready before 4 pm! I heard the pool closes at 5 pm but I never checked. OK so the desk clerk said we needed to check in on the computer at mission control first. We did all of the info they asked just so the computer to say its not responding! Ok now the clerk could check us in but we still had to wait till 4pm. At least they allowed us to hold our bags while we went to the sites and killed time. Inside the room was a king bed which I expected but it felt like a Queen. The computerized key pad was cool but difficult to use the first day (no instructions). No way to turn the bathroom light on at night without lighting the entire room, so we didn't use light if one of us got up late to pee. The bathrooms are very tight lucky I am only 5'7". The room was nice and clean and it was ok for us. One thing that needs "Immediate Attention " is that the light of the smoke alarm needs to be covered. It blinks all night and reflects off the long mirror right into our faces! I only stayed one night so we tried not to face that way. At check out we were told by the staff we had to use the computer at mission control. Again it was out of order !!! Why not just take my key check if any incidentals were charged and say good bye? Overall not a bad place very clean and modern but certainly not a 4 star.

Thanks for your review, aclaud21. We are happy to hear you found our hotel both clean and modern. We do understand how our early check in fee can be a bit confusing. This is because we must wait for guests to check out (11am - or later if a guest has requested late check out), and check in is not until 4pm, so in order to accommodate early check ins we must have our Cabin Crew rush a room for you, which requires extra labor. We have since adjusted our early check in fee. We take this kind of feedback seriously and are working on placing more signage in our rooms to prevent any confusion for our guests. We are happy to say we have also covered the lights on our smoke alarms so that our guests can get the best night's sleep. Last but not least, we apologize for the issues you encountered using our Mission Control Kiosks. We will alert the appropriate department to ensure no further issues are encountered by future guests. Natalia Alexander Director of Operations

Overall, enjoyed our stay. Our room had a weird bathroom set up. When you walk into the room, the toilet was immediately to your right in it's own room and then the shower was next to it in it's own room. The sink was across from them on your left. The shower/toilet walls/door were made of frosted glass. Therefore, there was minimal privacy when going to the bathroom, as you can see the person and hear everything. Our shower also opened up into the room and our floor would get wet easily. This was our room personally. My parents stayed on another floor, and their bathroom layout was different, so this weird layout isn't in every room.

Aside from the bathroom, it was a comfortable stay. Bed was comfy, location and price were great. We rented bikes from Capital Bike rack in front of the hotel next door to get to the National Mall (it is also walking distance). We didn't use the gym or pool, but gym equipment was nice.

Multiple staff members told us different times for pool closures and if we were allowed to bring food up to the rooftop deck. So make sure to ask to confirm when pool closes (we were told 8pm, 9pm and 10pm by 3 different people). We also brought snacks and waters to the roof (because one staff member told us it was ok), but then the bartenders told us we weren't allowed to eat up there and had to pour our waters into a plastic cup they provided.

Good day M M, Thank you for choosing to stay at YOTEL Washington DC. We appreciate your business and value your feedback as we continuously strive to improve everyday for our guests. Based on your feedback it sounds like you stayed in one of our standard Premium Rooms whereas your parents were likely in one of our First Class rooms. Our Premium rooms are our most economical, and therefore smallest room types, but our First Class room types offer some larger spaces and more traditional guest room layouts that you might be familiar with. Thank you for sharing the misinformation you received about the pool hours. Clearly, we have some work to do on some training initiatives. Please note that since we serve food and beverage on the rooftop by the pool that we do not allow outside food or drink by the pool area. We hope you will give us another opportunity to earn your business in the future. In service, Matt Sommers, General Manager

My wife and I are in our 50’s and are well traveled. This property stands out as one of our favorite experiences. It is memorable because it is not a typical room or property. From the adjustable bed to the push button shower mechanism, the design was refreshing and unique.
As we always expect, the staff was professional and courteous.
We enjoyed a dip in the roof top pool at sunset and sat by the remote controlled fire rings afterwards. What a surprise to find such a cool rooftop setting so close to the Capitol!
We were impressed with the quality of the restaurant food and service we enjoyed outside on the front patio area the next morning.
Clearly the location is ideal for sightseeing and the proximity to the Amtrak station is very convenient. We walked to the Capitol and the length of the mall and returned by electric scooter which we dropped off right in front of the hotel.
We’re so glad we ventured out and gave this place our business.

If you want minimal amenities then this place is fine. I came down to DC for work and it was inconvenient because the wifi stopped working every now and then. There’s no mini fridge or room service so you have to leave the hotel to get food unless you want to eat at their restaurant. The restaurant however closes at 3 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Early in the morning they do their cleaning rounds and I was often woken up by the doors slamming every two minutes. If your looking solely for a place to sleep then yotel is fine if your looking for a comfortable homey place then look elsewhere.

I'm sure that I am like many others who are nervous about traveling to other places and not knowing whether or not the pictures and area will be as listed on the website. HOWEVER, my wife and I traveled to DC for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and
decided to book this hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and assisted immediately which was definitely a great start. Also the check in process was smoothe and fast. During the check in process we noticed that the lobby area was very clean and presentable as well. Once we entered the room we were blown away by the space as well as the other amenities such as the television with colorful lights surrounding it along with the very soft adjustable bed. The bathroom area was very clean and spacious (Although it took us a second to understand how to operate the hot water function on the shower *press the button on the bottom then rotate the knob*). We were very pleased with the AC temperature and room view facing the front of the building. We requested additional towels during our stay and was immediately taken care of by the staff. Due to the cost of transportation we decided not to drive to DC. Therefore, we had to walk
to most of if not all of the places that we visited which wasn't bad because we had planned on walking anyhow. The distance to just about everything was only like 15 min or so from the hotel depending on the route you take so that was a huge benefit of booking this hotel. There are scooters and bikes located throughout DC to help you get around , but we were skeptical on how they would charge our card so we decided not to utilize those options. However, we also noticed that several other people were using that resource due to the scooters being conveniently parked outside the hotel so feel free to take a chance on it if you want . When visiting DC we will definitely be staying here again! Thank you for making our first trip to DC and our anniversary awesome!! I highly recommend staying here!!!

What a great hotel! Location is perfect, accommodating options for check in/out, the smoothest self parking garage ever! We stayed for my husbands birthday. Our staycation was perfect. The cabins (rooms) are cool, hip and fun. The rooftop pool was relaxing. The staff prepared fresh cups of ice water, placed on a tray and walked around to each person asking if they would like water. It’s the little things that bring me joy.

Very disappointed. The staff was incredibly rude. The room was TINY! bathroom set up was absurd. Zero privacy at all. The front desk said the pool cabanas were first come first serve and we arrived to be told we had to spend $600 to use cabana. You couldn’t enter the pool area with a cup of water and had to have your bags searched. It was the most ridiculous hotel stay I have ever had.

I reserved this room through Priceline and prepaid it. When we went to check in, we had to park in the garage under the hotel. I asked how much parking was. It was 50.00! Just for one night! We were told it was a 3rd party and they had no control over the rate. He then told me there was a 28.00 hotel fee, and then 75.00 for incidentals which you would receive back in 3 to 5 business days. The total of all these charges was more than the room itself. When the clerk saw that I was in tears from sticker shock, he waived the 28.00. So we get up to the room, and it looks to be something like The Jetsons meet 2035. There were no light switches, only a light control device for lights, mirror, relax, night, mix. There was no actual bathroom, only a glass door to the toilet (which maintenance had to come up and snake). A glass door to the shower. It was the strangest hotel we had ever stayed in. We will never stay at a Yotel property again. I felt we were swindled.

Thanks for your honest review, Kris E! We are sorry to hear you did not feel that there was enough value in your stay with us. While all of the fees/pricing/holds you mention are listed on Priceline.com multiple times during the booking process, we can understand how this could cause some confusion. We are happy to hear that our Mission Control team was able to assist. Please note, the incidental hold functions as a security deposit, which is fully refundable if there is no damage to the room. This is not a charge. We also understand that overnight parking prices in Washington, DC can come as a surprise to some travelers. Fortunately, there is usually ample street parking around the hotel and all over the city, and we hope that this option was explained to you at check in. While our Cabins are cozy but efficient, we can see how the design may not be for everyone, such as guests not familiar with the YOTEL brand, or those seeking a more traditional hotel experience. While it sounds like our hotel was unfortunately not able to suit your needs, there are many other great hotels in our Nation's Capital should you decide to return again. I found out after I booked this hotel that there was a $25 resort fee from other customers. When I checked in I was told the resort fee was built into my rate. When I checked out I asked to confirm this was the case. I got the run around. I showed my receipt. The front desk person explained that this fee would be in addition to my rate. I showed him the receipt and told him I thought this was underhanded. He refused to work with me. Know that if you stay here you will be charged an additional $25 on top of what is quoted. This isn't Vegas. A resort fee shouldn't be expected or so poorly explained.

Good news: The Metro's Silver Line now goes to Dulles. You can change at the Metro Center stop for the Red Line to Union Station. It's about an 8-minute walk to the hotel from there. The Metro has escalators and elevators. Enjoy your visit to Washington!

Great question! We actually brought our Apple TV on the plane as we bring it to most domestic travel spots. And NO, there is no HDMI to plug into the back of the TV. They have no other connections. With the adjustable bed, it would have been great. Oh well. I called and verified.
Answer from Kathleen G

Each room is different. I was in a twin queen bed room that had a door that did not go to the floor for the toilet, and the sink and vanity were in the actual bedroom. The shower stall was also located so that you stepped out of it into the common area. I was also in a King bed room that had a totally different layout - huge walk in shower with toilet and sink all in one private bathroom I would suggest calling them for details.
