Enjoyed the cabin with the pool. Great views and very friendly staff at reception at esp Tsepo who made sure we were comfortable. Rooms were good and pool clean. Only issues I have that the place need a renovation. Ideal for family fun and lots of things to do

Bathroom doors don't close properly (swollen doors) The latches are broken so it can't lock. Shower head does not work, water comes out the shower like a tap, onto a glass shelf which makes it very difficult to shower. Hand shower in the bathtub does not work at all, leaking from multiple points on the telephone. Rain water was leaking into the chalet from glass bricks above the dining area. No towels. Really, we've asked the reception numerous times but they claim that with no power they can't wash the towels. I've never experienced this at any resort before. The scenery is beautiful. House rides were nice.

From reception to check out , all staff were friendly and helpful. We loved our unit (23A), clean and neat. Any minor issue we had was quickly resolved. Will definitely return. The staff went out of their way to make our getaway memorable and special.

We booked here for one night (27 Aug 2023) to celebrate our anniversary. Started with a couples treatment afternoon at the spa. The therapists were very good. The treatment venue was not. We spent the entire 3 hours on the massage bed including the hand/foot and head massage time. Not pleasant. Had to pre-order the lunch included in the spa package off a very limited menu. I ordered a Cajun Chicken Salad and my husband ordered a Regina pizza. When we were seated at the restaurant, I was brought a greek salad and very politely told the waiter I had ordered the Cajun Chicken Salad. Rather than apologize for the misunderstanding and return the salad to the kitchen to get the order correct, the waiter rolled his eyes and insisted that was the order placed. He then went so far as to get the paper on which the massage therapist had written down the order. I politely replied again that she apparently misunderstood me then as that was not the salad I ordered. With some additional mutterings under his breath he went to the kitchen and evenutally returned with a few strips of chicken on a side plate. Further note that the restaurant apparently closed at 5pm that evening which no one bothered to share with us so we went without dinner. After lunch we went to check into our room. Were told we were being 'gifted' a bottle of wine & chocolates for our anniversary. Not much of a gift, when she then added that we'd have to pay R160 for it. We declined. Bearing in mind how low our expectations were at this point, they hit rock bottom when we went into the chalet and found feces floating in the toilet. The chalet overall was barely surface clean. There was no refuse bin in the kitchen (just the lid left under the sink for said refuse bin). And there is no WiFi access in the cottages (or perhaps it was just the one we were in).

We stayed from the 14/07/2023 - 17/07/2023. We were very disappointed with the service. We arrived at 4pm on the Friday and the unit was not cleaned. The cleaners had just started cleaning and we had to wait outside. We drove from Durban with kids and an elderly person. Now we had to still wait outside. The second day we had to call to request toilet paper as they did not replace the toilet paper. We made about 8 calls. On the Sunday we went out, to allow the cleaners to clean. Came back 4 hours later and our unit was not cleaned. All the mornings dishes, etc. were still on the counters. Called reception and was informed that they would sort out. After 17 (yes 17 calls) still not happened. Eventually had to go to reception to request towels and toilet paper (we were 10 people in one of the bigger units). Spoke a manager and was told that cleaning can take place anytime from 9am to 3pm. We went to reception at 4pm and at that time nobody came to clean our unit. The service is definitely not up to standard. We went out in the morning to allow the cleaning to happen. I do not know of any other place that cleans after 12pm.... Really disappointed - we have been there before and comparing the different visits, I can definitely see that the standard has dropped.

A lovely scenic drive, well maintained entrance with a cheerful security guard on duty. Chalets/units well-spaced out with clear views of the rolling hills and farmlands. Reception staff need to be trained in customer service, able to assist the patrons efficiently. Also, rude to gossip about guests within earshot of other guests. Senior staff would walk away when a guest has a complaint. Restuarant service was very slow 50min for a pizza when we were the only patrons there, late afternoon. The unit was dirty, stained carpets, bathroom grimy, taps not working properly, stains on sheets, couches, outside the unit unkempt with moss and dirt laden paving. We requested a change of unit. Views are awesome with beautiful sunrise and sunsets and sounds of farm animals grazing down on neighbouring farms. If maintenance and staff training is upped this will be a lovely retreat for rest and relaxation.

Nice resort with friendly staff and good food! Very disappointed with the management and attention to detail. We complained that our room had no kettle but nothing was done. Also, two candles (no matches and candlestick holders) is NOT a loadshedding solution. Do better!

Restaurant needs some improvement and staff discipline. Some of them are snobbish, lack smiles, don't greet, and are arrogant. Had a 7yr old child who wanted cheese toast. Understandably it's not on the menu but they could've made an effort. The lady said she can eat eggs on toast. So if there is toast surely they can add some cheese onto it even if not melted as I understand there was loadshedding. But why isn't there a generator for the restaurant then!! Disappointing. The hotel advertised on their whatsapp group "Feeling cold? Don't worry, we have firewood for sale...". I went to get firewood but they have no Firestarters. It was out of stock. The rooms have no heaters, no heated blankets, no aircons with heaters. For loadshedding there isn't any portable emergency lamps, no candles either. There isn't any insecticide spray for the dozens of insects, spiders etc in the unit.

What a disappointment! Our unit at Saddle and Trout was extremely dirty. Used bedding greeted us along with dirty coffee mugs, dinner plates, spider webs, dead flies and sticky floors. The fridge has also seen better days. We will definitely not be visiting again any time soon!

What was supposed to be a memorable anniversary weekend turned into a nightmare. From the moment we entered our chalet and being met with the sight of a freshly tramped worm, to a chalet that was infested with flies, a terrible smell in the bedrooms and bathrooms and wet feathers stuck on the furniture, cushions and shower railings, to the time we were forced to vacate the chalet early Sunday morning, it was one disaster after the other. Don't let me get started on the horrible service we received from the restaurant. Worst one being having my child slip and fall in the passage on Friday night because the shower was leaking through the walls. Even after bringing this to the managements attention, it wasnt taken seriously. I was told Mr Jonathon Stanley would call me on Sunday. Still waiting from Sunday, 8h30am for his call. I asked for a service evaluation questionnaire and was told it would be emailed to me. Still awaiting that too. This is how pathetic the service is. Staff would rather blame load shedding, shortage of staff etc for their bad service. Not sure how this resort is being run. But extremely disappointed that I paid so much for a disaster!
