This place is absolutely amazing. The service was exceptional as you would expect from a 6 star resort. There is actually nothing i can fault these guys on - the whole experience was just perfect! We will definitely be returning!
Our 3rd trip in 8 years and the best yet. Congrats to Tim and the team for coming through the bushfires and Covid so successfully. Great to see the resort busy and as gorgeous as ever. This time our big plus points were: - food and beverage - better than ever… the new partnership with Bentley is working very well. Last time(2 years ago) I was disappointed in the included wines, but certainly not this time. Great job. Would still love to see the return of the degustation menu option, even if for a small add on fee. Nice to see the evening menu changing during our stay…. That’s really important for slightly longer trips. - we did more activities this time (as we had 4 nights), and they were all fabulous (although see further below) - we also took a lovely long walk out to a corner of the resort we’d not been to before and it was gorgeous - throughly recommended - we found our optimum length of stay - 4 nights is dreamy…. The 3 “total relax” days this gives you solely at the resort is heavenly. - our hosts on our activities were awesome, Kat on conservation is BRILLIANT, but so we’re our hosts for the stargazing campfire and archery - apologies I forgot their names - all staff we met with were brilliant. It was clear there were some less experienced staff around but in no way was this an issue, in fact the opposite as we enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing about their stories - for the first time we did the conversation activity and got to plant 17 new trees! It was brilliant. Even better for us is they are visible from the villas … in future years when we return we now really look forward to seeing how ‘our trees’ are getting along! Kat, who ran the activity with us was amazing, fun, knowledgeable, bursting with ideas and I very inspiring. I strongly recommend everyone do a conservation activity while at the resort Our feedback/opportunities are - activity booking… we’d booked (via email before arrival) the wilderness campfire and stargazing out on the resort…. We actually got the stargazing at 1832. It was still brilliant, but I didn’t realise about the change until the activity had actually started and we weren’t notified about the change at all (and didn’t want to embarrass our host by mentioning it just as we were starting)…. I was especially disappointed not to be out on the resort, nor to have any telescopes available - which were in the marketing for the activity. A shame but we still enjoyed it and our host was great, and from what I can make out we were billed for the lower cost 1832 based activity so I didn’t make a complaint while at the resort. - As with our stay 2 years ago, we continue to notice some minor work that needs to be done around the resort… a bit of a shame to see this hasn’t been done during the Covid closure (at least not to the villa we stayed in). Most of this is about the crumbling stonework around the pool in the villa. We appreciate this may be a high cost to fix but it needs to be done before long in our opinion. But, just to be clear for anyone reading this yet to visit the resort, these issues are very minor and the resort is stunning - We found our villa noiser than we remembered from previous trips, and the fact the pool pump seems to be running 24/7 is surprising. Could this be turned off at night to cut both noise and energy consumption? We also noticed the water tank behind the bathroom making quite a bit of noise every few hours which woke my wife a couple times. We really should have mentioned this while at the resort but she didn’t want to make a fuss. We don’t remember this from previous stays so I suspect it’s an issue with just the one villa (36) and probably already fixed. - Our activity hosts all had great ideas for potential new activities, which we loved and gave them our ideas on too… e.g. we’d love to see a more demanding walking trail up one of the peaks, a more in depth stargazing experience, a landscape or astrophotography themed trip (perhaps with an expert guide on a specific weekend?), options to dine out on the resort e.g. lunch on a deck. I got the feeling that getting new activities in the list wasn’t very easy, despite the great ideas from your team, but I may have read that incorrectly. We hope that as you continue building up the team you’ll be able to do more to add experiences and themed stays, as well as work on the marketing of these. - Also, are you working with regular / repeat guests to really deeply listen to feedback and get input into development…. we’d be so very happy to help if so - we think you could make much more of your environmental credentials within the marketing - it’s such an important part of the work you have done in establishing and running the resort - are there options for day visitors/volunteers to come and support the conservation work on the reserve? You have a stunning part of the world that I’m sure many would love to help nourish. No need for that activity to impact guests as the resort is so large. - minor point, but we did tire slightly of the mowing / trimming being done right by the main homestead during either breakfast or lunch. This happened two or three times. On one occasion one of the restaurant staff rightly asked the gardeners to stop as it was so noisy he guests could hardly have a conversation…. I’m sure this a super easy fix in terms of schedules, but respect that you want to keep the place well manicured. - another minor point, room cleaning was generally flawless, but just on one night we ate at 6.30pm got back to the villa at about 8.30pm and turn down service hadn’t been done… no issue, we were fine with it. The next morning we had a note outside to say they had tried to come and clean about 9.15pm. I’m sure you usually try to time turn down with guests dinner reservation times as every other night it was flawless - entertainment options in the room…. Perhaps time for a small upgrade? E.g. allowing guests to be able to log in to their own Netflix / Apple TV / other streaming options for entertainment? Nice to see a good list of movies in your system though. Overall, and despite us having a number of items of feedback above, we THOROUGHLY enjoyed our stay and really hope to be back again. Our challenge is always adapting back to “real life” after a stay as we do miss it so much afterwards. Thanks to the whole team at Wolgan Valley once again for a wonderful stay. I love this resort but we went away for a weekend of massage and spa treatments and could not get a single booking. We spoke to other guests who had multiple bookings and for a 6 star resort this is not good enough. We will go back but this needs to be much better
This was our second time at Wolgan Valley. Entering the property is like leaving the world behind. The staff are amazing, the experience is phenomenal and we will be back for sure. My boys loved the ranger program and this is a highlight for anyone going with kids.
An amazing, beautiful and unique location. We loved everything about Wolgan Valley - the food, service, accommodation, wildlife and the natural beauty. Staff were really helpful and attentive and we felt very spoiled. There was lots to do eg bushwalking, bike riding, wombat spotting, stargazing or you can just relax and soak up the landscape. We will return!
