We welcome you to our unique home by the beautiful Eoropie beach and near the Butt of Lewis. Couples, solo adventurers, friends, hikers, bikers, surfers, artists, groups, and families are welcome. No pets, motorhomes, or campervans. Award-winning children's play-park, swimming pool and sports centre (gym, sauna, sports hall, ten-pin bowling) all within five minutes' stroll. Butt of Lewis lighthouse just five minutes' drive. The Decca is a former radio navigation station in the northwest of the Isle of Lewis near the Butt of Lewis. It has been converted into a family home with bed and breakfast rooms. The conversion has retained some of the industrial features whilst creating bedrooms, a dining room & a lounge that are comfortable & welcoming. David and Ariana welcome you to our home, where you'll experience warm hospitality with an environmentally-friendly, minimal waste lifestyle in what we consider to be one of the most the spectacular settings in the world. Meals are cooked with love and care, using organic and local ingredients where possible. We are situated near the beautiful Eoropie beach and within the glorious Loch Stiapabhat nature reserve with its wildlife observatory just a 5-minute walk away.

This is clearly something of a new venture for David & Ariana and we are sure that they will adapt in the light of feedback. It does not feel like a traditional B&B, and certainly did not feel like we were joining into a family home. It had more of the feel of a hostel than BnB. The guest kitchen was basic and frozen foods were good/excellent. The “no waste” ethos of the Decca is clearly to be lauded, but the number of signs and notices around the place did give the sense of being preached to all the time. Lack of tea making facilities in room was the only time we encountered this on our 8 day Hebridean Way Cycle. We arrived for our pre-arranged breakfast to find our mugs of coffee and toast already in the table- they were still hot but only because we were fairly punctual. Lionel is a remote spot with little in the way of creature comforts and if the Decca could be softened up a little I am sure it could become a warm & welcome retreat, but it has a little way to go at the moment.

Nice people, lovely rooms, lots of space. We were finishing the Hebridean Way by bike. Terrible weather and we were cold and wet. Contacted David and arranged an early check-in. When we arrived there was coffee and home made cookies waiting! Prepared home made meals were delicious. Great stay.

Arriving early in Ness on a gloomy rainy Sunday afternoon, a phone call to Pete was greeted with I'm all ready for you, come on in' After talking through Covid 19 protocols, we settled in to our room, simply and comfortably furnished. Then made use of the lovely lounge and read our way through to dinner, one of Louise's recipes, cooked and presented perfectly by Pete, who noted my dietry requirements. Breakfast set us up for a days exploring, about which Pete made suggestions that turned out brilliantly. The homely atmosphere and warm welcome draws us back. Hope we'll make it, much more to explore. LOVED our stay.

After a day of rain we decided against camping and with very little notice The Decca was able to offer us a room. Facilities were good, the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great. As a whole the property was clean although I wouldn’t say it was spotless but can’t complain with the very little notice given.
