Tom and Rose, the hosts, have been in the game a long time and it shows. They are the epitome of great hosts. That being aside the room we had was spacious and very comfortable. They also had the blessing of a very good chef so we ate in house several times. Rose also did a very good breakfast for guests and the private bar was an added plus. Would not stay anywhere else but here in Invercargill it was a home away from home.

If the classic Victorian architecture and spacious comfortable rooms were not enough the warm inviting hosts would make for a special stay. You won’t go wrong booking a room at the Victoria Railway hotel.

This private hotel is a gem. Can't recommend it highly enough, on the basis of our limited experience over the past two days. We had arrived from Manapouri, raining continuously, and were able to find a park right by the hotel entrance. Plenty of off-street parking if you can't be as lucky as us. Our hosts were fantastic - service, advice, flexibility, you name it. We decided to have dinner in-house and were enjoying a drink in their great little bar when the news hit about a Covid case in Auckland. We watched the news with other guests, had a great dinner, slept well, and headed home to Christchurch the next morning. We had intended to stay two nights! Asking if there was a local supermarket so we could buy something to eat/drink on the drive, we were offered a "packed lunch". Fantastic! Thanks guys. Location is ideal for access to central Invercargill, and the whole package of a warm, inviting small hotel, with large comfortable rooms, in a lovely "not new" building, with excellent hosts, is hard to find everywhere. We will definitely be back, viruses permitting!

This hotel was definitely our highlight of our time down the deep south. Tom and rose were lovely hosts. Room.was warm and comfy.. little noisy from the road but I was ok with that. Great little bar by the fire and beautiful food from the kitchen. Would highly recommend..

Great communication and friendly host happy to help point out some local attractions. Warm room, which was needed against the wind and hail! Great location for restos/cafes or heading further to Bluff. Handy parking.

This Heritage listed hotel is without doubt the best I have stayed in. And that is because the hosts really made you welcome. Large warm room( we had an executive studio on the ground floor- I can't do stairs). Breakfasts included continental or cooked, both were a great way to start the day. Very convenient location. You will love the snug bar and the lovely old furniture if you are an antique buff like me. We'll be back!!

After an 8 hour journey getting here, with Rain, sleet, Hail and Wind, we arrived at the Oasis of Invercargill. So warm, inviting and personable. Toasty room, excellent bar with great beverage selection. Superb conversations with our host and other guests then a terrific meal in the restaurant. The outside world disappeared once you come through the doors. Highly recommended

Great characterful hotel, super friendly host, nice room, great breakfast. Good location. We didn't have dinner there, but the menu looked interesting and, judging by the breakfast, it would have probably been good.

Excellent hosts. Asked to change room from side, (quieter) to front with view over rail yard. Not a problem. Great Wi-Fi, and excellent restaurant with private bar. Would stay again for sure. Free parking in adjacent car park building secure at night. Awesome old building done up
