Being bored into rock the rooms are extremely quiet. Our room was a bit dated but clean enough. The wifi worked only in a straight line from the door and cut out once behind an internal wall where the bed was located. We ate dinner in the on-site restaurant and while the steaks were very well cooked the service was average.

A great experience sleeping in an underground room, lots of fun although slightly cold. Would recommend that if in Coober Pedy stay underground. The staff were helpful and the underground bar and restaurant both of good quality. Only comment the showers could be improved

We held a conference at the Desert Cave over a weekend in early September. The arrangements in the lead up to the event were excellent. The menus (and food) provided for our welcome reception and conference dinner were outstanding. Our main contact, Harsha (and his team) were so easy to deal with, responded to all of our requests promptly and generally offered great customer service. As the conference organiser I can highly recommend the Desert Cave Hotel if you're wanting to host an event in South Australia's Outback.

We wanted an underground experience and due to COVID lockdown in SA missed out on our original booking at another hotel. The reception was not manned when we arrived and it took about 10mins and a few calls to the reception number for a staff member to check us in. Staff were friendly but seemed busy. The room was furnished with outdated furniture not really suited to the underground theme but clean enough. No amenities to prepare a meal however there is an amazing restaurant across the road (highly recommend John’s Pizzas). Good location for strolling about town. Restaurant was closed due to COVID. Enjoyed the shaft walk to the spice shop with all the mining history along the way. I think the room was overpriced for what it is.
