What a beautiful drive up to Coober Pedy. Next time I’ll take longer. Accomodation was old but that’s ok. Nice managers fitting of the area. I finally had my stay in an underground room. It was so good. Enjoyed the warmer weather with a glass of wine in the car park with other guests. Then we walked to dinner for a nice pizza
Very well located in Coober Pedy with everything around in the center of the town for an unique underground hotel stay. The room is very clean, safe and combined with the excellent service and hospitality offered by the couple managing Radeka which is outstanding that adds to a great experience on this unique outback town. Strongly recommended!
Was an experience, something very different. We enjoyed. Had double bed and bunks with own ensuite. Tv with kettle in room. Linen clean. Nothing flash but as you see by town everyone lives like this. So if you are after 5 star this is not the place to go but if you want something different and little exciting and out of the norm well give this place a go. Note to set alarm if leaving early as once lights out room is pitch black as no windows Manager very accomodating. We walked in with no booking. Would definitely go back.
Stayed here with my partner for a few nights and was great. Heather and Gary were lovely, very friendly and even took time out to star gaze and showed us the moon, jupiter and saturn through the telescope. The room was adequate and clean. Everything we needed was in the room. I would highly recommend Radeka to anyone.
The town of Coober Pedy is not a fancy place and Radeka is certainly not a fancy hotel. That being said, it is a quirky and absolutely unique hotel and a very enjoyable place to stay. Whilst the facilities are relatively basic, we found everything to be clean, tidy and in working order. The complex (the only word I can think of that really fits), sprawls across the large, above-ground level and the absolutely massive underground, man-made cave system. The location is fantastic (bang in the middle of town) and the rooms are cool and shady, being excavated from the rocky hillside. The thing that really set Radeka apart from the other hotels on our outback road-trip was the service. Radeka is managed by an incredibly helpful couple named Gary and Heather. During our stay, Gary and Heather were extremely gracious and accommodating of our needs and instrumental in solving several problems that we encountered whilst staying in town. We were also lucky enough to experience one of Gary's impromptu 'star tours', when he brought out his telescope and (several sets of) binoculars. Overall, Radeka is a clean, cozy and reasonably priced pit-stop on your way through the outback and the outstanding service sets it well ahead of other hotels in the region.…
We stayed here for two nights in an underground double motel room. The room was well equipped, comfortable and clean. The price we paid represents great value for the room. The staff were very friendly providing us with lots of tourist information and tips. We also had an evening bus and the staff allowed us a late check out due to the extreme temperatures which was much appreciated. A great option in Coober Pedy.
This place is great value, we stayed on an underground room with our two children. The room was a double and two bunks but included a dining table ensuite and mini fridge. When we checked in we were made to feel very welcome and even got a discount on the room. Everything was really clean and the location walking distance to everything. Would definitely start here again.
Edward was very helpful and gave us names of places to have a great meal MOTEL WAS LOVELY AND CLEAN AND HAD ALL WE NEEDED FOR A GREAT OVER NIGHT STAY HOPE TO GO BACK AND STAy longer The price was really bood for 3 poeple Raelene Donna Lorna
I had a fantastic stay at the Radeka Downunder Underground Motel and Backpacker Inn. Heather and Gary made me so welcome. I found everything I needed at this well run hostel/motel. There is a variety of accommodation options, for every budget. I found the cost very reasonable for the well organised facilities provided. A very friendly oasis in the desert. Thank you both for a wonderful couple of days and for sharing your knowledge of Coober Pedy with me.
We stayed here 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay in a budget double room. There was pretty much nobody else there so felt as if we had the entire facilities to ourselves which was nice but everything was working and clean which is always good. If you’re in town this location is perfect for a short stop off as everything you need is walking distance
