Stayed for the night on our way to Uluru. It was very easy check in. Run down but that's the outback experience. The room was clean and it had everything you need for a short stay. The sunset from the street was amazing.
A bit rundown but genuine dugout with a pool and BBQ area. Kindest most lovely helpful manager and cleaner. This the real Coober Pedy Beware though Coober Pedy does not have a taxi service. You need to work out airport transfers before you leave
We were disappointed with the lack of cleanliness in the apartment. The bathroom was clean but we found that the table tops (coffee and dining) were both very dirty. We also found the cushions on the lounge very dirty. In one of the kitchen cupboards (closest to the bathroom) there were several pieces of stale bread. Particularly in the current climate, these cleanliness issues are particularly important. We also noted that the wiring of the power point closest to the dining table was exposed. With 3 children this was a significant safety concern. We have reported this to the business but have not received a reply.
stayed there previously, never again. poorly maintained , dirty, and unhealthy. water was turned off during repairs, not able to flush toilet or wash hands. left a list of concerns with manager, he may look at them!!!!!
This hotel/motel is dug out in the hills, like most houses and accommodation in Coober Pedy. We had a family room with 3 BR. Very spacy and decent kitchen with fridge, oven and microwave. Swimming pool available, which very few hotels offer. Some in our party found it a little chilly, however it is out of the sun and must be HEAVEN in summer when temperatures reach almost 50 degrees C in Coober Pedy. Some areas for improvement: * WIFI signal non-existent in the room ( but works OK in the reception area ) * you do hear noisy neighbours ( through the ventilation system in the hills ) * TV signal is not always working as should. I wanted to see a cycle race at night, however the free-to-air SBS signal fell away ( even after the owner/manager had stopped by to set it up during the day ).…
We decided to explore SA after our America trip was cancelled due to Covid. Coober Pedy was on the itinerary and perfect timing to as our government provided lucky residents with a state accommodation voucher. Desert view apartments were participating so here we are. Id never been to Coober Pedy before so when I think underground I picture walking downstairs to my accommodation, however the apartments are built into a hilly ground which surprised me. The accommodation was very spacious, 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, lounge and bathroom. It was very quiet - a perfect relaxing evening after a long day of driving. Great experience.
Friends booked this & we stayed for 2 nights, in Apartment 3. Outdated, tired & Worn out, dirty furniture. (especially lounges). One had 3 straps broken when you went to sit on it - OH&S issue. 4 of us shared this unit, our married friends had main bedroom. Mattress ok. 2nd bedroom had 3 single beds, only one was decent & mattress ok. Other 2 single beds were springs with spring mattresses. The worst had our bags on it, the other sagged in middle, only option take mattress into lounge room put on carpet & make do. I did ask the cleaner if any other beds better? He took me to another room 6 not occupied. I chose the best one out of 3 (same as my friend had) he would ring to ok with manager to change. Didn't happen & No communication. No one in attendance during our stay, no answer to mobile number left on reception door. Obviously don't care about their guests or supplying any kind of customer service. Had a "cute" brown mouse nibble on our food left out on kitchen bench & in cupboards. Bathroom cupboard door literally fell off when it was opened :( 3 of the ceiling lights were not working. The cleaner gave us new light bulbs. We asked him, are you going to change them, no don't have a ladder, can you do it? Like what!! Left them on kitchen counter, where still there when we left. Pool closed for winter. It's now October should be open. Only good thing was a good shower. Give this place 1/10. Owners don't care about this place, it shows from moment you open front door. Disgusting. …
We decided based on reviews to stay here for 6 nights with our family. Reception was supposed to be open 9-5. It was never open for the entire time we were here. We needed to ask for towels and more than one tiny shampoo which was all they had given us. We also only had been left one toilet roll. For 4 people. We called the reception number, and had to leave message. Eventually someone got back to us and left some towels and shampoo/cake soap. We called again asking for toilet paper and did not even get a response. Apparently at some stage someone was going to service the room. Nobody ever did. For six days. They did not even return our calls after day 3. So we had to buy our own toilet paper etc. only one bin bag as well. There was grime on the dishes (food residue from the previous people as well), so I had to scrub the pots and pans prior to use. I could only do so much though because they were cheap with the results of long term neglect and poor cleaning. We had to buy bin liners as well since they only supplied us with one bag. See above for the “service”. We paid $825 for 6 nights in. 2 bedroom dugout. What an absolute ripoff, when there was no support. I think there was someone around, because in the afternoons, we could clearly hear the doof doof of loud music coming from the apartment next to reception, ruining any serenity the setting may have had. Will never recommend this place.…
The apartments were huge, with a lounge room and very spacious bedrooms. The kitchen was quite old, however had everything we needed. It was a great experience being able to stay underground! The temperature outside was 38 degrees, however you would have never know whilst you were inside as the apartment stayed very cool. We didn’t even have to switch the air con on! Fantastic stay, would recommend!
I can’t understand reviewers saying they’re “disappointed”. This place represents great value. It was very cheap. The beds were comfy. Plenty of room for our entire family and the pool is a godsend in these temperatures. We would definitely stay again.
