From our first impression on entering the hotel, it was special. I didn’t feel afraid or claustrophobic even though the stone walls were plain to see that we were underground. I slept very well at night on the comfortable bed, without hearing or air conditioning in the perfect temperature. Breakfast offered cereal with lots of milk varieties, toast and jams, fruit and yoghurt from memory. Everything was clean and tastefully decorated. I loved it, but realise it’s not for everyone!
We had 2 nights in this exceptional place, an old opal mine converted into a hotel. The room was very spacious and well appointed with table and chairs we used to have our breakfast,, crockery, cutlery microwave kettle . The corridors were most interesting with remains of the old working mine displayed here and there. I loved the collection of old bottles and the seating area where the wifi reception was better than in the room. The pamphlet explaining the history of the place is most interesting and the host very friendly, the complimentary lollies, pens and hand sanitiser a great touch, well appreciated. Tank you . There is also a BBQ area and table and chairs to relax outside as well
A lovely experience in an underground hotel. Friendly service, lovely large room and close to most of what the town has to offer. We were a bit worried that the air quality would be poor, but there was no issue with this at all. It was pretty cool to see some opal remnants in the ceiling too!
The very extensive areas of this fascinating hotel have been excavated from the rock and then very nicely finished off with a pleasant decor, an eclectic collection of furniture and comfortable rooms and lounges. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed, with a good bathroom, and we spent a very pleasant night there. The staff were very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The team at the comfort inn could not do enough to accomodate me during my stay From squeezing me in an extra night which was originally unplanned, too offering to drop to the airport to make my flight , and even offering the services of their company van to get around time while I was carless, their level Of customer service led by Melissa was second to none I’ll be staying here time and time again when in the area for work
Wow what a unique experience we had staying at Coober Pedy! A must for the bucket list! Stayed 2 nights in Nov ‘21 in an underground hotel, the Comfort Inn with a very nice Manager Melissa! We had beautiful soft as sheets and the best smelling shower gel ever. Followed by a great tour of Coober Pedy with George from Oasis Tours! Lizzie + D
We have stayed here previously and the second time did not disappoint. Thanks to the staff for the wonderful welcome and help. Still wifi and mobile reception in the rooms is a problem. Not sure how they can fix that underground.. Room was very clean.
This place was a great place to experience underground hotel. The people were very polite. Only disappointment was the WiFi. I understand its underground and the Internet is patchy but even the WiFi didn't work well. For $180 per night I expected WiFi. But apart from that it was a great place to stay and I would go back despite the WiFi.
What an underwhelming experience. The online pictures didn’t match the room we stayed in. Bathroom very small, hit your head on the towel rail when you sat on the toilet. No food on site” we don’t cook underground “ there is a TV in the room, but no reception “ we are underground “ that’s why cables were invented. Staff not overly helpful. No telephone in the room, no wifi, no mobile reception “ underground “ . Management staff challenges/discussions heard in passage. Room evacuation sign not on back of door but behind the TV. And then there was the price…$240 for one night no breakfast! Sad experience. Would never go back nor recommend.
Mel and her staff at the underground hotel, were friendly and very helpful with our stay in Coober Pedy. Rooms were clean, the continental breakfast was was well presented . Helpful with contact who could help us out with vehicle issues. Would recommend anyone to stay at this hotel
