You're in Coober Pedy, not much has changed or updated for a very long time. I didnt want to stay in the caved/underground accomodation so figured a house would be best suited. Seeing that the house was up a little hill on a big allotment, to me it feels a little eerie. Our original room, first to the left as you walk in, the air con was not working. Having no luck with getting in touch with the owner/contact person we moved to the room near the kitchen, the aircon helped A LOT. however there was a door that led to outside, so that gave room for cockroaches to creep in. Hubby and I spent one night to break up our drive to Uluru. Lets just say that on the way back we did not rest at CP.
I have traveled all over the world and stayed in many types of accommodation from tents to 5 star hotels and this is by far the worst place I have ever been. I failed to read the reviews before booking and regretted it. Upon entering the house we were greeted by a bombarded of cockroaches, the kitchen ceiling had a gaping hole big enough to fit a person with the roofing and wires hanging out in it which looked like a safety hazard and the house was dusty, dark, unwelcoming and had a really bad smell. This is still being kind! The owner did offer us another property along side this one, which was even dirtier, smellier and even more cockroaches, I can at least say no gaping ceiling. He assured us of a refund repeatedly (I have mailed twice and called him several times) which still after several weeks has never materialized as it was so bad we could not even stay there and had to find alternative accommodation. I would never go again, nor would I recommend it to any-one.…
We arrived at Coober Pedy at around 11pm and found this place last minute. The first impression of a left construction site is even creepier at night but dont get scared by this. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are clean, well equipped and worth the price! Definetley would stay here again!
I have stayed here many times before, there is new management and the quality of the services provided has improved. There is plenty of parking, the rooms are clean, air-conditioned and have been upgraded.
A great little place to stay. A share house , separate rooms with ensuite but shared lounge and kitchen. Very clean and comfortable- we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves. Very close to shopping and eating places
Breakaway Views is by far the best place we have stayed on a three month outback trip. Originally booked for a couple of days we extended and extended as we couldn't get ourselves to leave. On a hill with great views the room was air-conditioned, spotlessly clean, Paul, the hotel manager, could not have been more helpful and obliging and it was very hard to tear ourselves away to continue our trip. Very reasonably priced, this is the perfect place to stay when visiting Coober Pedy. You will leave refreshed and relaxed after the total pleasure of staying here. I can't recommend this highly enough. Enjoy!
The place is amazing - very close to the main street, spotlessly clean and Paul gave me a warm welcome and some useful information. Absolutely loved the place! I had the place for myself, so it was very quiet. It might be a bit noisier if there are more guests as all rooms have a door to the living room with a large TV. Still, you could not choose a better place to stay in Coober Pedy.
This is sort of a share accommodation there are several rooms, some with ensuites it has a communal lounge and kitchen which is well set up. The only thing you must remember is to bring any food you may like to eat and soap and shampoo. It is very clean and comfortable and has heating and cooling. The place does not have signage so is a little difficult to find but you do get GPS coordinates.
