Very few places like this still exist in the world. A totally natural, 'away from it all,' friendly island eco set up, with clean comfortable rooms, natural gardens right on the beach - absolute beachfront, with no roads between you and the sea. Hot showers, cooking facilities, wonderful walking tracks, pristine beaches, coral reef snorkeling off beaches, kayak to lagoon. Perfect relaxation.
Peaceful setting with stunning views and very comfortable accommodation. Lots of great tracks for hiking and exploring the many bays and beaches. The hosts ensure you have the best experience. The tents here are 'glamping tents' with all you need for a great stay.

Svendsens Beach is the most beautiful 5 star Glamping resort. Everything is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained and presented. The hosts are frendley and obliging nothing is too much trouble, we even got to have a sing a long by the camp fire. The walking tracks around the resort are well maintained with little poems engraved in rock for you to read while on the trail. I will be going back for more tranquillity, to listen to the sea and the birds.

Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to write this. I know that once guests leave, they go back to very busy lives, and feel so grateful that you wrote a review for us! I'm glad you liked your stay! I don't think it is 5 star - a bit more basic than that - but thank you for your appreciation!

I have no words to describe how incredible this place is. Lyndie and Carl are amazing hosts and the vibe the place has was just what we needed. We stayed in the cabin, it has been carefully decorated and has all you need to have a great time, it was sparkling clean and the shower is just enough to feel nice and clean after a day pf walking or on the beach.

I did ask you to write a review - something I haven't done for many years now, but I am so appreciative that you deliberately found time to write such lovely words for us! We certainly loved having you here - you were polite, funny, engaging and considerate guests. So happy that you got to see all those teeny sharks - one of my favourite things to see! All the very best, and thank you again, Lyndie

This is our third time staying at Svendsons Beach, twice in the studio and once in the glamping tents and won’t be our last!! The pure serenity and beauty of the whole place just keeps on drawing us back. From the hikes or the snorkeling or the kayaking along the beaches you can’t get better!! Just pure peace and relaxation.

Svensdens Beach retreat is quite simply one of the most special and unique travel experiences that we have ever had.. and we have been lucky enough to have stay in many highly luxurious, beautiful hideaways across the world! Carl and Lyndie are so delightful ...funny, honest, generous and both wise, natural teachers. We learned about coral and astronomy, we had many memorable conversations, we sing, walked and laughed together. We also had time to relax and enjoy the wonders of GKI..It was a beautiful stay, with two special souls and we will never forget it. Do NOT hesitate to book, you will not regret it!!! Thank you so much Carl and Lyndie 🤗

Thank you so much for finding the time to write us a review! I so appreciate you giving so freely of you no doubt very busy time. It was a pleasure having you to stay and we hope your year will be lovely! Our place is not the last word in luxury - it is basic but comfortable - but with guests still having to collect their own water for showers, we realise that it is still probably just comfortable camping! But it is close to the beach and on this wonderful island that we love so much. We are all blessed with our time here! Thanks again!

If you are looking for seclusion and a relaxing time away from crowds, this is the place! We stayed here for 4 nights with family – my parents in the studio room (which is closest to the camp kitchen and has an ensuite shower room and separate toilet), my husband and I in the queen tent and teenage boys in the twin tent. The tents were clean with proper beds that were very comfortable, have reading lamps and USB chargers for the GoPro! The pretty gardens are well maintained and there are pieces of Lyndie’s artworks and thoughtful little touches everywhere. The two flush toilets, bathrooms and open-air camp kitchen were all very clean. There are two fridges but we only needed the one for the 6 of us. There is also an outdoor fireplace which you can use to bbq or roast your marshmallows. The location is right on the beach which sees few visitors and it is a 15 minute walk across the headland to Butterfish Bay takes you to even more secluded beaches. The path is a little rocky near the end but my 74 year old mum and 80 year old dad managed it several times ok. Another 15 minute walk over the sand dunes and through a shady, sandy trail took us to Wreck Beach where my son was able to spend all afternoons kite-surfing with no-one else to get in his way as he practiced on this amazing long beach. We saw lots of goats, peacocks and other birds as well as plenty of fish on the small reef at Butterfish Beach. There is a bigger reef at Wreck Beach, although the currents here are not for beginners. The beach at the front of the retreat is good for easy swimming. Hosts Lyndie and Carl (and their very clever dog Elsie) can answer any questions you have on where to go and what to do. You might go for 3 or 4 nights the first time but you’ll want to stay longer next time!…

"Absolutely Brilliant" is the way to describe our stay. We spent three nights Glamping. Our hosts Lyndie & Carl are two of the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet, nothing is a problem for them & they are happy and very attentive to their guests without being overbearing. They both a have a great sense of humor & their knowledge of the local area & secret spots on the island is second to none. The location is something out of a "castaway movie set" or documentary with gorgeous sandy white beaches, rolling mountains for hiking and crystal clear water. The scenery & birdlife are stunning. There are some sensational walking tracks & the snorkeling on the reefs is amazing. Kayak hire & snorkeling gear is available for hire at a very reasonable rate. The tents were immaculately clean as well as the toilets and the camp kitchen, which overlooks the stunning beach. It is very well organised with fridge & cooking facilities & all utensils. If you enjoy, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, reading or just want to relax on your own private beach and escape "the rat race" this is the place for you, We look forward to coming back.…

I felt very special being whisked away in our own private boat when Lindy collected us from the ferry. The beach kitchen was immaculate and very well equipped. Our studio apartment with views over the ocean was absolutely beautiful, decorated with Lindy’s artwork. My daughter and father-in-law stayed in the tents and were very comfortable. Strolls on the beach, sea kayaking, snorkelling on the reef and walking to local beauty spots kept as well entertained. I’m really interested in all things eco and so was fascinated by everything that Lindy and Carl had achieved on the island. We really enjoyed the kayaking trip that Lindy took us on and Carl’s extensive knowledge of the island. I can highly recommend - it is a VERY special place. Next time I’m staying for a week at the very least.…

Spent 3 nights glamping and what a great time we had in such a serene setting.. Carl and Lyndie were terrific hosts, and we enjoyed some terrific walks around Great Keppel. Evenings were just as nice preparing dinner in the camp kitchen while watching the sun go down over the mainland. Three night's maybe not enough .. would happily do it again.

This is one for the bucket list and not to be missed. Commencing with a fun-filled informative boat trip aboard ‘Punch’ - the beautiful boat built by Lyndie and her father-in-law - this four day trip was a very special holiday. Svendsen’s Eco-retreat has the most idyllic of locations and we rented the house which is comfortable, spacious, well appointed and decorated with a fantastic array of paintings, drawings, carvings and other artworks that showcase the talents of mine hosts, Carl and Lyndie. We enjoy walking and thanks to the efforts of our hosts there are variety of well-marked scenic and challenging trails to be discovered immediately out the back door of the house. Svendsen’s Beach is an inviting stretch of sand straight out the front and a rock hopping adventure awaits in the form of Little Peninsula at the northern end of the beach. Carl and Lyndie love to share their knowledge of the island and with the benefit of their helpful advice pre-trip we came stocked with the requisite food and drink items to meet our needs. The final evening singalong overlooking the setting sun on the beach was a fitting finale before the boat trip back to the busy side of Great Keppel. You won’t be disappointed with this choice and you won’t find friendlier, more accommodating hosts.…

Dear John, Maria, Peter and Mary, It was a joy to meet you all! And very pleasant to host you at our place. You are too kind! I love the idea that I built the Punch boat, but that is somewhat misleading. The late Punch Svendsen, my very experienced boat building father in law was the one who built my boat (he built a dozen or more boats in his life time), - I just stood where and did what I was told to! But thank you for your generous praise of this side of Great Keppel Island. It is the most wonderful place and deserving of passionate protectors! We look forwards to your return one day! Thank you for your review! Regards, Lyndie and Carl.
