Detailed Reviews
Svendsens Beach is the most beautiful 5 star Glamping resort.
Everything is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained and presented.
The hosts are frendley and obliging nothing is too much trouble, we even got to have a sing a long by the camp fire.
The walking tracks around the resort are well maintained with little poems engraved in rock for you to read while on the trail.
I will be going back for more tranquillity, to listen to the sea and the birds.

Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to write this. I know that once guests leave, they go back to very busy lives, and feel so grateful that you wrote a review for us! I'm glad you liked your stay! I don't think it is 5 star - a bit more basic than that - but thank you for your appreciation!

Such an incredible experience, the island is mind blowing, the colour of the water is insane, the beaches are stunning but the accomodation at svendnsens is even better. Carl and Lyndie (+Elsie) know the island better than anyone, they will explain you everything that you need , lovely people! A pleasure to stay there. Will definitely come back! Highly recommended

This is our third time staying at Svendsons Beach, twice in the studio and once in the glamping tents and won’t be our last!! The pure serenity and beauty of the whole place just keeps on drawing us back. From the hikes or the snorkeling or the kayaking along the beaches you can’t get better!! Just pure peace and relaxation.

Peaceful setting with stunning views and very comfortable accommodation. Lots of great tracks for hiking and exploring the many bays and beaches. The hosts ensure you have the best experience. The tents here are 'glamping tents' with all you need for a great stay.

I have no words to describe how incredible this place is.
Lyndie and Carl are amazing hosts and the vibe the place has was just what we needed.
We stayed in the cabin, it has been carefully decorated and has all you need to have a great time, it was sparkling clean and the shower is just enough to feel nice and clean after a day pf walking or on the beach.

I did ask you to write a review - something I haven't done for many years now, but I am so appreciative that you deliberately found time to write such lovely words for us! We certainly loved having you here - you were polite, funny, engaging and considerate guests. So happy that you got to see all those teeny sharks - one of my favourite things to see! All the very best, and thank you again, Lyndie

Svensdens Beach retreat is quite simply one of the most special and unique travel experiences that we have ever had.. and we have been lucky enough to have stay in many highly luxurious, beautiful hideaways across the world! Carl and Lyndie are so delightful ...funny, honest, generous and both wise, natural teachers. We learned about coral and astronomy, we had many memorable conversations, we sing, walked and laughed together. We also had time to relax and enjoy the wonders of GKI..It was a beautiful stay, with two special souls and we will never forget it.
Do NOT hesitate to book, you will not regret it!!!
Thank you so much Carl and Lyndie 🤗

Thank you so much for finding the time to write us a review! I so appreciate you giving so freely of you no doubt very busy time. It was a pleasure having you to stay and we hope your year will be lovely! Our place is not the last word in luxury - it is basic but comfortable - but with guests still having to collect their own water for showers, we realise that it is still probably just comfortable camping! But it is close to the beach and on this wonderful island that we love so much. We are all blessed with our time here! Thanks again!

What a wonderful way to unwind. We feel blessed that Lyndie, Carl and Elsie are sharing this place. A piece of paradise that we got to experience, with only one other couple.
Beaches to ourselves. Hiking the tracks. All the effort is in your own organisation to pack food and drinks. Once there, it’s heaven. Simple. Very clean. Peaceful.
Thanks again. We have only just got back and already looking at dates we can return.

I have stayed at Svendsen's Beach a number of times. It's my favourite spot out of the many Islands I've been to both here and abroad. The setting beautiful, relaxing and no shortage of things to see both during the day and at night. Seeing an Echidna waddle past at night is just wonderful not to mention the Curlews. Carl and Lyndie make you feel at home immediately. Their attention to detail is one of the things that makes it's so personal and special. A large protected bay sits to the front of the eco resort and it's only a 200 metre walk to The Little Beaches and reef. It's common to see turtles and lots of other marine life Lots of walks: Butterfish bay, Wreck Beach and many others. Canoeing is also available. Personally I love the the tents(Glamping really) but there's something to suit everyone. Can't wait to go back!!

Much of what you need to know about this place has been well expressed in other reviews. I just want to make some comments directed at those who are trying to decide where to stay in this region of Australia.
First of all you have few accommodation options on this island. And when you start looking at other islands in tropical Queensland you will find many very high prices, or low review scores, or both.
Facility wise, the tents and especially what they call the studio (actually a good sized bungalow) are very comfortable, beautifully decorated (including Lyndie's original paintings) and the studio is spacious with great ambiance and a nice view from the large front deck. The very clean flush toilet works well and is more than adequate for the number of guests normally in residence. The shower is an interesting camp style in a small building where you lower/raise a canvas bucket, fill it with hot water from a nearby tap and then turn it off and on as you soap up and rinse off - for us, just fine and kinda fun. And the shared camp kitchen is well equipped, each guest has plenty of refrigerator space, a large plastic tub for your own dry goods and a 2 burner gas stove and all the accouterments for cooking. We were there with 3 other guests and had no problem at all working around one another in the kitchen. Just be sure to plan carefully to bring exactly what food you plan to cook and eat (or drink), no more, no less (but fresh, pure drinking water is plentiful there)
Beyond these practicalities, for us Svendsen's Beach was simply magical from the moment Lyndie's little boat pulled up on their private beach. Her husband Carl (Svendsen) has lived here his whole life and between the two of them they have created something very, very special, welcoming and idyllic. Wandering around their grounds is very calming with the beautifully decorated little buildings and landscaping. Then as you walk the island (GREAT walking trails, views and beaches, anything from a short 10 minute stroll to a full day of exploration) you see Lyndie has thoughtfully cleared and marked major trails, placed chairs at overlook points and a number of beautiful smooth rocks all along decorated with her poems, trail names, calligraphy etc.
On top of all that the two of them are gracious, discrete and full of interesting local knowledge. What else can I say? If you want pool bars, (pricey) 5 star rooms/restaurants and a lively social scene then go somewhere else. But if you want a truly magical experience, a place to sooth your soul in the company of kindred spirits, something that will come back to you again and again in your memories and your dreams, then please, spend a few days at Svendsen's Beach.

I just spent 4 days at Svendsens Beach, 2nd time I've visited. The closeness to nature there is just so amazing. I snorkelled from the beaches every day, swam with a 1.3m turtle, saw a rare Beach Stone Curlew, had humming birds build a nest outside the window, watched pheasants fly back and forth from the verandah. My friends saw 3 blue tongue lizards. The nature sounds were so layered I made recordings at night. Lyndie and Carl are incredibly hospitable and share enormous knowledge of the area and wildlife. Accommodation is completely comfortable with gorgeous artisan touches from both plus art from Lyndie. I love it there and will be back.
