Staff were very friendly and hotel is in a great location. These aspects will put me off booking here again though: 1. Air con was not functioning properly and it was very hot and humid 2. Shower pressure was terrible 3. I asked for an early morning wake up call which I did not receive 4. Only available breakfast is the $27 buffet plus $5 coffee

A great place to stay, rooms were very clean and tidy and staff were very friendly. Lots of great places to eat and drink within 100m of the front door and an easy walk to Flinders Street and The Strand. Would definitely stay again.

This hotel is ripe for renovation! It’s very dated and pretty daggy BUT if you are ok with that and just want somewhere that is clean and well located in Palmer Street for a few restaurants (if you aren’t looking for luxe dining), it’s okay. Keep your expectations very measured and you’ll be fine!!! It’s a bit hilarious to think their own website uses the word ‘luxurious’. Hmmmmmm!!! We wouldn’t have chosen it in a different situation but given a flight issue we ended up choosing late notice accommodation and there was little to choose from on Christmas Eve/Day night - unsurprisingly!! The very spacious executive suite we did book was good value at Christmas time we thought though, despite the aged appearance. Nothing really matches in the room!! Parking was readily available and felt secure so that was good. We had a lost baggage/airline issue and we received good assistance from the fellow at the front desk, and always a smiling face from him generally. I’m just embarrassed not to remember his name - but certainly his welcoming nature outshone all his other colleagues over those couple of days who had a hard time even looking up the from the computer to make any eye contact!!

Staff was pleasant, but the room was very dated and had a weird layout with louvered shutters looking into the bathroom from the sitting area. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Common area was ok but a little run down. We only stayed a night, but wouldn’t stay there longer.

Stayed for 4 nights on business. Was perfectly located and room provided everything needed for the day. Tv is huge for the room and greet options to link streaming services. Power of shower and temperature was below average but not unbearable. Lighting in bathroom was terrible but you figure it out. Staff were friendly. What a shame they don’t have dining arrangements with the surrounding restaurants. It would save leaving the room of an evening.

The hotel is very central, convenient and easy to find. Parking was great, we had no trouble finding a space. We were greeted by friendly helpful reception staff. The room itself was good and modern. Tea, coffee, microwave and fridge were great. A really comfy bed and pillows made for great sleep. Unfortunately the bathroom was unacceptable and in total contrast to the rest of the room, which was quite bizarre. The shower was in dire need of renovation with tiles missing in the shower floor, grubby, well worn show mat used to partially cover it, cracked sink and deteriorated flush buttons on the toilet. Wish I had taken photos!! If the bathroom had been up to scratch, the whole stay would have been faultless.

This hotel is in bits and hasn't had any money spent on it in years. Beds are horribly uncomfortable and it is clear that no one in the place cares. Reception staff couldn't be bothered and it's kind of a situation whereby you figure it out on your own. We didn't eat at the hotel at any point yet they magically concocted an invoice for a fictious meal and a further small amount was charged to our card. It's just downright fraud and theft. I sent an email to the hotel and did not receive a response. There is no GM at all and zero ownership by any staff. They routinely ignore emails and it's just a bit of a doss house really. Would not recommend especially if you have kids with you.

Hi gazebosg. Sorry to hear you've had an unpleasant experience. In the last 6 months the property has replaced the beds throughout the entire hotel with our branded signature beds, we've also installed large smart TVs in all rooms. We would assume if there was a charge on your credit card that was incorrect (not fictious), that you have notified the hotel of the mistake, and it has been refunded to your card? Our general Manager is Ruth Prideaux, please feel free to contact us should you wish to discuss in further detail. Kind Regards,

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in June 2023. Check-in for our stay was simple & easy we arrived late so the 24-hour check-in was handy. We requested a late check-out on arrival, which we were happy to pay for; when we checked-in due to a delayed flight out of town and were told it was no issue. However, it was not put into the system and there was confusion on check-out day about it. Initially it looked as though it couldn't be honoured, but it was able to be accommodated in the end, which we were very grateful for. Our room was very clean and tidy on arrival and met out needs. My only issue was the toothpick/gum cleaner in the bathroom from the guest before. The beds were comfortable, and the A/C was great with cooling and heating. Breakfast was $25 for the hot buffet of bacon, scrambled eggs, chipolatas, savoury mince, baked beans, roast potatoes; waffles & pancakes; fruit buffet; yoghurts; cereal; pastries; break for toasting; juices & water was good value. The food was fresh and cooked well with great variety and presented well. The breakfast serving staff shared openly with guests (multiple) at arrival to breakfast their fatigue and stress at working split shifts and working functions and early starts. Breakfast staff appeared exhausted and disinterested at times. Parking is free and there were options of undercover and uncovered. We did not experience any issues with parking and were very grateful for the free-self parking.

Have just spent 5 days at Rydges Townsville apartments. Had booked with breakfast With written confirmation. Rydges hotel refused to accept. Stay are very rude asked to speak to manager on two occasions, told they were busy and would ring me which they did not. Apartments not cleaned very well, wifi is useless don't bother trying to watch a movie. Also don't try to cook anything in a pan smoke detector very close to stove and goes off constantly. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌
