We stayed at Mazeppa Bay self catering units for 5 days. The rooms were really untidy. Our shower was not working for the 4 days that we stayed there, they had to open up the room next door to us for usage of the showers. The toilets were not flushing - the maintenance guys came by everyday from the day we checked in. There were insects on the beds all the time... This fell from the thatch roofs. There were cockroaches in the room that we stayed in and lizards like you would not believe. We stayed in the 2 bedroomed self catering Shelley and my parents bed was drenched with water due to a leak in the thatch roof due to the rain. Thank God it rained on 1 day our of the 5 days stayed. My children were really uncomfortable. The hotel should be refunding some of our monies - we really didn't get value for money. We paid R2500 a night - rediculous amount to be paying for an a unit that really should be rated at 1 star.

After 37 years of not having been to Mazeppa Bay hotel i decided to re-visit it. Not as a resident but as a visitor. I had heard that the wife of the owner of the hotel could be quite difficult and had an bad attitude but never the less I decided to take a walk down memory lane. Wow was i in for a surprise - to say that the wife had a bad attitude is a gross under-statement. To cut a long story short i didn't pass go or in this cased the reception. Some people should just not be in the hospitality business. You would think that after what there industry had gone through with COVID that she would go out of her way to be courteous and try attract more business. As it was i only saw one other couple (poor people) staying at the hotel. Unfortunately no recommendation from me. Quite the opposite, as my friends and family etc. have been advised.

Location is superb. Hotel is well kept. Amenities are top notch. Beaches-Sublime. Fishing-world class. Rooms-brilliant! Staff-excellent. Price-great! Food-5course dinners. Braai area-fantastic. We had a DBB booked so we wanted to braai for lunch, staff prepared us a very, very lekker potato salad for our steaks. Loved it. Walks along the coast were indescribably beautiful. And relativeley flat. Quite easy in fact. All-in-all, fantastic! PS: Who the hell wants a TV when you are surrounded by all this beauty? For those internet addicts, there is VERY good LTE coverage. bring your own dongle.

We booked as a family to go to Mazeppa Bay. This was mainly organised or advised for us by Owen Richter of Wild Coast Angling Tours. Our hotel was the Mezeppa Bay Hotel. The hotel was comfortable, staff friendly & location was ideal. Meals were tasty & normal foods We went there mainly for the fishing which was a extremely fantastic experience. The weather was not ideal as east wind blowing but we did catch some very enjoyable eating fish. Shark fishing here is unbelievable although we did not try for them but witnessed big ones being caught & released. Owen Richter is a guide that I would certainly recommend & the Mezeppa Hotel was comfortable & fairly priced. Suggest that fisherman should always have a look at FB on W wildcoastangingtours. co.za or (Owen Richter). Thanks to all parties for their hospitality

Though the road to Mazeppa is a gravel road. The place is in rural areas. It is very quiet. The fault is just that the rooms do not have televisions except in the lounge and at bars. There is also rooms for self catering.

We stayed over for 2 days and although it rained virtually non-stop, it was a welcome relief to just chill and catch up with some reading! We did manage to get a walk along the beach and trekked over the bridge. I can just imagine that this venue would be heavenly when the sun shines. The beach is pristine and one can walk a good distance along the sandy shoreline. It is a hikers paradise. The hotel itself is old and quaint and for a fisherman's lodge is quite adequate. Should you make a trip to this part of the world you will find the gravel roads in a reasonable condition although the lack of sign posting will make you nervous. We had to keep on asking the locals to ensure that we were on the right road!
