This hotel has a small pool to cool off in and easy access to the beach. Simply decorated rooms with good bed and bathroom. Meals are simple but tasty. Within a short walk you reach a suspended bridge which at low tide can be walked over to enjoy the view from the little island.

One of the most magnificent beaches on the wild coast. Excellent surf swimming. Friendly relaxed family hotel Road to access is in bad condition so check before travelling to determine the best route Not recommended to travel in a sedan or small car. Arrangements can be made to be collected from East London Highly recommended

We stayed at Mazeppa Bay self catering units for 5 days. The rooms were really untidy. Our shower was not working for the 4 days that we stayed there, they had to open up the room next door to us for usage of the showers. The toilets were not flushing - the maintenance guys came by everyday from the day we checked in. There were insects on the beds all the time... This fell from the thatch roofs. There were cockroaches in the room that we stayed in and lizards like you would not believe. We stayed in the 2 bedroomed self catering Shelley and my parents bed was drenched with water due to a leak in the thatch roof due to the rain. Thank God it rained on 1 day our of the 5 days stayed. My children were really uncomfortable. The hotel should be refunding some of our monies - we really didn't get value for money. We paid R2500 a night - rediculous amount to be paying for an a unit that really should be rated at 1 star.

I stayed here on a Saturday evening with a group of friends after a gruelling off road biking day where we travelled 65km over rough terrain, I think I would have welcomed any hotel when we finally arrived but this was a very nice hotel. There is lots to do here for all the family with tennis courts and a nice pool by a very nice beach. We used the bar facilities extensively and also the restaurant where we were entertained by local singing and had a very nice meal (highly recommended). We met the managers (Husband and wife) and had a great stay. The rooms though quite basic were fine for the prices and the type of hotel and location. I would recommend the Wild coast to anyone for it's stunning views and this hotel.

It's a long drive on a dirt road with potholes and obstinate cows to get to Mazeppa Bay but worth the drive. At first glance it seems like a usual 3 star somewhat tired establishment but there are great positive points about the place that increases its appeal. The service with a smile is genuine and quick. We didn't like the family rooms in the middle..no privacy, with tired (but clean) bedding and tiny bathrooms. They kindly moved us to corner unit 1 which had one less bedroom (2 rooms instead of 3) but it was so worth sacrificing a room for privacy, an amazing bedroom upstairs with far better bedding and a lovely large bathroom with a jacuzzi bath.
The kitchen and Reg were amazing.. We have specific dietary requirements and Reg the chef came to us at every meal time to discuss what he was cooking for us for the next meal. Furthermore the meals prepared were wholesome, well prepared & quite tasty.
Mazeppa's location is meant for de stressing and relaxation. No TVs in rooms but a communal TV room for kids who need their fix! The beautiful beach is a short walk away with a memorable swing bridge to a small island. Fishing is a great pastime with all who visit. Locals are employed at the hotel & fishing guides are fantastic to help newcomers at a reasonable rate. There are plenty of beautiful hiking trails and some 4x4 trails for the more adventurous to some stunning wild untamed sea views.
The wonderful service with a smile and willingness to accommodate guests sets this place apart from all others... we had a wonderful 5 night stay.

This was our second stop on the Wild Coast Meander (a highly recommendable hike with stays at 5 hotels and porters to carry your overnight bags) and it was very enjoyable. It would have been nice to spend an extra day there with all the activities on offer - it has a tennis court, trampoline, volleyball net, and gorgeous pool overlooking the ocean. There is also a rocky island you can get to on a suspension bridge. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds very comfortable, and the food great. An all around pleasant hotel overlooking a gorgeous beach through dense tropical foliage. Bonus feature: The hotel cat, a very loving creature coming to visit and snuggling up against us as we were resting on the grass in front of our rooms after our day's hike.

The hotel is in a beautiful part of the country. Staff generally friendly and the hotel is very casual and relaxed. No stuffy rules to adhere to all the time. Don't over pack. you live in costume , shorts etc, No dress up for meals. Rooms very comfortable.
Management show some initiative. Vanessa should be more hands on as head of the management team. She never once came around the dining room to mingle with guests or even showed an interest in the guests or well being. Came across as unfriendly.
However whatever you asked for you got.
Meals were average and tasty however were repetitive. Salads always the same. Meals planning need lots of work and imagination. Try braais, hamburgers , rolls etc . Roasts all the time is not on. Lunches are not light when you serve hot mash and fatty chops on a hot day. Macaroni cheese twice. yuk. Robert you made a great effort to cater to our diet requirements. Thank you.
Not enough activities organised. (in peak season) you need a entertainment manager to break into the regular clicks and organise evening and daytime fun. (Without charging at every turn.) Fishing lessons etc. Also clean the beach of cows and poo in the morning. I saw this was started. Keep it up.
Generally a wonderful holiday and would definitely return.

We travelled to Mazeppa Bay from Morgan Bay by road. It is a distance of 84 km and takes about two hours. The road is potholed and dusty but suitable for use by sedan cars but preferably SUVs or light trucks. The trip is certainly worthwhile as the bay is great and the hotel is very good. We chose the self-catering option and were well-looked after by the friendly and efficient staff.
