Just reopened having been changed into apartments. Nicely furnished and well equipped for self catering. Easy access to piste with ski in / out. The staff have been very helpful and welcoming. We are already taking about coming back next season 👍😀

Can't help but feel that a recent review is being overly critical and exaggerating their experience. While there were some minor points for improvement it certainly doesn't deserve a low rating. We booked via Iglu Ski and didn't realise initially that this was a Neilson holiday, and would happily book directly with Neilson again.
The location is absolutely perfect, true ski-in/ski-out and a few minutes walk from bars/restaurants/shops.
The staff were all very kind (including the manager) and made an effort to speak to everyone, which I personally found quite refreshing compared to some other chalets we've stayed in.
Cleanliness was fine. Not perfect in the room (a little dusty under the beds and the drain in the bath was clearly a bit clogged) but communal spaces were very clean. The bedroom was big, warm and the beds were comfortable. Piste bashers did go by occasionally at night but they went by so fast it barely made us stir.
Food at dinner time was great; good variety and plenty. The wine at was also very good. Selection for breakfast was pretty basic but their fry-ups were good and you weren't going to starve. You did sometimes find that they were out of cups/cutlery/plates etc. but if you asked for more of something you'd get it. The system for serving tables seemed a bit disorganised and you were sometimes left with an empty glass or not having your order taken for a while. For lunches the hotel offered you a meal deal where you could order a baguette, crisps and chocolate bar the night before for €7 and pick up in the morning. Limited choice on crisps and chocolate but ideal of you're not very picky.
The boot room was big enough for all the guests but it didn't seem like all of the boot drying machines worked and weren't turned on unless a guest did it. Would have been nice to have a guarantee of dry boots the following day.
The overall organisation of the trip was fine. We had a bus changeover between the airport and resort and the reps managing this didn't really round people up very well so there could have been a more welcoming approach there.
Our experience was way better than other ski companies we've chosen and their chalets that we've stayed in. If you can forgive some of these very small points this hotel is great, in a very good resort.

Just returned from a week at this hotel with my hubby son and his girlfriend. We had a fabulous week, WiFi was fine, food was really good, always enough for us and always hot enough, if we wanted more bread or wine you just had to ask. Breakfast was cooked very well. If we
didnt like what was offered for dinner they were happy to offer something different. Staff were very friendly allways happy to help, even went out skiing with my son And husband on their day off,
husband and son joined in with one of the free ski sessions, and they had a great afternoon, rooms were clean and warm, great position right on the top of a blue slope which took you down to the main lifts. My only complaint was the transfer, totally Unorganised, which made the transfer longer than nessacary.

Wow, what a lovely week we have had on our first Neilson holiday in the Hotel Turquoise. The staff were all lovely from start to finish. Those we got to know were Danny, Lauren, Lucy, Bex, Fin, Ben, Sophie and Nick but we know there were others behind the scenes too. Thank you all for looking after us so well, chatting with us and attending to all of our needs with smiles on your faces. The food Nick cooked us all week was delicious. A couple of options covering a vegan diet and a meat diet. The cakes for afternoon tea were also divine. Making a choice was sometimes difficult and there was nothing for it but to have one of each. The scones were particularly good.
The hotel is a typical basic style chalet but the rooms were clean and spacious with plenty of room and fabulous views no matter which side of the building you are on.
The ski in and ski out is brilliant and again the hotel can be accessed from either side of the building. I’m a beginner skier and managed to ski in and out every day.
Mixing couples up to sit for dinner was great and our table of 4 soon became a table of 8. Being a fairly small hotel everyone gets to know each other and it was lovely to mingle and discuss our days over our afternoon tea, no matter what level of ski/boarder you are.
I have loved Belle Plagne as a resort. My ski lessons with Oxygene were brilliant and I would like to give Guillaume a particular shout out. Had lots of giggles with skiers of the same ability, some from the hotel too, which allowed friendships to be formed.
I really hope to return again next year, or has been fab.

I have skied for nearly 30 years now and used the Neilson Company for many
of these years. This holiday at the Turquoise Chalet Hotel at La Plagne, has been my best ever yet! I had such a great time. It was run by both Dan & Lauren who were so pleasant and so professional. Nothing was too much trouble and they always had time to chat and this added to the enjoyment of our stay. The other members of the Neilson staff were also extremely pleasant, I particularly want to thanks Joe and Bex who served on in the restaurant area, they were both lovely people and again nothing was too much trouble and even though they were very busy, they still had time to chat and ask how we were. Thank you. The food provided, (in with the cost of the holiday), was also exceptional. The quality
of the breakfast, afternoon tea and the evening dinner was 5 star quality and I have eaten at many 5 star establishments. The chef produced many traditional French dishes of an extremely high standard and should be congratulated. The food was outstanding! The Turquoise Hotel is situated ideally on the slope so you can ski in and out easily and the La Plagne resort is great. There are so many runs which suit all abilities and most of the runs are very wide and broad with some steep sections and lots of more flatter parts. I particularly enjoyed the Roche De Mio runs and loved the tunnel through the mountain section. The conditions were ideal, lost of snow and very sunny.
Thank you Neilson for a great time and again special thanks to Dan & Lauren x

Possibly the worst ski-ing hotel stay in 30 years of ski touring in Europe and America
The hotel was managed by a narcissist who was only interested in spending time with his family, who were visiting en masse for Christmas
The staff, whilst eager to please, were mostly incompetent when it came to understanding what’s required to provide a minimum level of acceptable service. It was obvious that they had been trained by script but had little or no experience of a hotel environment of an understanding of what customers need, want or expect
The standard of food was reasonable, but was mostly served cold, when it should have been hot. The Christmas Day meal was utterly forgettable, I expect a resident of HMP Wormwood Scrubs enjoyed better fare
When food ran out, it was not replaced. (croissants, bread etc)
If you deviated from the norm and asked for scrambled eggs instead of a full English breakfast you were served the portion of eggs you would have had with the full breakfast, utterly unbelievable!
Some observations made during the stay
The boot room access was dangerous. Narrow stairs leading to a tiled floor. I personally observed two people (wearing ski boots) fall heavily after slipping on the tiles.
There were never enough plates, spoons or cups. We had to use cereal bowls as plates (for toast)
When asked for a tea spoon (as they had run out) A member of staff handed over a dirty spoon from a half consumed bowl of cereal.
Broken glass left on the dining room floor
The wi-fi was rubbish . Not only that, it is described as ‘Nelson’ wi-fi when searching. That lack of attention to detail sums the place up nicely
“Wednesday is towel change day” we were told. We left the dirty towels in the bath, and they were re hung on the towel rail!
We missed out on the advertised ski guiding trips around the mountains ( one of the main reasons we booked). This was our fault (according to the rep), as we had arrived late in the resort ( due to the coach driver taking us to the wrong resort initially) and there were no places left
It was interesting to overhear two staff members discussing their performance reviews, whilst we were taking coffee. Perhaps the comments about the food were well deserved, snowflake
All in all it was a dated, rubbish hotel. Staffed by people who were going though the motions, but didn’t have a clue
Never again Neilson.

We have had a wonderful half term holiday at Chalet Hotel Turquoise.
The rooms are very cosy and comfortable with lovely views of the piste.
The hotel was full but didn’t feel over crowded.
The food was amazing. Every meal was different and there was a wide variety throughout the whole week
All staff were very friendly, genuine and helpful. It would be wrong to pick out one member of staff because I’m sure there were so many staff in the background that we never saw.
The location was incredible, from both front and back doors we were able to ski down to Bellecotte which was full of lifts to get to numerous mountains and slopes for all abilities.
Thank you Neilson.

Your team are excellent and I hope you look after them. The food is great and they try really hard.
However the hotel is grotty, tired and lacking. The beds are tiny and uncomfortable. I can’t wait to get home to get a decent sleep.
Your interconnecting room do not actually interconnect so I was miss sold there which made looking after the children much harder.
You have no one on reception so all room keys are unprotected.
The bathrooms and toilets are ridiculously small.
The boot room isn’t big enough for the number of guests in the hotel.
The facilities are rudimentary. Last year we stayed in Les Arcs for £3k less and had use of a bar with pool table and a pool and spa.
La Plagne is a joke. Half hour waits for the lift are pointless. The area has been totally over sold and under invested.
I have travelled with Neilson in the summer and had hoped that, given you started as a winter company, this would be as good as your summer holidays. I was very wrong. This has been an over priced and under delivering holiday. I will not use you again and will counsel friends to avoid you.

The Hotel Manager Danny and his team were fantastic, polite and helpful. The food delicious and we would certainly go again. The hotel itself is on a ski run 5 mins ski from the main lifts and 3 mins walk from the town centre itself. Everything is so easy for access.

Second visit to this hotel in 3 years. If you are looking for a convenient location, good food, warm environment and excellent friendly staff then you can’t go wrong here.
Lauren, Bex, Lucy and Finn were a few of the staff who we came to know. Excellent service, nothing too hard, friendly and polite.
Food was good, selection varied and requests for extra bread/wine always welcomed.
Afternoon cake and drink was a great addition.
Rooms were warm, clean and in good position.
Facility of ski in/out and convenience to ski lifts and shops/restaurants was excellent.
Transfer back to airport was a long trek. Not sure why we had to spend so much time waiting for other passengers pick up.
Will be back again.

Having been and come back I can confirm that the toiletries provided are lovely and definitely save on packing some from home.
We were here last new year they did a gala diner in the evening. The bar closed at 11.00 so the guests and staff could go down to belle cote for the firework display. See you in two weeks as we are returning for this new year also
The blue run down to belle cote is a bit narrow and steep to begin with but there is a green run opposite with a carpet lift that's excellent for beginners. The ski instructor took us from here and down a more gentle run missing out the steep section.
Yes there are a number of bars and restaurants near the hotel. We tended to eat and drink at Le Matafan at lunch times as it was easy to ski to and you could sit outside. Food was very good.
Prices in France during the skiing season will always be expensive, captive market!
Hairdryers yes. You don’t need tea and coffee in your room because there is unlimited free tea etc in the lounge
"Bring your own shower gel and shampoo. Towels are provided. Handwash was not provided. They do recycle but no boxes/bin in the room for it. "Read full review
