We stayed for one night and had a pleasant stay. This hotel is situated in a quaint village and the houses nearby are attractive. There was a lift to our room, which was in a separate part from the main building. They have 35 rooms. Our room was small but had most of what we needed. Strangely, we only had one towel for two people but I know I should have asked for an extra towel when I realised one was missing. We had not booked an evening meal but we were able to eat in the restaurant and enjoyed our meals. I had pork and my husband had steak. Both meals were hot and tasty. Breakfast was extra and was €7 per person. There was bread with a variety of cheese and some jam, plus coffee. We paid €45 for one night. There are 5 chalets and you can book one for €70 per night for 2-4 people. There is car parking outside the hotel. We would be happy to stay at this hotel again.

Oh, what a joy! We had an entire little bungalow to ourselves, with twin beds on the lower level and twin beds plus a chair that could open into a bed on the loft; a cathedral ceiling; a kitchen counter with sink in the main room, a shower and sink in the "bathroom", and the toilet alone in its "water closet"; an easy chair; a TV with many channels; windows along one wall, looking out onto apple trees and some garden, and a window in the back looking out onto the more formal garden. The price for a bungalow is so close to the price for a room, that the only reason I can think of for not choosing one is if you have trouble walking, because it is necessary to walk up a slight incline to get to the bungalows. And it is wonderfully quiet, with one definite exception: there is a rooster in the neighborhood who takes his duty very seriously. I, however, am a person who loves being awakened by a rooster rather than by trucks and cars or people arguing in another room. It lets me know that I am in the country, surrounded by apple trees and gardens.

Deep in the heart of the Alsace, you will find Merkwiller-Pechelbronn, and there you will find L'Etoile. Ann Marie and her husband run the place like a country inn but it is much much more. The history of the modern oil industry started around this town and the Etoile stands as a tribute to this. The hotel/restaurant is nothing fancy but it's the people that make it complete. Good solid Alsatian hospitality..... rooms are clean and functional and the food is served as a home cooked meal. I had the "Plat du Jour" everyday for 4 days and loved it. Served with local beer and wine, there was always a crowd of locals and visitors. I never wanted for a thing and will soon be back there again on business. Value for money? Excellent, but what would you expect from an establishment on Route de Worth!
