Mara Elatia Camp “The Good Neighbour” is a getaway camp located along the Oloololo escarpment facing the plains of the Mara Triangle, one of the conservancies in the Maasai Mara, National Park. The Mara triangle which comprises one-third of the entire Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the areas where the Great Migration herds enter and depart the Reserve from Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. The camp overlooks the Mara River which is famous for the annual wildebeest migration between the months of July and September and faces one of the three ‘Kalema Hills’ where the epic movie “Out of Africa” was filmed in 1985. The sophisticated tented- camp offers a relaxing breather experience in the wild only found at the escarpment. These include the amazing sight-seeing of the Mbuzi Mawe commonly known as Klipspringer from the comfort of your balcony. The Klipspringer is a dwarf antelope known for its remarkable jumping ability on rocky escarpments. Guests are also given a tour of the Rhino Sanctuary which has Seven White Rhinos at an extra cost

Just from a safari escape_inspection and without any bias, Mara Elatia is a perfect escape for a true safari seeker.
We received the warmest welcome from Elatia Team led by Johnty, the camp manager, the welcome drinks were well packaged and presented, the breathtaking view at the main area was also part of the welcome team.
Food was great and carefully prepared with a lot of variety to choose from, good service from waiter Kenny Rogers.
The Bar is well stocked, located beside a beautiful lounge with great service from Cleo.
All the luxury safari tents have a magical view of the plains from the top of Oloololo Escarpment, the service from the room stewards was exceptional, can't forget the clean comfortable beds with very quality mattresses and sparkling clean white linens.
There are so many activities to do here, a visit to the rhino sanctuary, farm tour, sundowner (with an out of this world location), bush meals, balloon safaris and the best part was the game drive in a luxury open sided 4x4 Land Cruiser (All the units are brand new) with the best guide ever Mr James Saitoti, he is really good at what he does, we managed to see all the big 5 in one half day game drive.
The property is in Mara Triangle which makes the game drives feel more private with less vehicles compared to the main reserve.
To conclude all this, I highly recommend the property, go and experience it for yourself!

This beautiful Tent Camp is not very large, and was nestled on a massive hillside that had expansive, sweeping and panoramic views of the Mara Triangle. The name derives from their local language, and aptly translates to “The Good Neighbor”.
Four of us (two couples) arrived at this Camp in the late afternoon after a game drive, and stayed for two nights in the Family Tent. What an incredibly memorable stay we had…!
We were greeted warmly with wet towels and a cold soft drink. After check-in, we were informed about all the rules and safety protocols. We were taken to our double tent with a center sitting room and a large balcony. They showed us where everything was – including a walkie-talkie to call the security personnel from 7 PM to 7 AM. Under no circumstances would we be allowed to wander outside alone in the dark. We felt reassured by all these precautions – we were in the wilderness after all, where the wild animals roamed.
We are city people with not too much experience of camping. These tents were luxurious, and strategically placed for maximum privacy. They were equipped with all the modern amenities of a five-star hotel room – comfortable beds with electric blankets, nice amenities in the tiled bathroom with adequate hot water gushing out at the perfect pressure. All that exceeded our expectations, and we felt safe in spite of the animal sounds outside at night.
Our first night’s dinner was a “Butler” assisted one. It consisted of three courses, and every dish from the starter Soup to the Dessert was delicious, plus plated and presented perfectly. The second night was a Buffet, and again, everything was mouth- wateringly displayed, and devoured with the same gusto. The Camp Fire was cozy and inviting. Breakfast on both mornings was healthy and provided a good start to our day.
Every Staff Member was exceeding warm, friendly and hospitable. They were all genuine in their willingness to make us comfortable and happy at each step. A special “THANK YOU” (Ahsante Sana) to Collins at the Restaurant, Leah – our housekeeper, Titus at the Bar, and Ladamo Jon – our security guy who walked us back and forth from our tent.
Before leaving on the second day, they asked us to stay for a hot lunch, since we had missed ours on the first day. We opted not to go on another game drive, and had the morning off. So, Chef Donosian showed us around in their amazing and self-sufficient fruit and vegetable garden. It had everything from papayas, and vegetables to spices. With all the fresh stuff from there, is it any wonder that they are able to come up with healthy and gourmet meal options? We were certainly impressed.
Our stay was undoubtedly memorable. I would like to take the opportunity through this review to whole-heartedly recommend this Camp to future visitors.

If I could give it more than a five star rating I would! Jessica, Collins, Amos, and all the staff are very accommodating, friendly, and made you feel at home! High end tent camp that felt like you were in a hotel with all the hotel benefits. Hot water, toiletries even a safe in the tent. There was bottled water in the main room and the bathroom area for brushing teeth/drinking. Mara Elatia is located close to the triangle in the Maissa Mara so a great location. It was a 3hr drive from Narok on a mostly dirt bumpy road but well worth the drive. You could easily take a quick airplane ride to many of the close by small airports. We chose to drive to see the countryside on our way. They even offer large family tents that have large sitting areas in between the two main bedroom tents. All the food we had was fabulous and even the pack food they provided for game drives wellwell exceeded our expectation. Large variety of items were packed including a blanket in a basket plus bottled water, juices, and hot coffee/tea/chocolate. We look forward to our next trip to Mara Elatia.

A fantastic level of service and Collin’s as our full time staff and Esiah at the bar were always there to ensure we were having the best experience. The view of the Serengeti plains below was amazing and at night the sound of the river flowing from tent 3 was peaceful. This is glamping at its finest. Food in the restaurant was inconsistent but we had some very delicious meals. We had thunderstorms which added to the experience. We are in our 60s and in ok health but I wouldn’t recommend for older or less healthy folks because it is at elevation and smooth walk paths do go up and down and if your tent isn’t close to the entrance there’s some walking to be done. You can see that the camp has been made wheelchair accessible with ramps in every part of the camp. During Migration this is probably one of the best places to stay, but it’ll be pricey.

Stayed at Mara Elatia for 2 nights during the end of May with my wife. Bookings were assisted by Terry who was very helpful and patient throughout the process. Our reservations got moved here after Mara explorer camp was impacted by floods and i think it happened for the good as we got to explore the much calmer, private and better managed Mara triangle area. This is a relatively new property and the tents are huge and modern. It is on the edge of the Mara triangle on a hill and offers great views of the plains below from the reception, restaurant and the room decks. Ezekiel was assigned to us for the game drives and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. Amongst other regular sightings, we spotted lions mating and a black rhino with a calf. Food was great too. They had vegetarian options for each meal and I specially liked the A la carte menu and the table service. We also opted for a sundowner which was set up on the top of the hill away from the property and was beautiful and they were thoughtful to make samosas and fritters for us. Would also recommend visiting the white rhino sanctuary where a ranger accompanies you and their cattle farm nearby. 7 white rhinos have been brought to this sanctuary for breeding and are heavily guarded by rangers. This property is unfenced and is regularly visited by wild animals. dont be surprised if you hear hyenas when you are having your meals or if you see cape buffalos while walking to your room. We found large herds of zebras, impalas, giraffes etc right next to the property. Ask for a room closer to the reception if you have trouble walking. They have security escorting you to the room and back when it is dark but best to scan your surroundings for wildlife even during the daytime before walking in and around the property . Overall, this was a great and adventurous stay. Highly recommended.

Due to flooding of Mara Intrepids we were relocated to Mara Elatia, we were initially sceptical but it exceeded all our expectations! The camp sits above the park with beautiful panoramic views of the Masai Mara. Pictures do not do the camp justice at all, it has a lovely veranda area for meals including a fire pit area for the evening. At only 16 tents the camp feels intimate. Each tent has its own balcony looking across the Mara. The tent had everything we needed, very clean with comfortable beds and electric blankets to keep you warm at night. En-suite bathroom had a shower with plenty of hot water and fantastic water pressure!
The staff really do go above and beyond here, thank you in particular to Collins and Titus during meals and drink times! They also surprised us with a lovely sundowner on our last night.
Our safari guide was Kelvin, he made it his mission for us to have the best time and he succeeded! Kelvin took us all around the Mara triangle spotting the big 5 and many many more! He has a passion for the animals and his job and it really makes a difference!
Cannot wait to return again!

It was a Perfect experience staying at Mara Elatia. Words can’t not describe the beauty and surrounding of the place.
The Camp is located along the Oloololo escarpment facing the Mara Triangle and the game drive is done within the Triangle itself which is amazing for spotting all the game.
Mr. Johnty (Camp Manager) and the team served us with great hospitality.
Tent locations are built in such a way that you wake up to stunning sunrises and sunsets with breathtaking views of the vast park not forgetting the bed and pillows were very comfortable to sink into after a long productive day. The washroom and bathroom are well maintained too.
Food was scrumptious and their menu had options as per optional dietary requirements. The bar is well stocked up with a variety of Mocktails and Cocktails to select from.
I would highly recommend the Game Package. They have an open Luxury Landcruiser, with outstanding drivers, one being Mr. J Saitoti you can never go wrong with him.
The only thing i would like to pinpoint is there are no activities for children or even a swimming pool.
Nevertheless, I would highly recommend Mara Elatia.
