BEST WESTERN Chilworth Manor Hotel lies just 4 miles from Southampton, amongst 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. Right next door to a conservation area, this wonderful retreat is worlds away, but not far away, from the city centre. An Edwardian Manor house, the hotel is an ideal place to get away from it all and is particularly peaceful for romantic breaks! Though close to Southampton city centre and port, and the transport links that take you there, we think you'll find more than enough to keep you occupied here at the hotel. We chose to stay out of town for our pre cruise stay last month, at Chilworth Manor, and was not disappointed.
Check in was extremely friendly and welcoming. Great room overlooking the terrace and gardens. We had a suite so there was plenty of room. Lovely comfy bed, bay window

We had high hopes for Chilworth Manor after viewing the huge wood paneled bar and reception area on the hotel's website, and reading about its setting in 15 acres of countryside. The interior lived up to the photo, the restaurant was good value, and the 16 metre indoor pool the b

Good location and standard of hotel for short or medium stay or weekend break. Facilities are good especially the fitness center, although this is not directly attached. Car parking can be an issue especially when conferences or special events are being held .

Really pleased with the hotel in general and will be back again. Car park was packed but that goes with Xmas time and parties. Gym / pool is a short walk from the hotel so would recommend trackies and trainers to be packed.

Six people booked for a pre Xmas lunch in early December. Having been before and been relatively happy we were totally surprised at how bad it was. There was no atmosphere in the room, no music, and the meal was very poor. The crayfish salad had too much Marie Rose sauce, the

Dear MarmiteHampshire_UK I am sorry to see that you were disappointed following your recent visit for a Christmas lunch, we have been receiving some very positive feedback from the many guests who have been celebrating Christmas with us this December and I am truly sorry to see that your experience fell short of expectation. I would welcome the opportunity of discussing this with you personally so that we may have the opportunity of restoring your faith, to this end please do contact me directly here at the hotel on gm@chilworth-manor.co.uk. Does the manor cater for private functions e.g: a christening reception? Do any of the rooms open up onto outside space and are they dated/corporate inside or quite pleasant?
They have weddings and rooms open outside into gardens

I’m thinking of booking this hotel for a night away with my wife. Is it far from Southampton city centre to go out for a few drinks and how much would a taxi cost?
Hello I drove in to Southampton from the hotel and it took around 16-20 minutes. I think I would get a hotel nearer the town if you want to have a drink there. The hotel has a bar and an excellent restaurant.

We’re going to be there in August for a week before cruising from Southampton. I’m wondering if we can see a lot without renting a car. I’m thinking of going to Winchester, Salisbury, the downs etc. we have used the bus and train from Brighton and don’t have a problem with using them again. We are travelling from Canada.
Hi, We live two miles from Chilworth Manor it is ideal if you rent a car. To get into Southampton the bus passes the hotel entrance but is not very frequent, to get to any other place you will need two or more bus routes. To go to Winchester you can do this with one bus, but about one and a half mile walk to the bus stop. You will waste a lot of time waiting for each bus. Trains go from Southampton but you need the bus to Southampton, not really any advantage. Lots to see in the area, Winchester should be first on your list, about nine miles from hotel, easy with a car. Enjoy your stay.

I'm thinking of booking this hotel for a overnight stay for a cheaper weekend away, what are the grounds like? Would you like to come stay here? And is it worth booking the restaurant rather then leaving the grounds for dinner?
Room was good, very clean and comfortable! However the restaurant is poor! Over priced! And not at all to be recommended! I should have guessed by how empty it was on a busy weekend when the hotel was full! Go out to eat. Grounds are lovely and yhe pool is ok!

How close is it to city cruise terminal
But watch as there’s are always road closures and road works, lots of traffic and so set of early, leave plenty of time to get to cruise terminal.....

"Room 119 good choice"
"Room 1 is split level and very spacious"
"Rooms in the old building are nicer than the extension which are the higher numbers."
"There are only 23 rooms in the actual Manor House, others are in the extension. I would think the rooms with a garden view would be nice."
