Looking for accommodation in Cape Town during an Australia-SA cricket test was never going to be easy- especially trying to do so while away from home, on tour and using a phone badly in need of recharging. However, we found Oakvale Lodge on the web and made contact with Dalene, explaining that we required two rooms: one for our teenage daughter and the other for her parents. Dalene had only a single room available, but offered the use of a sleeper couch. More importantly, she was prepared to hold the reservation until we were able to confirm the arrangement. Despite the great demand for rooms in the Southern Suburbs over that time, Dalene was as good as her word. We were able to confirm the booking upon our return home and met Dalene and Peter a few days later in Rondebosch.

We stayed at Oakvale Lodge for a week, having chosen the location primarily due to its proximity to Newlands Cricket Ground. There was a test match going on!. The location was ideal, being a pleasant 25 minute stroll away from the ground, negating the need for taxis which was just as well as roads close to Newlands were closed during the game. The house is great, and we were particularly pleased with our accommodation - the garden room. The owners were away on holiday during our stay, but the "house sitters" Clive & Marlene looked after us really well and entertained us with their anecdotal African knowledge. The house is in a very quiet residential neighborhood - a real oasis with a great garden and pool. Although a little remote from bars and restaurants, local taxis were

We are an NGO in Cape Town and are extremely impressed with the service provided by Dalene du Plessis. She was efficient and went out of her way to accommodate our guest at short notice. She also assisted me with alternative accommodation. Impressive service. Thank you! Vanessa Franks

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights recently at Oakvale Lodge in the Acorn Room. We were very impressed with our room and en-suite bathroom which were very clean and comfortable. Dalene made us very welcome and produced the most delicious breakfasts every morning. The fresh fruit was exceptional and beautifully presented. Our room also included a Fridge,Toaster and Microwave, also tea and coffee making facilities. The heater and electric blankets were also very welcome for the chilly Cape nights. TV viewing was rather difficult unless you were in bed, a swivel bracket would sort this out! Rondebosch is great for easy access to all parts of Cape Town and Oakvale Lodge is a few minutes drive to Restaurants and Shopping Malls.

I spent a week at Oakvale when I was in Cape Town on business. Dalene, the owner is a lovely lady who will remind you of an aunt who wants to feed you. The room I stayed in, the Acorn Room, as clean and well maintained. There is ample space, including a desk for one to do work (as I needed). Their mini kitchen station was also very useful with a few dishes, knives, forks, a kettle, toaster and a mini fridge. I also appreciated the WiFi internet which is available to guests. The breakfast was delicious and generous. I appreciated the fruit Dalene gave me each morning as I am often guilty of eating badly when travelling for work. Overall, it was a lovely stay at a great guesthouse. I would recommend it to anyone travelling on business, as well as leisure travelers.
