We stayed at this resort on 23 Dec, 26-28 Dec 05 when we were doing a liveaboard diving trip.

Location
The biggest drawback with this resort is it’s location - which is really quite far away from any beaches, Patong area, Phuket town and lacks other dining alternatives. The resort’s surrounding area is not appealing – consisting of unused plots of land, padi fields and resembles the countryside. However, my wife and I liked waking up to chirping birds in the morning and watching buffalos graze in the nearby fields.

Nearby Place of interest
Every Tuesday and Friday (4.30pm to 10pm), there is a local open-air market on the compounds of a Buddhist temple nearby. It is a 15-20 mins walk (turn right after the main gate) along the main road outside the resort. This road will lead to a small town (which you passed by from the airport). Turn right at the first traffic light and you will see the entrance or at least smell the BBQ. At this colourful market, you will get all sorts of local food and fare – this is where the locals come and we were lucky to chance upon it.

Transportation
The resort has shuttle bus services to Laguna Beach which is free with 3 departures/return daily, Patong Beach (400 Baht per person for a return trip, 3 trips a day) and Phuket Town (350 Baht per person for a return trip, 3 trips a day). If you miss the transfer back at the specified times, you have to return using local taxis. I did not fing the cost, frequency and timings of these shuttles ideal. We did not use any of these but through a local contact, we hired a car with driver for a full day (11am to 9pm) for 1,100 Baht. We went shopping at Phuket Town and Patong and had dinner at Chalong Bay.

Rooms
Rooms are new, clean and tastefully decorated. Fixtures are new, the aircon worked very well. The furniture is made of solid wood. Some rooms do not have bathtubs or balconies though. All rooms come with fridge. For families, there are bigger suites that are very nice indeed. As the resort is relatively new, there could be a few problems here and there. In our room, the shower spray did not work very well and plunger on the basin was missing.

Facilities
There is a smallish gym in a separate standalone hut and a pool but we did not use this.

Spa
We did not try the spa either as there are much cheaper and more options available in Patong.

Service
Cannot flaw the Thai people for their friendliness and service level. They were all very helpful and served with a smile so long as they understand what you are requesting. Some could understand English better than other. When we were there, the resort was well occupied and the reception tends to be the busiest. You just need to remind the staff about your request if they get busy.

We were upgraded to a suite after we told the front desk that we needed a bathtub and balcony to wash and dry our diving gear.

While checking out, we overheard a customer complaining about not having hot water for shower 2 days in room 205 and not being able to get any food from the restaurant at 9.30pm.

Food
Food at the resort’s restaurant was only average. For dinner, the green curry chicken was bland but the steam river prawns and Tom Yam soup were tasty. The wine (2 glasses of house red) is expensive. For the same price (1500 Baht) at Chalong Bay the next night, we had steamed whole grouper, steamed prawns, BBQ squid, Thai salad, vege dish, Tom Yam Kung and a bottle of red.

Airport Transfers
The resort’s relatively new Mercedes mini-vans with leather seats were very comfortable for the 15 min ride to the airport.

Internal water features
The resort built a moat around its premises and there is a large central pond where the restaurant is located. The water tends to be still and on warm days, there is really a stench. Don’t really have a problem with mosquitos there but I am not as sensitive to bugs as others may be.

Conclusion
Stay here for the nice rooms, peace and quiet. Provided the resort continue to offer the unbeatable on-line promotions and you have a cost effective transportation alternatives.

The resort had changed names in late 2006 from the Pacific International, to “At Panta Phuket”. At the time of booking we got a very reasonable rate of UK£66 per night for what was described as a “poolside villa”.

We chose this hotel as we had a late arrival into Phuket International, and wanted a relatively quick taxi ride. Although you can get hotel buses, these were not evident, so we got a meter taxi, booked at the airport desk (walk 500 yds right as you exit terminal). They quoted us 250 Baht, which included airport taxes. The ride takes 30 mins max, and if at any time, using the word “Panta” draws a blank expression, then try “Pacific”.

Should you be making your own way there, take the 402 main road for about 12k, then take a right turn onto the 4030 at Thalang. The Panta is about 2 km down this road on the left. On that note, be aware that the Panta is situated amongst the fields of water buffalo, and nowhere near the beaches of Phuket. Ideal if you want a quiet location, but not if you are after the vibrancy of the beach life.

The check-in was efficient, and I believe the extra for the poolside villa was well worth it; the room was very clean, well furnished, with the TV showing most international channels, and the a/c quite adequate. If I have to find fault, then the bed was a little hard.

The other room option, being a standard room, would have put you in a new two storey block, located away from the pool area. As the hotel only has one pool & pool bar, the villas do put you closer to “the action”.

There was some publicity about a gondola ride from the reception to your room; this simply wasn’t operating, and if it was, I suggest its more a gimmick than being of any real worth, the rooms being very close to reception!.

The pool and grounds were very well kept, and the canals that meander through the resort were kept clean. The swim-up bar prices were typically “hotel”, where service & tax is added on afterwards, but by Western standards, quite reasonable. Our rate included breakfast, which was taken on the pier overlooking the canals; one day we had to order off the menu, the next was a buffet. I can only put this down to variations in occupancy level.

As the resort is somewhat in the middle of the island, the hotel does offer a courtesy bus to both a local beach, and Patong beach. Its free during the day, but a charge is payable for the evening trips. We chose to rent a 125cc scooter by walking about 500 yds to the right once you leave the hotel main gate. The bikes were good quality, and cost 300 Baht/day, however I would only advise this if you have ridden before, as the Thai driving style is rather haphazard, and if you compound this with learning to ride, an accident is highly likely.

One advantage of the location is that you are much closer to Ao Po pier, being the departure point for the ferrys & boats to Phang Na Bay (James Bond Island etc). Although you can get a cheaper ride by going on a large boat, we rode to Ao Po and chartered a local long tail boat for the day (3500 Baht), which while a costlier option, we did get a very personal tour, including access to some hidden caves and lagoons that no larger boat could get into.

We would very much recommend the At Panta Phuket providing you were not after the beach life and excitement of the typical western shore beaches. The resort and staff were excellent, and the location made an excellent retreat. I was also impressed with the free WiFi around the pool, which allowed me to write this “on location”.

The Resort itself is pretty good the biggest problem is being too far from everything. There are no restaurants within walking distance so it is a 300-400 baht ($10-$15aus)cab ride each way.The resort does have shuttles but very few ( 3 a day). This may be getting better as while we were there we and many other guests complained to management about it .But it was a problem .The staff were great always smiling.Breakfast was good but aftera few days you needed a change, more variety is needed. There is no canal boat ride as the brochers say.All in all it was quite relaxing stay but next time we would stay closer to civilisation i.e restaurants and beaches.

I ended up staying here after the dates of my diving trip changed at the last minute. It is a brand new hotel about 3-4 km from Bang Tao beach set in a very quiet area. The grounds are immaculate with a beautiful garden set around a network of canals and ponds. As it is a smaller hotel the attention to detail and service were excellent. The pool is lovely (large, clean) with a smaller childrens pool attatched. There is a swim up bar and ample pool chairs. The most expensive rooms are the poolside villas, individial rooms set in the gardens around the pool with large beds, TV and mosquito nets. There are other villas away from the pool and then the cheapest rooms are set in a group on the far side of the grounds (not very far away though). All the rooms have a bath and shower and air-con. The extras are impressive - lovely buffet breakfast, 24 hour room service, onsite spa as well as 3 free beach shuttles per day. There is also free internet access and the staff were lovely and very helpful.
If you are looking for a quiet place to relax which is not far from the excitement, this is a good place to stay. Taxi to Patong for dinner only cost 300Bht each way. As it is a new hotel, some very good deals are available online. The hotel website has some good photos if you want to have a better look.

Just recently became a member so my review for At Panta is late but I still hope it serves as useful.

Stayed for seven days in a traditional Thai villa and as you can see from my ratings, this is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Many are turned off by the fact that the resort is far from anything worth seeing. But this adds to the resorts charm. After spending a day in stifling heat, hectic and crowded markets, and the polluted streets of Patong at night, coming home to this place will seem like paradise.

Here are some of my tips for Phuket:

-Book your day trips and tours through the resort. Although it’s more expensive, the cheaper tours you find on the street are often tourist traps. For example, with the resort tour you’ll be able to spend four hours on Phi Phi Island but with a cheaper tour, you’ll only spend an hour on Phi Phi Island and the rest of your time will be spent in jewelry stores.

-Hire a driver. It’s only about 2000 baht a day, and is the best means of getting around Phuket. For that price, you’ll have the driver for the whole day and night and you’ll get to places in comfort. Tuk tuk’s aren’t that cheap, the drivers will always try to rip you off and the ride itself is uncomfortable. To get the best price for one, just ask the ladies at reception if they know anyone PERSONALLY who would drive you.

-Visit a supermarket to buy food to store in your fridge for late night snacking. It’s cheap but more importantly its FUN discovering and trying the different kinds of foods available.

-Finally eat at the Phuket Bay Restaurant. It’s where the locals eat when they want seafood and most drivers know how to get there. When in Patong, eat at one of the seafood restaurants by the beach.

If u want peace in Phuket?.....This is the only hotel that provides the peaceful and quiet environment. The moment my family step in the lobby......we feel that we are back to early 1900's. The Lobby is facing a pond with waterfall. The coffee house located besides the pond. In fact, my son feed the fish while having breakfast, which we never experience before. The staff service was excellent. We were given breakfast on the day we check in....i don't think any other hotel will give you this kind of extras.
The room was new and in tip top condition. Everything that the 5 stars hotel provides you....you get it here.
Just imagine this ....you owned this resort. Why?....well, very seldom u will get to face to face another hotel guest. Maybe, during breakfast....and 3 or 4 tables occupied at anytime. I guest the hotel did not engage with tour groups.
Housekeeping.....they really did a fantastic job. I personally tips them. The room is always cleaned before noon.
Security....5 stars. Main gate is guarded 24 hr. And they do checks around the clock.
The setback?....well as any other guests had mentioned.....the out of no where location. I think they built this hotel in the middle of a paddy field.....because the buffullos are around the corner. That adds to the serenity of the place. I bet you that you can't get this kind of scenery at any other hotels.
To resolve the transport problem......what i did is pretty simple. I rent a Honda Jazz from Andaman Car Rental for 1200baht/day. You can pick up the car at the airport upon arrival and return it before depart from airport. With the car......you can travel around at your own time and pace. So the hotel location is no longer a problem!
Phuket roads is easy to around.
In fact, i paid for 1299baht nett for deluxe room per night. I managed to get this offer from (-). This hotel is too good to be miss......maybe in future, the hotel business picks up, then the peaceful environment and scenery will deteriorate.
My family will stay at this hotel again...for sure and for peace!
If anyone of you needs further details.....by all means email to me at hpngpatrick88@yahoo.com.sg. Thanks Tripadvisor.

I stay in At Panta 4 nights last month, I have to say it's a horrible hotel.

I don't understanding why the hotel charge us twin bed room fee but only one key to us? On the first night, I come back hotel earlier than my friend. I disappotingly find that I can not come back my room since the hotel don't have backup key. When I complan to thier manager and got rediculous reply, he said this is not only my question , many other clients have same question as mine. So I have to overcome it by myself. I am comfusing why they don't deal with this problem when the first client complan it and allowed it happend again and again? At last, I wait in the lobby for 2 hours until my friend come back.

It is an nightmare on second night, when I come back, I find tens of thousands of twatermite in the corridor. When I open the door, at least 100 termite in my room. I have to take a shower in the dark, beacause many termite into my room through crak if they find any light. My other 2 friends find there is a big frog in their room.

My room's aircondition goes wrong. I head "di da di da" on first night,So I go to the recepition to ask repairt it. However, it become more seriours after that, finally it becomes wartfall on last 2 nights. I don't want to complan again, sicne no body care me. I sleep with my friend in one single bed, becuase another bed is too close to "waterfall".

The location of the hotel is also terriable. I feel very happy when check out becuase I know I will never come back.

I stayed in a pool villa here for a month so my review is well balanced after seeing guests come and go in the Month of December. I saw the resort full and not so.

Firstly, the resort is not on the beach but then I would not say it is off the beaten track as it is right within walking distance of the Thalang intersection. From here, you can get everywhere in Phuket. The resort also offers a shuttle to the beach and surin beach at that which is the best in the area, lots of restaurants and a great beach club called Catch.

The Resort is well laid out, spacious but intimate in style. The pool villas are wonderful, you really feel like you are in Thailand as opposed to a regular hotel room in the countless of other resorts around. They are luxurious with a huge bed, wonderful architecture with high wooden ceilings and a fine bathroom attached with hot water.

They are serviced to a high standard.

The pool is great, very spacious with a swim up bar complete with a happy hour.

The restaurant is really quite good. It is of course Thai food with a small selection of international food. Breakfast is an adequate fresh buffet.
Room service is also available.

There are 2 computers in the lobby area which are free to use which is very handy. Also there is free wi-fi around the pool so if you check into a pool villa, take your tablet or laptop and you'll be online. Speed is fine.

There is a small bar with a pool table and any day trips you would like to book are easily accomplished from the resort.

There is a small spa on site but to be honest I did not use it as I found it a little expensive compared with what is around and it didn't look too great, it might be though, I just didn't try it.

My advice is that with the money you will save staying at this resort, you could afford to rent a car for your stay, the resort can arrange this for a very acceptable fee. You will then find yourself free to explore and this resort is in exactly the right position on the island to explore. Patong , one way is 45 mins. Phuket Town the other way is around 30 mins, airport is around 20 mins. It is very central compared with other locations.

Driving is fun as long as you drive confidently. In Thailand they drive on the left as in the UK and to fill up your car will cost you around 1,200 baht only. As long as you have first class insurance which most companies include for free your all set. don't worry about the excess as it is nothing. Just rent the car, check it's got 1st class insurance and your away.

So, all in all I had a thoroughly nice stay at At Panta, the staff were really friendly, nothing was too much. It was clean, the villa was really lovely, just steps from the pool. Nothing woke me up in the morning or at night and the location ended up being brilliant with a car.

If you want the real Thai experience in a relaxing ambient setting then this is for you.

At Panta is beatiful, its also great to be away from the "touristy" places. There are temples just around the corner. It is a bit out of the way but, if you turn right on the road and walk 10 minutes you'll get to Thalang's centre which has food shops, motorbike hire and fast internet that is A LOT cheaper than at At Panta. They rip you off there for sure. They actually charged me twice for my room (i've since got a refund) so make sure you check your bank statement after! The beds are very hard (thai style) but you get used to them. Having a farm next door was great too.

I highly recommend hiring a motorbike/scooter. Once you get used to the choas its actually a fun and cheap way of seeing phuket. We went to a pub with a band singing in Thai, nobody spoke english and we don't speak Thai, it was the best night we had we had so much fun hanging with the locals and they made us feel very welcome!

Its a beauiful, "Thai style" hotel, the free breakfast is good. But I do recommend eating, drinking, and using internet elsewhere to save money if you feel the need. But it is Thailand so in the scheme of things it really doesn't cost that much, its just more expensive than Patong hotels, however it is more genuine and peaceful...esp after coming back from an evening out in Patong!

I stayed at the At Panta just before it changed management from Pacific International where I would assume from previous reviews, the international standards were more stringent.

The At Panta's layout is set about a picturesque traditional lakeside Thai villiage complete with tropical flora, vines & vibrant water plants. There are exotic water features, fountains & quite possibly over 100 brown Koi or some sort of fresh water trout that reside in the lake that can be fed with packs of pellets from the staff. The design is quite unique & offers something a little different from your standard accomidation.

The main lake/lagoon resembles the Chinese Gardens lake in Sydney & gives the hotel a tranquil zen-like feel. The grounds are peacefully quite with most noise being made by the sound of running water from a number of various sources. Many reviews have mentioned previously that the distance of the At Panta as being a fault but this is more of a luxery than not on Phuket Island, as it is far from the seedy red lights & blarring loud go-go bar music of Patong beach & makes for a much more civil atmosphere.

The former Pacific International obviously chose such a site for its distance from Patong beach rather than trying to compete with faceless establishments that offer much the same thing. The beaches near At Panta are more suited to the less 'chaotic' crowd, after all, Pacific International did name this hotel the Pacific International Resort & Spa & had catered to a different clientel interested in relaxation.

I had arrived here via an airport transfer service which was painless from the start. To be greeted & ushered into a leather seated Merc van & had ansered every question that was asked.

The staff at the Pacific prided themselves on top class service & the Pacific here were well regarded as such. From the 24hr security guards at the manned-gate to the door usher who greets you at the bottom of the stairs leading to the main reception, sadly this may have changed due to new management.

The food at the restuarant was a little pricey but it is the quality & value that patrons should be looking at & not simply price as there are possibly hundreds of cheap eateries on Phuket who can cater to tighter budgets. With this in mind, the food was excellant & any requests to the kitchen were done so without incident.

Overall, I would struggle to fault the former Pacific International. I am dissapointed to hear that possibly its standards have dropped & the staff dispersed. On the whole, i would thoroughly recommend the At Panta for its beautiful atmosphere & distance from the undeserible charateristics of Patong Beach.
