Without a doubt, this is one of the best Marriott properties I have visited. It is a beautiful property surrounded by such natural beauty, and my friends and I enjoyed every minute. Each staff member we encountered was gracious and accommodating, and we even received a personal thank you note from Theresa and Alexandra for staying at the Inn. We booked a two-room suite which included three beds, two full baths, a fireplace, full kitchen, and best, of all, a lake view. The beds were extremely comfortable, the rooms were very clean and the nights were quiet. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet each morning. It is a large property but felt quaint and inviting. We did not have an opportunity to enjoy the spa or restaurant, but they both looked amazing. I cannot recommend the Inn enough.

My family and I stayed at the Inn at Bay Harbor for a week, and we enjoyed our stay. We found the front desk staff to be amicable and accommodating. I want to single out P? (Paula?), Jo, and Shelly, who always welcomed our family with a smile and wave. Bryan from the bell staff was a star and greeted us whenever we walked by.
The breakfast buffet was great, and the omelet station was a nice touch. There was plenty to choose from, but on the 4th day, the selection became old. I wish they rotated 2-3 additional choices rather than the 1. The breakfast staff was also friendly and very quick.
We didn't care much for Vintage. The service was slower, they seldom picked up the phone, and the food was overpriced. The burger and french onion soup were highlights.
We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a kitchen. We didn't have lake views, but we would instead take the quietness the quarry view provided with a baby. The kitchen was excellent so that we could store milk, snacks, etc.
We only requested housekeeping once during our 6-night stay, and we found it to be adequate. During COVID times, we appreciate a quick clean, and a more thorough cleaning can wait till we leave. If you spend any time in Bay Harbor, Petosky, Harbor Springs, etc., you'll see everyone is hiring, so it doesn't surprise us that the hotel outsources part of their housekeeping.
Everyone on staff wore masks, and the hotel recommended them for guests, though we rarely saw any guests voluntarily wearing them. The grounds were kept clean, and the hammocks, lawn games, and pool area were fun activities for the family.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Even with awful weather the Inn at Bay Harbor was warm, welcoming and wonderful. The staff was competent and friendly, the Grand King room had: a balcony and nice view of the water/grounds, a king, a fireplace and a kitchenette. The valet system (no charge) was quick, convenient and efficient. A wonderful breakfast was also included in the room rate. Special effort was gracefully on display throughout the Inn. It was especially evident with food. Even fresh baked welcome cookies included a gluten free option, our room had chocolate cherries from Kilwins with an offer to schedule a tour, breakfast was wonderful for most every diet: It included sugar free and vegan options and an omelette station that could easily handle egg white only and severe allergy guests. Well done to the entire staff, impressive. For sure we'll return next time we are in the area. (Note:This beautiful Inn is only about 5 minutes from Petosky).

Overall, this is a solid option if you’re looking for a resort feel in northern Michigan.
That being said, I would not pay peak prices to stay here. The rooms are on the verge of being outdated, the pool facility is not equipped to handle the inundation of families on the weekends, and the food is exorbitantly overpriced. For example, while breakfast was “included” in our rate, it would have cost $35/person. Vintage Chophouse (onsite restaurant) was decent, I think the service was great. Would recommend Nomad in Bay Harbor proper, though, for better food options. On service, I think the front desk and restaurant staff were lovely, but for $1K+ per night, you should have some form of poolside service.
Now for positives, I really loved the daybeds on the beach + the grounds are well maintained. As with most beaches in this part of the state, it’s pretty rocky, but a beautiful view nonetheless.

My husband and wanted a romantic getaway. We requested a room with a king-size bed and ended up with two queens. From the day we made the reservation months in advance up until the actual check-in we tried to fix this issue. We were told to mention it when we checked in. We did and we were abruptly told all kings were spoken for and no upgrades available. We intentionally stopped by early the morning of our arrival, and we were told they had already given all upgrades and kings away. This was very disappointing. Another issue was the bathroom, there are NO drawers or counter space for items, just not practical. Additionally, we wanted to extend our stay due to bad weather early in the week, we were told a manager had to ok it and would let us know. We waited for a call that never came. After several inquirers we were told the manager was off for a couple of days. Unacceptable, we should have been told sooner but more importantly how can you not have a manager on duty? In the end we did stay an additional day. We were notified by email the morning of the extra day. We had to change rooms; however, it was still not a king size bed and worse we were facing the parking lot and shipping/delivery docks. On a positive note, the hotel itself and location are beautiful! Most of the staff are wonderful and professional with welcoming, positive attitudes. Mark, the valet/shuttle driver and other valets were outstanding. The morning buffet breakfast was exceptional, everything was delicious and fresh, especially the fruit and made to order omelets. The restaurant staff was remarkably kind and attentive. Other notable amenities, the fire pit, smores kits (nice touch) and shuttle service were greatly appreciated. We will consider staying again however we would need to be guaranteed the proper room accommodation prior to arrival.

Dear joannedH7521RO, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us. I apologize that we were unable to meet your room request for a king bed. We try to make every effort to meet guests requests but sometimes it isn't possible. I also apologize that you were informed that a manager would call you and then were told they were off for a few days. We have a number of managers on property and very rarely are they all gone on the same days. The note should have been passed to one of the ones on duty and I have shared this comment with the management team so we can correct this moving forward. Thank you for the lovely comments about the staff, especially Mark, the breakfast buffet, and the comments regarding the rest of our amenities. We very much appreciate all of the feedback you provided.

First impressions of our stay were great! Very friendly staff and the Cottage we stayed in was nice. As our stay continued, minor inconveniences arose - gas smell filled the cottage, broken dryer that could not be repaired left us with lots of wet clothes after being on the slopes (and washing clothe before we knew the dryer was broken) and limited supplies in the kitchen made it tough to cook for a family. The biggest disappointment came on our last day and the experience since then. We left to go skiing and realized we left the oven on. Called the hotel to have someone go shut it off and they were very obliging. Unfortunately, we later realized that the air pods we had left on the kitchen counter were missing. After looking everywhere to be sure they had not been misplaced, we reported our concern as we checked out the next morning. We were told that someone from "Safety & Security" had gone to turn the oven off the night before, so they would check with them and call us. We never got a call. Two days later, I called and spoke to someone in S&S who said they would do "a thorough investigation" and call us back. We never got a call. Two days later I called again - was told the Director of &S would be in the next day and would call us. Still no call and it has been one week since we checked out. The lack of follow up is incredible frustrating and disappointing to say the least. So....if you are going to stay at this hotel/cottages, be sure you are in your room when anyone that works there enters and/or be sure to secure all of your valuables are locked up if someone will be in the room when you are gone. I have no "proof" the air pods were taken when the &S person entered our cottage, but I also know they had not moved from the counter in 5 days, then were suddenly missing and nowhere to be found right after someone entered our cottage and I have not received much help from the S&S department to resolve. :(

We were booked at the Inn at Bay Harbor for a weekend wedding. Stayed in a three bedroom cottage which had wonderful views of the lake. The rooms were clean but lacked the proper amenities for the number of guests it can accommodate. As an example, a group of 7 would have to share a single 20-30ml bottle of lotion. Although we brought our own toiletries, that should have not been the case since the cottage cost over $1k/night. The mattress topper in some rooms were not as comfortable since it was lopsided. I do appreciate however , that the cottage was clean. My husband and I had a typical average buffet breakfast at the hotel. Skip this unless you are in a rush like we were. There are other places to dine in that are walkable from the hotel. Overall, I would still recommend the place since it is seems to be the best accommodation in the area. The place is about a 30 minute drive from Castle Farms, where weddings are usually held and also from the town of Charlevoix. A very interesting quaint town to explore .

Thank you angelfish22_11 for letting us know about your stay with us. I apologize that there was not enough toiletries in your cottage during your stay, however we are always happy to deliver more should the need arise. Thank you for the note about the mattress. If you would like to reach out to me directly to let me know the cottage number I'll have our housekeeping team investigate and make the necessary changes. Also, if you would share with me your thoughts on the breakfast buffet we'd love to hear more details as we tend to get high reviews for the buffet that we offer. We hope that if your travels ever bring you back to the area that you will stay with us again.

I recently stayed here for a girls weekend (5 of us) and it was great. We really enjoyed the scenic views and fall colors. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful and clean room w an incredible view of the bay. The room had a working fireplace, full size toiletries in the showers, good shower pressure, comfy beds, nespresso machine w coffee pods, kitchen w adequate amount of dishes/utensils, etc.
We used the spa- my massage was great and the spa itself was nice, but small. By this, I mean there wasn’t much in terms of amenities to use after your service. I wish they had a sauna/jacuzzi, etc. They should invest in a little expansion, but I still enjoyed myself and would recommend it either way.
As for food- we had the bkfst buffet and also had dinner at the Vintage Chop house one night- both were great and the views as well!
Hopefully (if I can get a good deal), I can visit again in the summer.

We stayed in a two bedroom suite right over the restaurant/wedding area with our son. We paid over $1400 a night for the room with a view of the resort and lake and a separate space for our son. A tent was set up for a Saturday night wedding on Friday which blocked half of our view. The wedding was from approximately 5pm until 11:15 pm. on Saturday. During that time, music blared throughout the resort - blaringly loud. And not any music you’ve heard but rather some unfamiliar music in a foreign language. It was blaring when we were at the pool, blaring while we tried to enjoy dinner at the chophouse and blaring in our room which was right above the wedding. Our room was shaking. We couldn’t sit on our balcony because we couldn’t hear ourselves think and we couldn’t relax on our room. You can’t charge full price for rooms in prime season and then let a wedding basically ruin the experience for everyone else at the hotel. Honestly I was appalled. I asked at the front desk and they said there is a wedding every Saturday night in the summer! The resort is not big enough to hold weddings without disturbing the rest of the resort guests. There should be notice and a significant discount to the exorbitant rates if a wedding is going to ruin the tranquil experience for the rest of the guests. We were extremely disappointed.

Dear Traveler407710000000, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us. We apologize that this experience was not the relaxing stay you had hoped for. We do have a number of weddings throughout the year but especially during the summer wedding season. We do not tend to get comments or complaints about the noise level of the weddings taking place so again I apologize that this one affected yours. We do have policies in place regarding the level of noise and times when the reception ends. I will share your feedback with our events team to ensure that these policies are monitored more closely. We also do try to place those that are attending the wedding in the areas that are the most affected by them. Unfortunately we aren't always able to do this. We hope that you return in the future. If you do please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we will work on making sure that your reservation placement is away from any possible wedding/reception that may take place during your stay. Again thank you for the feed back.

My wife and I and our 3 kids (17,14,10) arrived at the hotel at 4:10 pm. This was 10 minutes after the official check-in of 4 pm. We were told our room was not ready, and they would call us when it was ready. After 90 minutes of enjoying the pool/beach/game area and having a drink, we checked again on our room. It was still not ready and were told it would be at least another hour. Thus, we decided to have dinner. After dinner, now a little after 7 pm, I checked on our room again and was told it still wasn't ready. They now mentioned there would be some compensation for our delay, but it would still be at least another hour and 15 minutes before we could get into our room. After that wait, it was ready, but it was now 8:15 pm. It took over 4 hours to get our room. I've never have had to wait that long to get into my room when arriving after the official check-in time. We did get a $200 credit to our account for the delay, which I appreciate, but it didn't alleviate our frustration. While we waited, we also noticed that the common areas were not being cleaned up. Towels and trash that had been on tables and chairs when we arrived at 4 were still there at 8.
The next day the room attendant asked me, on my way to breakfast, what time we wanted them to refresh our room by giving us new towels and emptying our trash. I said anytime after noon. When we got back that afternoon around 3:30 pm, they had not completed the refreshing. That night when the family was getting cleaned up for dinner we called for extra towels, we were one set short. 45 minutes later they still weren't there. They arrived sometime after we left the room.
In talking to a non-front desk employee, he shared that they were having problems getting staff, especially to clean the rooms. He mentioned the extra $600 unemployment payment and restrictions on J1 visas having limited the pool of employees. If these are the problems, then the hotel needs to figure out how to get more employees and/or limit the # of rooms they book on a nightly basis. He also shared that he has never seen these problems at the hotel, and he has worked there 5+ years.
The employees we encountered were nice and polite, but most of them always seemed to be rushed.
Not sure if I'd visit again after COVID, but would not go back during COVID nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone during COVID.

Thank you for your feedback. You shouldn’t have had that delay and we apologize. We have worked on controls to available inventory of rooms and continue to do so to minimize issues such as these arriving. This is an ongoing process. The lack of the towel delivery was a miss on our part and should have taken place within the time frame asked for and given. We will review your housekeeping related items with our housekeeping and pool managers.

Hello DL1017, Thank you for submitting your question. There could be a number of reasons that you are unable to find anything on the App or online. The app may be down in general, unfortunately this isn't something we are able to fix as it is a Marriott program and they handle the app side of it. Another reason is that we may have a minimum night stay requirement and if you are putting in times that don't match the minimum nothing will show up. Perhaps you are trying to book a specific rate type or room type and these are already sold out. If you aren't able to find what you are looking for through the app I would recommend contacting our reservations department directly and they can assist with booking the reservation.
Hello,
My apologies for the delayed response to your question regarding our resort fee. If you go to our Inn at Bay Harbor webpage and click on the accommodations link you will find the list of our resort fee items towards the bottom of the page.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Thank you for your question. We follow the Federal Government and Michigan State American's with Disabilities Act requirements when it comes to service animals. They define a service animal as a guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to a person with a disability. If they meet this definition, animals are considered service animals under the ADA regardless of whether they have been licensed or certified by state or local government. Service animals perform some of the functions and tasks that the person with a disability cannot perform for him or herself. Guide dogs are one type of service animal, used by some people who are blind. This is the type of service animal with which most people are familiar. Service animals also help people with other kinds of disabilities in their daily activities. Some examples include:
• Alerting persons with hearing disabilities to sounds.
• Pulling wheelchairs or carrying and picking up things for persons with mobility disabilities.
• Assisting persons with mobility disabilities with balance.

No indoor pool that I saw; just an outdoor pool and the lake. Plenty of firepits and heaters though, great places to sit outside and enjoy the scenery with a cup of coffee or a cocktail.
The pool and hot tub are weather dependent. We always try to keep the pool open until Mid-October. The hot tub stays open all year but we do shut it down occasionally to do scheduled maintenance.
There are more places to choose from in the Bay Harbor area.
