The VOI Tanka Village, overlooking the large and white beach of Simius, one of the most evocative of Sardinia, covers an area of 43 hectares, distributed in the plain of Tanka sloping towards the crystalline sea, surrounded and immersed in the thick Mediterranean brush where the 870 rooms and bungalows that characterize its large accommodation capacity are harmoniously integrated. VOI Tanka Village is the ideal destination for a sea and nature holiday enriched with sport and high-quality services. Not far from Villasimius, it is also the ideal starting point for naturalistic and archaeological excursions, also by boat, to visit caves and evocative corners of the southern coast of Sardinia.

Me, my husband and our 1.5y.o. daughter stayed here for a week and our stay was perfect!

Resort
The resort is very big and well maintained, beautiful gardens, a lot of greenery and nice paths for waking with shadow. It has a lot of shops where you can buy beach stuff for adults and kids, farmacy (very convenient for families with kids!), ice cream shop and bar. The territory is huge, so a lot to explore! there is a shuttle "train", which goes around the village, our little one loved it! All the staff of the resort is very nice and friendly.

Rooms
Rooms (even if they are a bit dated), are very spacious and have plenty of spaces for storage. We stayed in Casbah superior and we loved the location: close to the beach and to the main square with shops. The bed is very big and very comfy. Hot water always present with good pressure.

Food & restaurants
Our room category was assigned to Oasis restaurant: it is buffet style restaurant and the food was really good: every day wide choice of meat, fish, sea food, starters, pasta, vegetables, fruits and deserts. As we had Casbah superior, we had reserved table. Maybe it is a must in August in high season, if you want to avoid crowds and don't want to waste your time to search for a free table. In September I think it was not that necessary as restaurant was never too busy. Anyway, having reserved. table is a nice option. There is also a pizzeria, we ate once there, which has good pizza.
There are other 2 restaurants: Myrto (dedicated to Dimora and Domus rooms) and Stella di Mare (a la carte), which we did not try.

Facilities for babies
It perfect place for families with kids of every age: many play grounds, kids club (we did not try because our LO is to little). But the main thing is restaurant Cucciolo! It has everything for kids: milk, diapers, homogenized food, "normal" food such as pasta, fish, meat, vegetables. You can even blend different ingredients by your choice. This restaurant is situated in Oasis, so for us it was very convenient to have breakfast, lunch and dinner here.

Beach
One of the best beaches in the area! It has fine white sand and shallow crystal clear waters, so perfect for the little ones. You can book sunbeds and umbrellas separately, price depends on the row. Every morning there is acqua gym, nice way to spend time on the beach.

Negative points:
Wi Fi is not present in the rooms (or at least was not present in our room). Plenty of mosquitoes, so bring with you all the possible anti mosquitoes stuff: spray, fumigators, etc.. Our room had only 1 plug! We had to charge our mobile phones in the bathroom, as the one available in the room was always busy with anti mosquitoes fumigator.

Overall we are happy with our stay and will recommend it to our friends! Will definitely come back

Overall we are very happy about stay, will definitely come back and recommend it to our friends.

We were really worried after reading the other reviews but were pleasantly surprised on arrival. This resort is an Italian dominated one, we didn't hear any other English here for the entire week, but if you are like us and have come to a different country to enjoy Italian life this won't bother you. Because of this naturally the entertainment, signposting etc is in Italian but hopefully this review will give you some tips.

Arrival
Our taxi stopped and the concierge took our baggage and loaded on to buggy cart whilst we checked in at reception. The receptionists spoke English and were very friendly. They give you a small map of the resort and point out the restaurants you can eat at etc. They issue you your room keys and as this is a cashless resort you put money on your room key at reception to be able to spend at the shops, bars, restaurants etc. The buggy then takes you and your suitcases to your accommodation.

Accommodation
We stayed in a domus apartment that was basic in furniture etc but had everything we need. Separate bedroom for adults with king size bed and walk in wardrobe, shower bathroom. Then separate room with 2 sofa beds (comfy) for the kids with separate shower room. There is also a full size fridge and plenty of storage for clothes as well as a safe

Restaurants
As we were staying in Domus apartments our restaurant for breakfast and dinner was Mirto which had a great choice of food for all of the family. The servers were super friendly and spoke great English.

We also had the chance to swap and have dinner in La Piazetta which we did on one night (you just need to walk in and make a reservation before hand). The pizzas were very nice and server's again friendly.

The other 2 restaurants are Oasis which is for people staying in other accommodation which we didn't visit and Stella de Mere which is an a la carte restaurant which we also didn't visit.

Beach & Pool
The beach is stunning, clean and well organised. On your first day you need to go to the kiosk and book your sun beds. The most expensive are the 4 poster style which we didn't use. Then the normal loungers are priced by row so the most expensive at the front, more reasonable by row 5 down. They get booked up quickly so book for the week and include this in your budgeting. There is an area to the right (if looking at the sea) where you can put up your own umbrella, towels etc at no cost. The sea is lovely, gently shelving and perfect for kids. There is a restaurant on the beach as well as ice cream kiosk. They have a diving centre there too, as well as kayaks, and wind surfers to hire (no pedalo's) if you go to zone B it's a lot quieter than zone A in terms of music
etc. Plenty of lifeguards and security. You can
hire beach towels but we took our own

The pool is huge (Olympic size) and not used massively so quite quiet. You have to wear a swim hat to use it and there are no inflatables or balls allowed so it really is for swimming. There is a baby pool which is good as the main pool is very
deep. We always managed to get some sun
loungers which are free as they do not allow
people to hold with towels. The pool opens at
9am, closes at 1pm to 3pm then opens until 7pm

Entertainment
Most nights there is music in the main square
area or in the bar on the way to the beach. They
also hold a show every night at 10pm in the theatre, this might be magic, singing or a play (most was in italian)

Shops and bars
There is a main bar by the pool that serves snacks and ice creams and a fantastic creperie and ice cream parlour who serve delicious crepes (even did lemon and sugar for me).

There is a nice souvenir shop, perfume shop, inflaribles/holiday shop x 2, chemist and big clothes shop, as well as a lovely jewellery one.

Excursions
You can book these from 3 places - the reception 9-11, or by the pool, or on the beach. The staff by the pool spoke excellent English and were very helpful. We went on 2 x 2 hour rib rides which stopped off at some excellent places for snorkeling and exploring. If you want to go into the local town of villasimius there is a shuttle buggy that runs free of charge from the hotel reception in the morning and evening.....well worth a visit even if its just to go to the supermarket and grab snacks.

Photography
If you see a photographer on the beach or on the square make the most of them. They take snaps and then upload them to a portal where you can view and decide whether to buy them from their shop which is located round the corner from the pool bar. They are fairly reasonably priced and really lovely. You get both a printed copy and a digital one. There are no pressure selling.

Check out is at 10am, when you are ready dial 9 for reception and ask them to come and get you and your baggage. They will then store it for you until you need to leave or if you want to keep your room you need to ask for a late check out over 24hrs before at an additional cost

I hope this has helped. Overall we found that trying to speak a little Italian (good morning etc) went a long way.

A great family holiday

I've been at the Tanka Village with my girlfriend for 4 nights. The room was quite comfortable and with lot of space. Many services and attractions despite it was middle of September. The food is absolutely excellent, but the restaurant is a bit too noisy for my opinion, so better for families with children. I personally don't like hotel stays because i prefer to have my apartment on holidays without being obliged to follow all specific times including the restaurants, which is a bit stressful for me, but who loves hotels, villages with lot of activities it is a must.I don't like the recharging Voi card system (to pay all services) but it's my personal opinion. Pay attention to the check-out time... on the tv in the room it's written that you can do it till 10.30 a.m. but at 10.15 a.m. when we come back from our last breakfast we were blocked outside of our room with our bags inside because the cards have been already blocked! Overall a good stay with a wonderful beach, sea, park and well maintained garden.

My best friend and I were really looking forward to visiting Sardinia and staying at Tanka Village.
Unfortunately we were both very disappointed.
Upon arrival and check in the information provided to us was minimal and we were left to find our own way.
We put this to the back of our minds as we were both looking forward to enjoying a well deserved holiday.
However because basic information such as Breakfast and restaurants were not given to us we would find ourselves looking for breakfast in the wrong restaurants and being told you cannot eat here. As you can imagine this is quite an embarrassing situation and as we are not Italian speaking we really couldn’t grasp the concept of Tanka.
The pool looked lovely and as you can imagine at any hotel you look forward to taking a dip. This was not the case as you are not allowed to use the pool unless you purchased a swimming cap and wore it.
It seemed to be issue after issue with what you could do at Tanka.
If only we were provided with detailed information I feel that the uncomfortable feelings we had could have been avoided.
I have to say that Italy has always been a destination that I enjoy, the people and the food go hand in hand. However on this occasion I strongly feel that because I was not Italian I was forgotten about and really not made to feel welcome. The welcome was just not there. I would smile and try to speak to the staff however I was met with almost blank expressions.
The location is great and the beach is beautiful but these factors are not part of the Hospitality.
There are so many things that I could mention about Tanka but I almost feel it would be a waste of time to share.
1. Tanka is very dated, the rooms are in desperate need of renovation
2. Customer Service needs to be able to understand clients needs
3. Restaurants are a free for all, you need to grab a table quickly and hope for the best. No organisation
4. The golf buggies are driven far too quickly and dangerously around the village. An accident waiting to happen
5. We were charged for an airport transfer that we did not confirm and we then told they said they hadn’t actually arranged the transfer so we had to wait for them to arrange which meant we almost missed our flight home. Again no apology. We almost paid for another taxi without realising they had charged us
6. None of the facilities are free to use without a deposit. When you book to stay be prepared to pay for sun loungers, the gym, the pool…….
7. Our room was pretty far, it took about 15 minutes from the main bar to our rooms.
8. The check out was very long and painful and I used google translate to communicate with the staff as very few of them spoke English.
9. This really does reach far below a 4 star hotel.

I’m sorry to say that the Staff at Tanka Village front desk needs to really change their mindset and be honest about the service they provide. Service with a smile would go such a long way. Take the time to share information with your new customers.

Cordiali saluti, La Direzione

We had a great 2 weeks with the family at Tanka. Great food, a variety of sports activity during the day along with great entertainment around the different bar areas and the amphitheater. The sea is crystal clear along with miles of white sandy beaches. The boat trips were informative and fun as it was great exploring the wonderful coastline. The staff were helpful and google translate helped on many occasions…and the animation led by Marco Guidi was brilliant for everyone to see. We had a great time and will be back next year!

The resort is set on one of the most beautiful areas in the south of Sardinia. Check in might take time, depending on how many people there are and also because it takes time to explain everything since it's a big resort. Staff is very nice and friendly. I had a room in a bungalow, the size of it is very nice but it's very dated. There was only one outlet to charge anything, tv is small, there is no internet in the room!!! Guys it's 2023!! But the most annoying thing it was the issue with warm water: there is an electric boiler and if you use too much warm water, it takes hours to warm it up again. I had 2 cold showers: cakes the maintenance that pointed out that there was nothing to do if not waiting... the food is very good to be a big resort and it's well organized. The beach is very beautiful although it should be included, anyway it was written on all websites. I find the all inclusive very poor. They should include some drinks and snacks instead only the 3 meals are included. It's after all a good resort but not as good as some years ago when it was a very well known one. They need to work a lot and modernize many things

We stayed for one week with our son who is 17 months old. We choose a room close to the beach which was great, less than 5 minutes walk. Something to consider if you have very young kids. It was even closer to the piazzetta where the main bar, shops and restaurants are. The room itself, while perhaps a bit dated, was large, cool and the bed was really comfortable.

The food was delicious, lots of healthy options to choose from and a wide variety for vegetarians, less so for vegans. One suggestion would be to have a designated place for a vegan dish each day, for example a lentil stew/curry/soup with rice, rather than getting veggies from all the different food areas to make a meal. The vegan croissants at breakfast were lovely.

The beach is beautiful, clean and the water perfect. The staff were so friendly and the entertainment was top quality for both kids and adults. We didn’t get to see any of the night time shows in the theatre unfortunately but did listen to some bands and acoustic sets in the bars.

Most of the guests are Italian so I would have struggled a bit only for my (Italian) partner doing all the talking but the staff kindly changed to English whenever I attempted communication 😃. The resort photographers Lorenzo and Andrea were so friendly and helpful too and we got some photos printed.

We will definitely be back next year!

I’m traveling a lot and it’s first time I’m facing such experience.
I’m sorry for negative comment.

This huge hotel-village is situated on the beautiful beach with the emerald blue water of the lagoon of Villasimius town. So I was tuned to relax and enjoy my stay there.
The swimming pool is big, the restaurant was nice, Italian coffee is nice as well, but personnel was busy, hurrying up and not friendly.
Why? Because we are not Italian speaking?
I don’t think so.
I have found the concept of this village as the very industrial tourism, without hospitality and welcoming, without smile, unfortunately. Everything is for making money on you.
It’s sad!
And people who work there, probably, is suffering as well.
Some rooms need renovation and as do the refrigerators and air conditioners.
The our cherry on the cake was leaking the ammonia from the fridge in our room during the night !!!
Things happens by night.
Just after midnight.
The smell was so strong that it hurt my eyes and I immediately jumped out of bed and called to reception.
They answered very common, like nothing happened, wait, in 5 minutes we will come to you. Ok.
After 25-30 min I came myself to reception.
Hopefully they have changed my room, so around 2.00 am I could sleep.
And it was bigger and better room , so I grateful for it.
Anyway next morning we had check out to move further, fortunately.
No regrets, no apologies from reception side, like nothing happened, just carrying for non earned money. Business as usual.
Do you know that ammonia a toxic ?
If not, google it, please.

So I can conclude, please be careful to choose hotel and to avoid such a hotel as VOI Tonka Village at Villasimius.

We suffered two years absence from this absolutely incredible spot of Sardinia because of well known covid hoax.

Coming back was like stepping back into a dream. Friendly staff, super helpful and responsive reception, food exceptionally good quality in quantity you wish. Breathtakingly beautiful beach suiting families to the hilt and even option of walking to the nearby beach of gets too strong.

Fantastic for families!

Absolutely incredible hotel! I stayed there for a week in July with my family on a half-board with dinner arrangement. The food is incredible in the buffet with an enormous variety. All the amenities of the hotel are great, the beach is perfect and the overall ambiance is outstanding. A lot of people staying in the hotel were Italian, but all the staff made an effort to understand us (we're Portuguese, and we also speak English) and they were all so nice and ready to help. The rooms are a bit outdated but they're incredibly clean every day. The only bad thing is that the hotel is so big that you have to walk a lot from one place to the other, but if you wait a bit you can catch the train that the hotel offers as a shuttle service so people can get around more easily. I didn't travel with kids but I noticed the hotel is incredible for them. They have a kids' club and a bunch of different entertainment options, as well as lots of other families with children to interact with. Definitely a great hotel, by a great beach, with the standout points being the quality and variety of the food in the buffet and the kindness and hospitality of all the workers.
