The best part is the location. It was right at the beach, playa de los muertos and in front of the Muelle de playa de los muertos. Excellent location. This is also part of zona romantica where the excitement and action of PV are all located. The rooms are at best described as spartan but the balconies do look out to the beach so really hard to diminish that. If your priority is location, then this is a good hotel, but there are also other hotels close by that may offer more services and comfort. The Staff is also a big asset. Front desk all speak English and quite responsive. Gervacio went over and above every single time to help out the guests.

Disliked · The WIFI is so poor in this hotel that it's almost non-existent. This makes it especially difficult for when you have to do video visit for the COVID-19 testing requirement. No matter where in the hotel, the signal strength is mediocre at best. You're better off going to a nearby cafe or restaurant for wifi.
The bathrooms are OLD and grungy looking. I wish the owners will invest some money to improve their toilets and make their wifi functional.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 times over the years. It is sometimes hard to rent condos, so our back up is the Emperador and we have always found it to be clean and in a convenient area on the beach. Ian and Claudia are very pleasant and attentive and always greeted us with a smile and the staff as well.

Ian goes above and beyond he makes everything work!
The hotel needs some updating, the kitchen needs to have
better pots and pans, plates etc. Would be nice to have a
microwave, if you ask they will provide you with a toaster if one
Is available. The kitchenette comes with a coffee maker.

The Wifi is spotty. In the rooms it would be nice to have a couple of comfortable chairs or a love seat to watch the television or read as it is uncomfortable to do this sitting on the bed. Still our first choice when unable to rent a condo. It’s all
about Location Location and the people.

Stayed here because it was inexpensive and we’re familiar with the area. We booked a standard ocean view room and were place in Room 5 which is on the first floor overlooking the roof of the restaurant downstairs. You can sort of see the ocean through the palm trees but not truly an “ocean view”. The room itself was large and the bed was comfortable. You get 2 towels for the whole room, no washcloths or hand towels. Rooms was clean but this is an older hotel so don’t expect frills. The wi-fi was nonexistent in the part of the hotel that we were in. The rooms have no safe for your belongings. No pool at this property; spa on the 5th floor terrace was closed for maintenance. You get a 10% discount at Si Señor! downstairs. Their food and drinks are good. As a guest of the hotel you are able to use the lounge chairs on the beach in front of the restaurant; however, they fill up quick and you may want to try the restaurant next door, La Palapa which has OUTSTANDING food, drinks and service! For details about La Palapa, read my review for them. All in all, a clean & comfortable place to lay your head down in a wonderful part of town. No bells, no whistles, no frills BUT very affordable! Would definitely stay here again if traveling on a budget.

Awesome location, great price and friendly staff.

Bed comfy
Air conditioner worked great
Loved the balcony
Roof top terrace pretty cool
Clean
Best view
Great internet
Felt safe
Very nice cleaning staff
Nice kitchen in the balcony area (coffee pot super dirty and frying pan so old not worth using)

Only thing I’d change was Si Senior way over priced so we only had one afternoon using lounge chairs. $450 pesos for 3 beef tacos and very limited beach menu was disappointing. Plus another couple tried for a half hour to put in a food order and wait staff openly ignored them. Wished they had a beach menu for hotel guest.

Neighborhood not overly friendly. Doesn’t seem like a big deal but 2 blocks over and everyone smiling and talking with us. Coffee shop and OXxo near hotel u can barley get staff to crack a smile. Weird as PV such a friendly city.

Over all would stay again as we got an amazing price, staff great and the view of the Pier was fantastic.
We stayed one week.

I loved the location of this hotel. It is beach front in old town, there are so many things to do and see in walking distance. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. There is an in room safe and our room was a suite so it had an outdoor kitchen. The rooms are not resort and up to date fancy but they are nice and well decorated. The outdoor kitchen has a fridge, stove and a coffee maker. The a/c unit worked well and kept the majority of the humidity at bay. The staff was super friendly and helpful every time we needed anything. There is a convenience store right across the street so you can grab waters and other things for the room. Also be sure and walk around the block to the fruit place and get some fresh foods.
The only down side we found of this hotel was the noise level at all hours of the night. It is not the hotels fault, it is just on a busy street. So if you are a light sleeper be sure and bring some ear plugs.

Very nice hotel right on the beach and at the beginning/end of the Malecón (like a boardwalk) that runs along the waterfront.
Restaurants everywhere, and a huge sculpture just outside the hotel that is illuminated at night. The employees are also very helpful, and the maid made some animals out of towels.

I don’t know why we came back. It is now the second time they’ve given us two separate twin beds instead of one full bed as requested and paid. The buttons on the remote work backwards (volume changes channel and channel volume.) it’s crammed and the restaurant is overpriced. The guy working the morning shift on January 2nd was rude and unhelpful. He didn’t care at all that we weren’t getting the room we paid for. The beds consist of a thin mattress on a block of concrete. I will say that the room service is great. My room was cleaned every day and looked great. Go somewhere else where you will get your money’s worth.

If you're expecting stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, you'll be disappointed. If you want functional, authentic Mexico, then this is your place. Our room, basic and comfortable, nothing fancy, but with the most breathtaking ocean view and beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed our breakfast coffee on our large balcony with the sounds of Mariachi in background.. great for people watching, conveniently located to everything you need...just a perfect stay.. ❤️

Lovely older Mexican hotel, right on the beach with great views. We had a balcony facing the ocean, lovely afternoon breezes and fantastic sunsets. Oxxo is right across the street for grabbing beer or snacks for the room. Staff were friendly, room was very clean Location is the best, if you like great restaurants, Si Senor is part of the hotel and the beachfront restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices.

My wife and I spent a week at the Emperador in June. We have stayed in the Romantic Zone before and wanted a hotel on the beach so we chose the Emperador for the price and the location. We wanted a view of the ocean so we booked one of the suites. Check in was fast and the staff were more than friendly. Our room was located on the the fourth floor and was large but very dated. The bed was comfortable. We had a full size fridge and a large balcony overlooking the ocean and the famous pier in the Romantic Zone.
The beach in front of the Hotel has a non affiliated restaurant that controls all of the beach chairs, but they seem to reserve maybe a dozen beach chairs for Hotel guests. We were there during the low season, so we could usually get a chair. The hotel is located right on the beach and walking distance to dozens of awesome stores and restaurants. All in all, we loved our stay and the Emperador and would stay there again.

The Emperador street entrance, where your taxi will drop you to check in at the desk on that level, is on Amapas, just a couple of doors south of Rodolfo Gomez. The pedestrian beach entrance is through the SiSenor restaurant.
