I really do not want to give this glowing review as St James Manor is the best kept secret in Cape Town! We have stayed here for 5 years. We have stayed at all the glitzy places in Cape Town but St James beats them all - from the minute you arrive, nothing is too much trouble. It’s home from home for us and there is not a single negative aspect to the accommodation, care and kindness on offer from all the amazing staff. Thank you again for a wonderful 12 days of peace and serenity.

This guesthouse, at St James, is a must, for anyone wanting accommodation away from the city, on the False Bay coast. From the reception desk, through the immaculately furnished lounge then to your suites, this guesthouse is full of wonderful furniture, adding to the 'old world" character of this magnificent guesthouse. The suites are beautiful, spacious, and of course with beautiful furniture and fittings. The staff, especially Goodnews , are exceptional, and will attend to your all your needs. There are plentiful local restaurants, galleries and bars to visit. just down the road.

A time I will always remember in one of the world’s most beautiful spaces.
The Manor is a grand old dame, jealously guarding the treasures of gentility and comfort so often absent from our modern world.
The location is wonderful with easy walking access to tidal pools, Muizenburg beach, the gorgeous village of Kalk Bay, wonderful cafes and eateries and many other adventures just a short drive away.
The Manor herself provides a quiet and beautiful haven to rest in and retire to.
Go soon and stay awhile……..

We just left St James Manor and absolutely loved our stay. We enjoyed our spacious and luxurious stately room. We’d like to specifically mention Goodnews and Clive for their fabulous service with a smile!

St James Manor is conveniently situated on the Main road going through St James and Muizenberg, making it easy to walk everywhere.

We would definitely come back!

A Gem of a Small Hotel!

My husband and I spent 6 delightful nights at The St James Manor Guest House over the New Year …. We loved every moment of our stay and cannot wait to return .
The Manor House is beautifully furnished with antiques and the understated service is perfect - ones every need is quietly catered for !
The large suites are exquisite and the peace and quiet of the setting between the mountain and the sea is perfect !
Dene and her small team are unobtrusively present for your every need 👌
We shall hopefully be back very soon

We were staying in this guesthouse few years ago, and since then really waited to return.
This guesthouse has it own charm, and so much potential, we loved it back then and now.
Unfortunately, due to Covid breakfast is not served in the guesthouse, and you get voucher to a caffe which is 300 meters far, which is quite a pity, as the breakfast was really good one from what we remembered.
Wi FI signal want really good, so we had some problems with that.
The room was really beautiful, and the pool area is amazing (i think we missed it last time).
Overall, we would love to come back again, hopefully breakfast will be served at the guesthouse :)

We have just arrived back into the UK after an amazing holiday in South Africa
We were lucky enough to experience both the St James Manor House and Homestead Villa the following week for our family Birthday Party Both are owned by the Rovos Rail Group
Clive, Dene and all the staff looking after both properties, went out of their way to give us a wonderful time in both places The guest house is lovely, small but so personal. The breakfast was wonderful and they even had an honesty bar where you can socialise and chat to other guests
The Villa was absolutely fabulous although I feel the website photos don't do it the justice it deserves. Each of the six bedrooms are massive suites with a huge living space, spectacular beds and bathrooms The living spaces are on the ground floor looking out to sea and the upper level also with a balcony and a sea view We actually spotted a couple of dolphins whilst sitting on the spacious terrace
We used the pool and rear outside spaces when it was good weather Everyone had special memories to take home We would highly recommend the Villa for a larger group We had the best time in both accommodations Thank you all xx

You will not regret staying at St James Manor. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and welcome. The atmosphere is tranquil and relaxing and the staff are very friendly, happy in their jobs and nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast was excellent too.
St James is also an ideal base for exploring the Cape Peninsula

We spent one night here. It certainly encapsulates old-world charm. I can’t remember how long ago we experienced a “turndown” service!
The amenities were lovely, with a very spacious bathroom and bedroom, including a reading nook. In warm weather the pool area must be so relaxing.
When we went into Kalk Bay for dinner we opted to drive as it’s about a kilometer to walk, which isn’t far or unsafe, just a preference really.
We enjoyed the breakfast and would recommend a stay here. Thank you to the team for their hospitality.
