We had a superb time at Chinderera Eco Lodge, the location is perfect and the lodge is very quaint and unique. Our host Bill and Pam were very welcoming and made us feel right at home, Pam cooked the most delicious meals, definitely a highlight of the stay :) Thanks so much for making our holiday perfect :)
We spent 3 nights in this lodge (which consists of 2 rooms altogether -> so make sure you book well in advance). Pam and Bill are wonderful hosts. The owners offer a wonderful hospitality- morning coffee in the room, breakfast and great dinner. Pam is a fantastic cook: Tastes of Africa - lovely food, homemade and authentic. Bill put so much effort in building the lodge himself- no concrete, no steel. Just natural material used. Everything is well planned and thought through. We strongly recommend this place !!! They also provide great tours with fantastic local guides!!!
Had the most magical time here celebrating my husbands birthday. The forest surrounding the lodge is incredible! It is extremely peaceful & private. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the decor to the food and service. Its amazing. Such a treat. Recommend that you use a 4x4 to travel in.
This lodge values overseas visitors than local South Africans, the breakfast offered was very basic compared to what we were served in another lodge in Kosi Bay Pam mentioned we’re lucky she didn’t charge extra for onion rings I mean really???
We stayed 4 nights at Chinderera, which was very special. The place is very remote, in the middle of the bush (what you do not envisage until you are 10 minutes away from the place). Be prepared that the last km to drive may be a difficult deep sand road. Pam and Bill will warmly welcome you, but you may be surprised that there are not many guests - up to 6 in 2 rustic chalets. So you will become more or less part of the family. Pam cooks her great African dinners - which is her passion - exclusively for her guests and her husband. Pam and Bill work closely with the local community. So you may be strongly encouraged to do a lovely exciting and exclusive walking tour with Patrick through the parc, along the lakes, learn from his brother about the traditional fish traps, visit the family on top of the dune, get a very basic African fish-lunch and wade back through the lake, while observing, flamingos, sea eagles, hippos and learn a lot about the trees and birds, as well as the life of the communities in the parc (without road connection and electricity). Our „highlight“ was the experience of two tropical thunderstorms in the lodge. We really were frightened from the thunders and the heavy rain in the night. Bill and Pam managed the issues with blackout of electricity and the rain well. We liked it very much at Chinderera. Be prepared for a place which is managed with a lot of passion and personality.…
