I stayed in a Blu Monkey in Krabi, and I could have not of dreamed of a more ideal hotel to situate myself in. So when I came to Phuket my expectations were high. So I am pleased to say this Blu monkey was just as good if not better. The location is prime if you want a more cultural experience, but if you still want to enjoy the night life, Old town is just a vibrant. As well Patong is just a 40 min/30 min journey away depending on the transport you decide.

This Hotel is situated not far from the ferry pier, so in terms of convenience it is also right up there.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming! Never any complaints with housekeeping etc.
So if you’re looking for a stress free, reasonable priced stay in the heart of Phuket city, look no further.

We stayed 10 days at the Blu Monkey Hub and Hotel and we loved our room, the breakfast and the staff! Song took great care of our room and was so kind and attentive. We took the blue bus to Patong, Kara and Karon beach and we walked around Phuket Town which has endless shops and restaurants to explore. The Indy night market and Saturday Street Market were an awesome experience as well. This is a great choice for couples and young travellers that enjoy calm, open concept spaces!

Stayed in the Blu Monkey for 1N whilst in Phuket City.

The location is very good - central to the wider city. The price was competitive.

The staff were friendly.

I've marked it as 3*s rather than 4*s as my room felt quite dark. The black walls, flooring and furniture don't help the rather insufficient artificial light. So, good for somewhere to stop over whilst in the city but wouldn't stay for a longer period.

The hotel is located in the old city area which is not so good in environment. So, I chose this hotel for my business trip and expected good working space in the room. However, the working desk in very tight and narrow. The room is too dim and dark with the interior design in black and white which supposedly to look modern, but it is not. The bathroom, especially the toilet is dirty, where I needed to ask the housekeeping to clean up before settling down on the first day. After the first night, I needed to move because the air-cond was not working properly, too cold and not be able to adjust the fan speed, so my first night was terrible with the coldness. After moving to another room, still I observed the yellow stain still on the toilet which made me realize that it is the culture of cleanliness level of the hotel. However, I was happy with the new air-cond which it was working better to control the fan speed. The front desk is not very helpful and not responsive to any request. Thus, I would say that staying here is quite independent, you need to deal with any problem by yourself, asking for help is hopeless. If anyone would expect to enjoy the bathtub at the balcony, please reconsider because the privacy around the hotel is very low, even the room is facing the empty space, but next to the empty space is the public road and housing. So, for me the bathtub at the balcony is useless. The only good thing of the hotel that I can see is the free bananas and drinking water always at the lobby. BTW, the breakfast line is poor, and leaving no other option to eat something else because outside the hotel is nothing to eat in the morning.

Stayed at Blu Monkey for a few nights to explore Phuket. The hotel is very good value however there were a few negatives during our stay. The room was clean however there was an awful smell coming from the bathroom which didn’t seem to go away. Breakfast was tasty but everything was always cold, no matter what time you came down in the morning. The pool area was nice and clean however there was an awful smell coming from river behind the resort which definitely impacted our stay as we didn’t really want to sit by the pool as the smell was too strong. This hotel is fine for a couple of night stop over in the town but wouldn’t stay any longer than that.

The noise was pretty unbearable. You can hear the traffic outside, people walking along the corridor outside your room, and every door that slams shut when people go in and out of their room. Literally only had 3 hours of sleep between 3am to 6am when things were quieter.

If you are not a light sleeper, then this hotel would work. Otherwise, I recommend bringing along ear plugs. The door slamming noise can be quite startling.

Update : just checked out with no refund as my wife and I felt it would be unhealthy to stay there. The staff was understanding and offered us a change in room to even a bigger room but as the issue is likely in all the rooms, we decided to turn down the offer and simply pay for another night elsewhere.

Review: Room had a very bad musky smell that smelled like mold or sewer water. Almost uncomfortable to breathe in. Lucky I only booked one night. I would cancel if it was more than 1. Health is more important.

On the good side staff is friendly and the location is really good. 5 min from the night market and town.

But the room smell is honestly unbearable. Smells like you are in an old cupboard and you open up the door to a toilet.

My travel agent book this hotel for 5 days & we are checking out on 2nd day. If you enjoy loud karaoke until 3am or like sewer smell from your balcony or pool area - this will be your spot !! Very nice decor, clean rooms, comfy bed, free coffee all day, in the center of nowhere.. they did not refund $$ paid for other 4 days - be aware..

Yes they all have a private bahtroom. And some rooms, for some weird reason, have a bathtub on the balcony....

The hotel itself does not offer airport transfer however you can take a public transit bus from the airport to bus terminal 2 in old Phuket town and the hotel is literally 200 yards from the terminal.
