Terrible experience, load shedding and generator issues. You want to get away from the loadshedding in gauteng and are forced to endure it here. They had a stunning solar facility that gave 100% power. When we came two months later every solar panel was gone!! So what happened? No don't waste your money here!

I want to thank all the staff at Dikhololo for making my elderly parents, Piet and Rina Olivier, stay enjoyable. They just returned from their midweek stay- with huge praises for all the staff members. They were happy with the accommodation, the only problem they expressed was the shower in the bath. They both battle with mobility, but this will not deter them from visiting again. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Polar opposite of staff friendliness experienced. Hotel and reception staff are so rude and impatient and you hold for quite some time to get hold of them, whilst staff at activities and outdoors are very friendly and helpful. The accommodation seemed reasonably priced until arrival. You pay extra for EVERYTHING! Even turning the aircon on in your hot bushveld unit will cost you extra. We also weren’t informed of cleaning arrangements and that cleaning staff don’t attend on a long weekend. So in a 6 sleeper unit had only 2 toilet rolls, a overflowing bin and very dirty floors for our stay. 6 sleeper unit also definitely not for 6 adults. Aside from sharing every conversation with your Neighbour because of the paper thin walls, 6 adults will not stay comfortably. 2 of the beds are couches in the lounge and there is only one bathroom, which had a clogged shower. Outdoor activities are Well maintained apart from the supertube which is a disaster waiting to happen. No life guard or staff on duty and very tall fun fast ride. On the brief half an hour we were there we witnessed 2 horrible accidents, child stuck under water and adults jumping in to help him and a man who knocked his head as he came out the last turn. He stayed under water a while and when he came up was bleeding badly on his head. No first aider or life guard to check he was alright. Make sure you remember everything you need - you’ll pay almost R20 for a chocolate or a roll of toilet paper, R70 for a small oil at their shop. And then came the most rude kick out Call. Running few minutes over our check out time (30 minutes) trying to coordinate kids and pack, no polite check in to see everything is ok or remind you of check out. Just a - do you know what time it is? You’re late. If you don’t have the key back in the next few minutes you pay a penalty. Wow! At least there are plenty other options close by to see some wildlife.

Hi tkshandi, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We value all feedback from our guests, as it helps us improve our services and guest experiences. We regret that you did not have a completely positive experience during your stay, especially as this is not the kind of experience we are known to provide. We apologise if you encountered any rudeness or impatience from our reception staff. This is certainly not the level of service they are known for, and will have our management team review this. Furthermore, units are not serviced on Sundays and public holidays, and although this is contained in our confirmation letters, we are sorry for any miscommunication in this regard. Safety is our top priority, and we are deeply concerned to learn of the incidents you witnessed. We are investigating this matter urgently and will take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of our guests in all outdoor activities. We understand that cost can be a concern for our guests, and we continually review our pricing to ensure it aligns with the value and quality of our offerings. Having said that, some of our facilities do have a nominal charge, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. We also apologise if you felt rushed during check-out. Our team is intervening to ensure a more courteous and helpful approach in such situations. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, and hope that you would consider giving us another chance in the future to demonstrate our commitment to providing a wonderful stay to all our guests.

My overall experience at the resort was very good and relaxing. I have a few things has bothered me. The unit's furniture are old and worn down. At the filling station they only accept cash. I can strongly recommend this resort for the whole family - there are enough activities to keep the whole family entertained.

The setting and main complex areas are quite impressive. There is plenty to do and enjoy. The accommodation in the chalets was however not good at all. Considering that it is winter, there is no ample provision for cold nights. Aircons are not working optimally and is positioned in the main bedroom only. There is no other way of heating the rest of the chalet that is sizeable and good, but during cold spells is actually quite chilly. Furthermore all beds are provided with just a blanket and only one and that during winter. There is a bed spread, but made of a thin material. This results in trying to sleep while actually being cold. Asking if there is any additional blankets, the comment was "we are very busy this weekend and do not have any spares". So how can you make provision for 1 blanket only per bed during winter time. Alternatively, why not prewarn guests that they should bring along their own bedding instead of being surprised with cold nights and lack of heating. Beds are also not really comfortable and to my experience of other places, not up to standard. So when visiting during winter make provision for additional heating yourself. Summertime I guess will however be different and more comfortable.

I'm very disappointed, firstly they were not accommodating at all to change my chalet, my chalet was very far away and had no sun coming in, secondly the cleaner did not clean properly and did not put toilet paper, and thirdly the indoor heated pool was not heated properly, it was actually lukewarm and not hot and everybody was complaining but they didn't bother to fix it, I have been there before and the pool was nice and hot but this time in the middle of winter it was cold and I won't be going there again.....

We have recently stayed at Dikhololo resort, the unit was old, but nice and clean. I could see that they have tried doing some upgrades. The cleaning service is great and the staff very friendly, same for the reception. We were surprised to be allowed to book in a little earlier than expected. The facilities at the resort is ok, games room need upgrade, the PlayStation machines there were two working out of the six, the same movie was on the whole time repeating but at least they enjoyed the huge jumping pillow. It was my kid's birthday, so we wanted to treat him for a lunch or breakfast, but the prices are outrageous. Even the activity center is out priced, just sad to see such a great place where you cannot afford to enjoy most of the activities. I was very disappointed, for that reason I will not go back to this resort again.

Not far from where I live there is a hidden gem, Dikhololo. The place is nice, if you like your walks there is walk ways, even guided walks at a close to nothing cost. If you like to bring and braai where you meet other tourists who stay in the resort, in a nutshell there is something for everyone. I love their spa as well, very tranquil. The outdoor movie night was also nice. The safari drive is also there, there is literally anything for anyone.

We booked 5 nights at Dikhololo as a couple. This was my full time back at the reserve since 2013 and can I just say the upgrades and new look is gorgeous!! When arriving we were put into a unit quite a way from the main area. This would have been a lovely secluded place to stay but we were unfortunately having issues with our car battery and the reception very happily offered us a new unit right off the main area. This ended up actually being incredibly convenient. We had breakfast included and even though the food itself was really good it would have been nice to have a few more options. The breakfast buffet on Sat and Sun morning was hearty and very nice! The waiters at the restaurant are some of the friendliest people I have ever met. We had a couple of other meals at the restaurant and enjoyed everyone. The bar has a nice selection of drinks, cocktails are really disappointing though, as they are pre-mixes. But I appreciated the honesty of the lady before I ordered it. We enjoyed all the activities the resort has to offer - tennis, mini golf, heated pool, electric scooters as well as the spa. The one activity that was such a highlight of our trip was the bingo on the deck, was so entertaining with a host that handled everything so well. We unfortunately didn’t win anything but still enjoyed it so much. Unfortunately there is some things that put I very slight damper on the trip: - The walls of the units (11A) are RIDICULOUSLY thin. We were next to a family with small kids and it was not the best feeling waking up at 6AM to screaming children. The worst part is you could hear the parents trying to get the kids to quieten down, meaning they themselves were not having a good time of the morning as they knew they were making a noise. You guys have to do something about the walls!! - The litter through the reserve was a HUGE disappointment. You have such a lovely reserve. Send a team every now and then through the reserve to pick up the litter. All in all it was a lovely trip, and worth every penny for the 5 nights. Thank you and we hope to be back again soon! Kate & Hanro xxx
